Kahara, December 27: Saying that service of Inderwal people is his mission, Former Minister J&K, G. M Saroori said Inderwal achieved developmental milestones as a representative of the Constituency which was not possible without observing numerous challenges but determination was no less.

“Unflinching support of people has been an immense strength to knock every door to get developmental tempo moving in every sector”, Saroori said while interacting with various deputations and delegations at Kencha, Bitola, Bagdeyr, Malanoo, Gugara areas of Kahara block during his extensive visit, a part of having on-the-spot feel of problems confronting to the people.

He said his endeavour as representative of Inderwal was to ensure smooth functioning of utility services and expediting pace on various schemes so that their benefits accrue to targeted segments of population without delay.

“Delays generally negate the purpose of schemes designed for various areas, which is why our effort remains to pursue the executing agencies to have these completed in a time bound manner”, he said.

Former Minister took note of the problems facing people of the areas he visited and assured that these will be taken up at appropriate levels for earnest redressal. He assured that soon Public Grievances Redressal Camps will be held in Kahara areas which till date have worked well, not only for the people to voice their problems but for the administration also to have these resolved on immediate basis.

JAMMU, DECEMBER 23: - Expressing gratitude to people of Jharkhand for strengthening the secular powers in the state for their vote against BJP in just concluded Assembly election, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President G. M Saroori has said that people have rejected the communal agenda of BJP coalition, responsible for the deteriorating situation in the country.

Commenting on the poll outcome of Jharkhand Assembly while addressing the workers meeting here at Mugalmaidan area of Kishtwar district, Saroori terms it as the victory of secular and unifying forces, as the ruling dispensation (BJP) is committed to implement the communal agenda in the country to meet their dirty political ends.

“Even the serious efforts were earlier made by BJP to divide people on regional lines for the sake of securing votes, but today people have sent a clear message to communal and fascist forces, that they will not succeed in implementing their communal agenda further, rather they will be defeated miserably by the people,” said Saroori.

 

Describing the defeat of BJP, Saroori said people are scared of the BJP, which is responsible for the restlessness among the people not only in North east state or Jammu and Kashmir, but in the entire country, he added and congratulated the people for defeating mighty BJP in the Assembly election by exercising their franchise in favour of the secular forces, he terms it as victory of people. 

JKPCC Vice President said this is the people’s verdict and victory of the people of this country. Victory of democracy and victory against injustice, atrocities, destruction of institutions, misuse of agencies, no work for poor people, farmers, youth, Dalits, SC, ST, OBC, minorities and general caste.

Visited various areas of Chatroo; work on prestigious Singpora tunnel to start next year which will connect Kishtwar with Kashmir

Chatroo, December 18: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Vice President, G. M Saroori sought immediate relief for the farmers on the pattern of Kashmir Valley who have incurred massive losses due to the untimely whiteout in Chenab Valley and demanded restoration of essential services without delay.

The Former Minister who visited various areas of sub-division Chatroo include Singpora, SingporaTunnel point, Vohal, Chatroo, Mugalmaidan, Kuriya areas and termed the damage massive and catastrophic, asking the administration to remain on the tenterhooks in order to provide relief to the affected populace on priority.

Mr. Saroori added that the untimely snowfall has thrown life out of gear in Chenab Valley with essential supplies like power and water severely hit and roads connecting thousands of hamlets across the region blocked in entirety.

He urged the government to restore the essential supplies at an earliest and ensure that the people especially from the far flung areas do not face any dearth of essential commodities. He also demanded immediate snow clearance of the roads particularly of those areas connecting various areas to hospitals and main towns.

Mr. Saroori expressed deep concern over the massive losses incurred by the orchardists due to the present untimely whiteout, stating that Chenab Valley horticulture industry has been bearing the brunt of nature's fury for years now and that the present regime is duty bound to provide immediate assistance to the affected growers without any delay on the pattern of Kashmir valley.

The Former Minister also informed the general public during his visit to the area said that the DPR of prestigious Singpora -Vailoo tunnel has been submitted to the higher authorities of the NHIDCL and added that he is hopeful that the work on Singpora-Vailoo tunnel will be started in April 2020. He said that with the construction of Singpora-Vailoo tunnel, the distance between Kishtwar and Srinagar will be reduced by more than 56 Kms.

During the tour, number of deputations met the Former Minister and apprised him about the issues and problems confronting pertaining to their areas. Mr. Saroori gave patient hearing to all the deputations and assured them that their genuine demands and issues will be taken up with the administration for resolving on priority. He also assured the general public that he will leave no stone unturned in redressing general public issues.

BDC Chairpersons of Chenab Valley blames bureaucracy as hurdles for strengthening of PRIs at grass root level in J&K

Kishtwar, December 17: - Around 15 Block Development Council (BDC) chairmen, who fought the recent BDC elections from Doda, Bhaderwah and Inderwal constituencies as Independents, were honoured felicitated during a party function organised by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Vice President, G. M Saroori here at his residence Kishtwar.

While speaking in a function newly elected Block Development Council (BDC) Chairpersons of Chenab Valley today launched a scathing attack on the government for their failure in fulfilling the promises made with them and with Panchayat Raj Institutions viz Panches & Sarpanches— and blames bureaucracy as biggest hurdle for strengthening of PRIs at grass root level in J&K.

The newly elected BDC Chairman's, said that recently held back to village Phase II is cruel joke with the people living in far flung areas of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as the government fails to address the issues raised by the people during Phase I of much hyped Back to Village program.

They said that the government claims that Rs.5 crores were kept at the disposal of every Deputy Commissioner—but they did nothing where the said amount was spent and blamed the officials of various government departments for making an attempt to derail the PRIs. 

They said that the officials pay no heed towards their repeated requests with regard to making the institution of BDCs and PRIs functional so that they can put their services for betterment of public delivery system. They said that they were not provided staff to function beside said that the work culture in majority of the government departments is a total failure and people are being deprived from the benefits on ground. 

They said that government decision to bring 22 departments under the ambit of PRIs and BDCs as hollow slogans to hoodwink the people added that most of the officials are missing from the ground. They said that the officials did not visit the ground while they have been asked to monitor the implementation of government run schemes to which bureaucracy was a biggest hurdle since the bureaucrats did not want the PRIs and BDCs to flourish since implementation of PRIs Act on ground left the bureaucracy as toothless tigers. They said that without incorporation of 73rd and 74th amendments of Panchayat Raj Act in Jammu and Kashmir— the PRIs are not less than a rubber stamp.

They said that people had repose the faith on them and overwhelming participated in Panchayat Elections despite all odds and called upon the government to fulfill all the promises made with them during the announcement of the elections. They said that PRIs and BDC Chairperson's of Chenab valley fully support the ongoing strike of PRIs and BDC chairmen's and threaten to launch agitation in Chenab valley as well in case the issues raised by the agitating PRIs could be addressed.

Congress calls for provisions of free electricity, jobs for locals in 1000 MW power projects

 

NHPC should make judicious use of CSR amount by taking local people, administration on board

Kishtwar, December 16: The Congress party delegation of Kishtwar District headed by its state Vice President and Former Minister, G. M Saroori calls for provisions of free electricity to the inhabitants of Kishtwar District as was promised to them by the NHPC at the time of taking over of 390 MW Dool-Hasti power projects and demanded jobs for local unemployed youths including Engineers, Diploma holders in 1000 MW power projects.

Among the various issues raised by them with the administration include provisions of free electricity in Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas as nothing has been done by NHPC so far for the welfare and benefits of people of Kishtwar, installations of high mask lights in each wards of Kishtwar Municipality and outside the town, black topping of two important city roads viz Om Mehta and Bagwan Mohallah road exclusively used by the NHPC, beside also called for construction of proper drainage system as present drainage system is chocked due to down flow of water and sewage from NHPC colony, laid stress for appointments of para medical staff in health sub centres across Inderwal and Kishtwar constituencies, clearance of pending liabilities with regard to IHHL units as approximately Rs 3 Crore dues are pending on account of Swatch Bharat Mission in Kishtwar District, land compensation pending under PMGSY sector, inquiry with regard to use of Govt High School building Patnazi (Drabshalla Zone)by private businessmen for personal use, illegal encroachment on constructed Ground Watershed under IWMP, dumping of ration in far flung and snow bound areas, floating of tenders for Kandani to Bhagra road under NABARD for which funds to the tune of Rs. 80 lakhs are already available, reduction in monthly electricity charges being charged from BPL families and PMAY house holders.

They also called for judicious use of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds which is 2% out of the income generated from the power projects and called upon the administration to form a committee involving locals and officials from the administration so that the funds to the tune of crores of rupees every year could be utilised for the welfare and overall development of Kishtwar District.

They also submitted the memorandum to DC Kishtwar in this regard highlighting the various public issues. 

DC Kishtwar gives patience hearing to the issues raised by the Congress delegation with him and assured that he will take up the matter with concern quarters and made an appeal for greater participation of public for taking benefits under various government runs schemes. He urged the Sarpanches and Panches to reach out to the public in far flung areas and make them aware about various government run schemes that will give them benefits amid at raising their living standards.
