Doda, August 18: - Former Union Health Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad today said Modi Government has failed to control militancy and border firing in the Jammu and Kashmir State.

Addressing a large number of party workers at District Congress convention at Doda here today, Mr Azad alleged that incidents of terrorism and Pakistani firing along the borders have increased. He said apart from Gurdaspur bordering J&K, a large number of militant attacks have taken place in last several months.

These incidents have increased manifold after Modi Government came into power. “We have not seen such a massive ceasefire violation in last many years along J&K border. The people are facing lot of hardships. Six innocent persons have lost life in Mendhar area of Poonch on Independence Day. The terrorized people have started migrating to the safer areas, but NDA Government has failed to provide relief to the people and take appropriate measures,” he added.

Launching a scathing attack on Modi Govt, Mr Azad, who is also  Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said on one hand Pakistan continue to target Indian civilians and supporting terrorism, on the other hand BJP led NDA Government is desperate for holding foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan.

“This BJP, during UPA rule, used to oppose talks with Pakistan, on the plea that talks and terror can’t go together but now, it seems that BJP leadership itself is confused on its foreign policy viz-a-viz Pakistan. Modi Govt is unable to take any hard decision and protect the innocent civilians falling to the bullets of Pakistani soldiers,” Azad maintained.

He regretted that Prime Minister preferred to remain mute on the killings of civilians in Pakistani shelling on the Independence Day in Mendhar area of Poonch instead of giving strong message  to the neighbouring country on this day.

Referring to the ceasefire violations along IB and LoC in J&K, Mr Azad  said that Pakistan has failed to tackle its internal problem and deliver to the people. It has been resorting to unprovoked firing along the borders just to divert the attention of the people of its country from the issues of development, peace and prosperity.

Condemning the killings of innocent people in shelling  by Pakistan, Azad said that Pakistan was indulging in un-Islamic acts. This shows signs of cowardice and frustration.  I do not know what type of Islam Pakistan is preaching.  He alleged that Pakistani Army and other  agencies of that country are deeply involved in such acts.

Mr Azad also complimented the PCC president and other leaders of the party for holding meetings across the State and infusing new life in the party and taking all the people along. He said that present PCC was doing good job to strengthen party at all levels.

PCC chief in his address targeted BJP and PDP for the present spurt in militancy  and ceasefire violations. He condemned the killings of innocent people in Mendhar due to Pakistani shelling and said that weak policy of Modi Government is responsible for the innocent killings.

Mr Mir also alleged discrimination with the people of Chenab region by the present BJP-PDP alliance on political grounds. He said that this Government has ignored many areas for vested interests and political benefits. He also referred to the plight of the people living in far flung areas of Doda-Kishtwar and Ramban and said that people will not spare such parties in next elections.

Terming Congress Party a movement, Vice President J&K Congress and In-Charge Chenab Valley Ghulam Mohammad Saroori in his address said that Congress Party is oldest political party with a history of 125 years in serving the people and the country no political party or front can compete with the Congress Party, as Congress Party has always worked for poor and down trodden people and it is all weather friend of the people. He said Congress party is a vibrant force in every nook and corner of the state and these conventions which is being kicks off was a step towards further strengthening the party.

Senior party leaders Sham Lal Sharma, Mohd Sharief Niaz, Abdul Majid Wani, Vikar Rasool (MLA),  Naresh Gupta (MLC), Jugal Kishore (MLC) and Sham Lal  Bhagat (MLC) also spoke on the occasion.

Pray to Allah for peace and prosperity of the state

Kishtwar, August 17: - Chairman J&K Sub-Committee Wakf council and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori on Monday flagged off the first batch of 46 Hajj pilgrims in the early morning from the Islamia Faridia Education and Research Institution Kishtwar.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kishtwar Mohd Hanief Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Kishtwar Dr. Khalid Hussain Malik, Additional SP Abdul Qayoom Mir, Administrator Auqaf Kishtwar Shokat Ahmed Sheikh, Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo, and other police and civil officers connected with Hajj-2015 were present.

A large number of people including men, women and relatives of Hajj pilgrims were also present to see off the pilgrims from Kishtwar. The pilgrims will leave for Jeddah from Srinagar on 19th of August.

Addressing the pilgrims, Saroori urged the pilgrims who are leaving for Haj, to pray to Allah for peace and prosperity of the state. Saroori was giving a send-off to the 1st batch of the 46 Haj pilgrims from Kishtwar, by flagging off the buses carrying the pilgrims at the Islamia Faridia Education and Research Institution Kishtwar. He also lauded and appreciated the good efforts of ADC, ACR and Kishtwar Police for the arrangements of the pilgrims.

Earlier, Saroori met each Hajj Pilgrim in the ground area. Saroori while interacting with the pilgrims wished them well-being, success and smooth performance of Aazmenay-e-Hajj. The pilgrims reciprocated the good wishes and showered him with prayers.

In their address ADC and ACR Kishtwar also briefed the pilgrims about the itinerary proramme from Kishtwar to Srinagar that Aazmeen-E-Haj are schedule to take tea at TRC Mugalmaidan Chatroo, followed by lunch at Kokernag arranged by Muslim welfare society Kishtwar. Besides Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar Mr. Mudassir Kichloo has also been deputed to Srinagar in advance by the administration to look into the arrangements of Haj pilgrims.

People are the worst hit and feel isolated in absence of basic amenities: Saroori

Marwah/Warwan, August 16: - Pradesh Congress Committee president Ghulam Ahmed Mir has alleged that PDP-BJP Coalition is neglecting people on the political grounds in the State.

Addressing series of public meetings at Inshan, Astaan Gaam, Nowpachi, Marwah and Warwan areas of district Kishtwar, the PCC chief said despite knowing that they (PDP-BJP) are losing the ground very fast, the Coalition Government is indulging in political victimization. The people in upper reaches and of  South Kashmir and other districts are being neglected in every respect, purely on political grounds and an atmosphere of distress is being created by the coalition partners aiming to get benefitted politically.

Asserting that people are suffering badly in absence of basic facilities in remote areas, PCC chief said that government machinery is nowhere visible on ground. The tall claims of PDP led coalition about good governance and development of the State was only to lure the voters for the sake of coming into power, he said.

Describing Coalition government a complete failure, PCC chief castigated the coalition partners for victimizing the people on political grounds. He said people in several upper areas like Matigawran, Larnoo, Nowbug, Kapran, Kund and in other areas  are being victimized on political grounds. He accused the government of being bias toward multiple problems confronting people and neglecting those areas or people who have not voted for them (PDP) in the elections.

Asserting that Congress Party would not allow any sort of discrimination with any section, group or society, PCC chief assured the people that Congress is fully committed for equal development of the people and the regions. Mir asked the government to shun these anti- people policies as these are fraught with dangerous consequences, Mir said.

Expressing deep concern over the pathetic condition of people living in backward and far flung areas of Kishtwar and elsewhere in the state, Vice President JKPCC Ghulam Mohammad Saroori said that people are the worst hit and feel isolated in absence of road connectivity, shortage of rations, lack of basic amenities and infrastructure, there are no teachers available in Schools, Health Centers are without doctor’s, worst condition of roads.

Accusing PDP led Coalition government for failing to address the multiple problems people are facing, Saroori said that Coalition government was deliberately neglecting the people living in far flung areas of Kishtwar District and elsewhere, worst condition of people in these areas are quite indicative of non serious and callous attitude of coalition government about the issues confronting people, he said.

Saroori expressed surprise over the non availability of Teachers in School, Doctors in Health Centre, shortage of ration, no electricity, lack of infrastructure and other basic facilitates, he said that Coalition government led by PDP was indulging in vote bank politics, ignoring people in far flung areas on political grounds, issues confronting people are not being addressed, he (Saroori) said Coalition government must not forget that/people of all the three regions are equal and deserves equal treatment without any sort of disparity or discrimination, he said.

He has also demanded an inquiry over the construction of PMGSY road from Parana Pull to Astaan Gam where the department has changed the alignment without the proper approval and which is in apathy condition. Besides having over 17,000 populations in Marwah and Warwan areas there is no mobile network in the region moreover the authority have no funds to buy the oil for running the tower these are called as “achay-din”. ---- He said they (BJP) talked about ‘achay din’ before elections, but after winning the elections, they said they will have to give us a bitter-pill first to achieve ‘achay din’. "They don't want development---but just playing with the sentiments of the people" Saroori added.

Saroori also demanded an immediate black topping on Inshan road and constructing of Bonda-Marwah tunnel which will provide all weather connectivity to the two un-connected areas of Kishtwar district. He urged government to address these issues of general public of Marwah and Warwan on top priority so that people of far flung areas won’t face any hardship for the future time.

Police also registered an FIR on the complaint of Mr. Saroori over the distribution of rotten food grains and ration among the people of far flung areas of Inshan. Saroori also gave a sample of Ration to the police and demanded an inquiry into this serious matter.

In their address Vice President JKPCC and MLA Sopore Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani, spokesperson Farooq Andrabi, General Secretary JKPCC Hilal Ahmad Shah and Mohd Iqbal Mir exhorted the party workers to reach out to the people and remain steadfast in their service to the best of their ability, identify the problems confronting people for their resolution.

Congress leaders further said that Party will not compromise on people issues and development of the regions, it (Congress) will fight for equitable development of the regions and people and is committed to address urges and aspiration of the people in all the three regions of the state, they said.

Those who addressed the gathering included  Mohd Aslam Malik, Piyaray Lal Shan, Ghulam Mohd, and other local Congress leaders from Marwah and Warwan areas.

Congress leaders greets people on Independence Day

Kishtwar, August 14: - Vice President J&K Congress and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori have extended his heartiest felicitations and good wishes to the people of the Jammu and Kashmir State on the occasion of 68th anniversary of the Independence Day.

In a message, Saroori said that the Independence Day was an occasion when all of us should make resolve to realise the dreams of martyrs who sacrificed their lives to achieve country's freedom.

It is an occasion to pay tribute to them. He asked the people to imbibe the spirit of nationalism and patriotism which was the essence of a strong nation. He also appealed to the people to resolve to evolve a harmonious society through mutual trust, understanding and goodwill.

All the Congress leaders, Workers from Erstwhile Ddoda district, Sarpanches, Panches have also greeted people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Independence Day.
