Prosecute Omar, his aides for involvement in Haji Yusuf's murder: Congress

Congress want immediate registration of FIR into the case

Kishtwar, Dec 09: Former Congress Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today demanded that Omar Abdullah should be prosecuted for his alleged involvement in the murder of National Conference worker Haji Muhammad Yusuf.

Why were Omar and his associates not prosecuted in connection with the murder case of the NC worker Haji Yusuf?"

Pertinently, recently the former IG Crime and PDP candidate from north Kashmir's Uri constituency Raja Aijaz Ali had alleged that late Haji Mohammad Yusuf was interrogated at CM's residence in Srinagar for 3-hours in presence of Omar and his close aides, Nasir Aslam Wani, Devender Singh Rana and Shabir Ahmed Personal Security Officer of Omar.

Following the revelations made by Raja Aijaz Ali, the family members of the deceased NC worker appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and get a FIR registered against Omar and his aides.

"Omar Abdullah can no more befool people with his politics of hatred and division as he stands exposed before the general masses."

Saroori said, "Omar Abdullah is also responsible for hushing up the double rape and murder case in Shopian. How can we expect that he would allow registration of FIR in a case where he is himself main accused," he said, adding; "The statement by Omar Abdullah that he was innocent will not acquit him from the murder case. He cannot act as a judge in his own cause. He has to get the clean chit from Supreme Court where Haji Yusuf son’s petition is pending disposal."

Saroori said it is irony that till last week Omar Abdullah was terming death of Haji Yousuf as natural and now, he himself asserted during an election rally in Uri that he had handed over Yousuf to then IG Crime and he died in police custody. "We strongly believe that Haji Yousuf was murdered. He was tortured to death by Omar Abdullah and his close confidants," he said.

"Saroori appeal to Supreme Court to take cognizance of Omar Abdullah's recent statement which made it clear that Haji Yousuf died in custody," he said and added that Congress want immediate registration of FIR into the case so that guilty could be punished without fear or favor.

Omar Abdullah a weak and unfit Chief Minister: Saroori

Why no inquiries against NC Ministers

Kishtwar, December 08: - Attack Omar Abdullah for accusing Congress party of "opportunism and falsehood", senior Congress leader and sitting MLA from Inderwal, Ghulam Muhammad Saroori Monday termed him "weak and unfit" Chief Minister.

Omar Abdullah can no more befool people with his politics of hatred and division as he stands exposed before the general masses”, Saroori said, while addressing a deputation of party workers of far off areas of district Kishtwar, here today.

Saroori said, "Omar Abdullah’s National Conference is a sinking ship. He cannot deliver and general masses know how he has made a mess of Jammu and Kashmir. NC leaders, workers and supporters are seeking greener pastures elsewhere."

He said that no inquiry was ordered by Omar Abdullah against his own ministers and accusation of him being involved in taking sizeable kickbacks of Rs 500 Cr from a private company on account of allotment of Rattle power project.

Saroori asked, “Why Omar only ordered inquiries against Congress Minister? Why no inquiries were ordered against allotment of 2000 works allotted without tenders when Omar was holding the charge of Public Works Department (PWD), also in Haji Yusuf murdered case and his associates.”

Saroori said, “One Mushtaq Ahmed, a paid agent of NC and resident of Srinagar filed a false complaint against former minister of sanctioning two thousand works in PWD R&B department without formal tendering. But when SAC conducted the detailed enquiry and came to the conclusion that allegations were false and dismissed the case.”

“Mushtaq Ahmed only complained against Congress leaders and never appeared in court with any concrete proof.”

“Despite Omar’s wrong intentions, both SAC and CBI gave us clean chit,” Saroori added.

The Congress leader said that there is utter neglect and deprivation that remote and backward areas like erstwhile Doda district suffered till 2006. “A concerted effort to develop these areas during Ghulam Nabi Azad’s tenure as CM was made. However the same script of neglect is being repeated since 2008," he said.

Saroori said that Chenab Valley was developed during Azad’s tenure as chief minister as roads, colleges, hospitals, and schools were constructed during the Congress-led regime, and since then no visible improvement is noticed on the ground.

He said that Omar Abdullah has filled his own ‘chest’ when he didn’t have a single penny to quake hit erstwhile district Doda from Rs. 334crore  released by the union government under disaster management quota.  “I think Omar Abdullah don’t know the meaning of “Disaster”, Saroori added.

He accused that Omar has failed to provide relief to the earthquake victims in comparison to "massive reconstruction" work started in 2005 by Azad government after the earthquake in October 2005. "Tested, credible, and capable regime of Congress-led government alone can bring out the flood-ravaged state out of morass,” Saroori said.

"The massive challenge of reconstruction and rehabilitation cannot be carried out by mere sloganeering or making hollow promises, rather a concrete and coordinated effort is required to rebuild the lives of the people," he said.

Saroori said that it was Congress party’s biggest mistake by giving an immature person the post of Chief Minister. “Congress thought Omar Abdullah was young and energetic and that he can deliver well. However, we were wrong. He was unfit for such a prestigious position,” Saroori said and asked what Omar Abdullah achieved in these six years?

He said that to hide the failure of his government on every front, Omar was making false accusations against the Congress.

"Omar did no good to the constituencies we (Congress) represent. Our constituencies were discriminated," he said. Congress is the only party which is committed to equitable development of all the regions of the state and people have to make a right choice in these elections.

Saroori blamed Omar Abdullah for not regularizing daily wagers in the state "It was intentional dilly-dallying tactics by Omar. Justice is being denied to such a large number of casual workers since 2009 when Cabinet Sub-Committee was constituted to look into the grievances of all sections of employees and workers," he said and put the onus on Omar Abdullah for blocking the move because there were more daily wagers from Jammu region.

He also accused Chief Minister of deliberately not implementing Food Security Act in Jammu and Kashmir even as the same was implemented in the rest of India during UPA regime. “He knew that with the implementation of Food Security Act in the state, its benefit would go to Congress party following which he delayed and did not implement the same,” Saroori added.

Release MGNREGA payment along with compensation: Saroori

Slammed BJP government for failing to clear the liabilities

Jammu, December 02: - Senior Congress leader and sitting MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today slammed the Centre Government for “failing” to release over Rs 150 crore MGNREGA payments to the State Government, which it alleged has adversely affected the poor families in J&K state.

“The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Government at Centre has failed to clear over Rs 150 crore MGNREGA payments to the State Government including Rs 56 crores liabilities of Erstwhile district Doda” Saroori told reporters at Jammu

He questioned BJP’s silence on issues related to the Laborers and alleged that the Union Government has “failed” to clear MGNREGA payment despite submission of necessary documents.

“Before Lok Sabha elections all senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visits to Jammu in his campaigns had raised the issue several times but it is surprising that after May 26 they have turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the problems being faced by the rural people,” he said.

Saroori said that the department of rural development is also liable to pay compensation for delay in wages as per guidelines issued by the ministry of rural development.

He (Saroori) also blamed the state government and saying that the government already had Rs 30 crores balance regarding MGNREGA work and despite that, the delay was a cruel joke with people who were living hand-to-mouth and had been provided livelihood security through MGNREGA by the UPA government at the Centre.

“The Union government has snatched the means of survival from families of poor workers,” added Saroori, demanding immediate release of wages along with compensation, failing which an agitation would be launched.

All these political parties are either run as stopping the developmental activities, family enterprises or as some religious joint. All religions are equally important and if preached rightly, lead us to the path towards almighty God. But few parties believes in using religion as a shortcut to reach corridors of power by precipitating emotions of people and getting our society polarised on the basis of caste and religion. J&K people are wise enough not to be swayed down by these opportunist politicians. They will definitely reject their dangerous agenda for division of our society and shall, only, choose path towards peace, development and prosperity.

We want unity. They want to impose uniformity. They (Prime Minister) say ‘just believe in me’. We say ‘believe in our intentions, in our achievements…a high rate of growth, inclusive development, and strong democratic institutions.”

Saroori also appealed to the voters of Inderwal constituency to come in large and cast their votes in favour of him (Ghulam Mohammad Saroori) by pressing s.no: 6 hand button on EVMs on November 25th.
