Saroori visited GMC enquires about the health of patients

Jammu, Dec 20: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today said it’s not just medicines which heal the sick, but the environment too had a major role but it is unfortunate that the city’s main government hospital GMC&H, where a number of patients come for the treatment is in a pathetic condition.

Mr. Saroori was accompanied by HOD Dr. Susheel Sharma, Dr. Bali and other officers of the Hospital.

Mr. Saroori interacted with the patients at GMC&H Jammu and assured them all help. He instructed the Hospital authorities and Doctors to provide every required medical facility to the patients so that they do not feel any inconvenience.

Mr. Saroori said Government Medical College & Hospital has failed to look after the sanitation of the hospital and associated institutions which are in shambles.

“Emergency Wing of the hospital caters to thousands of patients from across the state every day, but when it comes to the sanitation, there is lot to be desired. The bathrooms in the hospital are overflowing with sewage, and dirty water. The pipes are leaking, the faucets do not work, and toilets smell as is these have not been cleaned for years”, Saroori said

He said that the institute needs to take a cue from its counterparts in the private sector as far as matters of cleanliness and hygiene are concerned or go over to a military hospital to find an example to emulate. Patients and their caretakers as such are facing tough time particularly in the Emergency ward of the Government Medical College & hospital due to poor maintenance of the toilets.

Citing an example Mr. Saroori said my son who was admitted in GMC&H last month said to me that the toilet of the Hospital is in a pathetic and untidy condition and cannot afford to stand even for few seconds in the unhygienic toilets.

Later he bought the matter into the kind notice to Medical Superident as it can cause severe infection to the patients who are already suffering but when I visit after one month second times the condition of sanitation is same.

Mr. Saroori said government really needs to improve the hygienic conditions of not only GMC&H Jammu but other government hospitals in the state as well.
