Srinagar, August 03: - Congress leaders including President JKPCC Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Vice Presidents JKPCC Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Gulzar Ahmed Wani, Abdul Gani Khan, Mohd Amin Bhat, Irfan Naqeeb, Amir Rasool and other Congress leaders today participated in the Nimaz-E-Jinazah of Mufti Bashir Ahmad Farooqui, imam Dargah, Asar-e-Sharief, Hazratbal.

Congress leaders expressed grief over the death of Mufti Bashir Ahmad Farooqui, imam Dargah, Asar-e-Sharief, Hazratbal. Mufti Bashir died of a cardiac arrest in Srinagar yesterday.

In their condolence message, Congress leaders described Mufti Bashir as a great Islamic scholar, who was an embodiment of spirituality. “His passing away has left a big void which will be difficult to fill,” the Congress leaders said.

They expressed heartfelt sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for place in ‘jannah’ for the departed soul.

Demanded high level probe into bungling of funds

Kishtwar, August 02: Vice-President JKPCC and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today took the strong note of allotting road clearance (landslides), restoration work on Batote-Thathri National Highway to various contractors by the R&B division Doda without floating tenders.

Saroori said that the Executive Engineer in close proximity with some local contractors is alloting works to them without floating tenders thereby causing heavy loss to the state exchequer. He further alleged that the damage report prepared for clearing the landslides on Batote-Thathri National Highway is meant to benefit the particular contractor and is aimed at "looting" the state which is already in "shambles" financial condition.

"Damage Report that has been prepared for clearing the slips, restoration work on Batote-Thathri National Highway is highly gruesome as the time period mentioned (in hours) is five times more than the genuine time period required to clear the same with the help of JCB", Saroori said in agony.

He asked the government officials to float the tenders before allotting tenders to the contractors that too in and accordance to norms of e-tendering. He further said that people even filed RTI with regard to the issuance of work without tender, added that the department fails to give the reply to these RTI even after lapse of stipulated time frame.

"I have taken up the matter with Director and SSP Vigilance and have also forwarded a letter to the officer--- I am pretty sure that the organisation will soon weed out the scandal", said Saroori.

Saroori also demanded a high level probe into the mass irregularities done by the government officials and also requested the Chief Minister of J&K Mufti Muhammad Sayed and Minister for Roads and Buildings (R&B) Syed Altaf Bukhari to personally intervene into the matter and get the erring officials booked.

Channi, Gen Secretary Hilal Shah, Gen Secretary Shoaib Nabi Lone and Org & Media Publicity Secretary Salman Nizami, Sr Cong leader Sheikh Mujeeb, Anil Chopra Distt President Jammu, today critical of the ‘negative’ and ‘divisive’ role being played by the ‘deadwood’ and expelled who issue unnecessary statements as attention seekers but end up creating fissures among the party ranks.
Taking a dig at such elements, the Congress leader’s said the need of the hour is to play a responsible role to unite, not divisive role to disunite. They also said that the present generation of Jammu and Kashmir wants its basic issues of employment, development and opportunities addressed.
“Every day when I read the newspapers, I find many stories written on the divide within Congress but I want to ask the media that where is the group? The Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir is one,” Vice President J&K Congress G. M. Saroori asserted.
The leaders said the trouble makers have been expelled and have no right to interfere in party related matters. "The Congress party is working hard by raising the general demands of the people under the leadership of Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni and Ghulam Ahmed Mir.“We can’t afford to let our people down at this crucial juncture of history,” they added.
Lashing out on the expelled leader Ab Gani Vakil the leader’s said that he (Vakil) has become MLC and Cabinet Minister only because of the Congress, personally nobody knows him on ground and he even cannot win a Sarpanch election. They said after failing to explain his position the congress had already fired him from the party fold which doesn’t endorse the indiscipline.
They said he (Vakil) is a traitor and trying to be opportunist. The leaders further said that as the BJP & PDP govt has totally been exposed and failed; they now are busy in spreading news of groupsim in the Congress party; both BJP and PDP leaders are aware of the fact that Congress has now got tremendous support from the people to expose the present govt.
Congress leaders said that the BJP and PDP played the card of communal polarization by using religion to fight elections; if the elections would have been fought on development basis congress would have never lost as we undertook huge development works in the state. The performance of present govt has been disappointing with financial crunch, discrimination with Jammu on AIIMS issue, terminating daily wagers, no compensation to flood victims, snail pace of development marring the govt picture.

Congress leaders condole Rizwan Ahmed Malik death

Bhalessa, August 01: - President District Congress Committee Doda, Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta-(MLC) and Congress Vice President J&K, Mr. G. M. Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) today expressed deep grief over the sad demise of Rizwan Ahmed son of Abdul Gani Malik resident of Malikpura Bhalessa who passed away today.

Congress leaders expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and conveyed their sympathy. They prayed to the Almighty Allah for blessing peace to the departed soul beside a place for him in heaven. They also prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear irreparable loss.

Directed the R&B department to survey the road from Sinthan top to Phamber under CRF

Phamber (Kishtwar), August 01: - Describing the natural beauty of erstwhile Doda district as Allah’s greatest gift, Vice President J&K Congress Mr. G. M. Saroori emphasized that promotion of tourism will always remain subservient to the conservation of our priceless environment.

Saroori who was on two days tour to Phamber area of district Kishtwar. He said huts will be developed in a planned way and construction for creating basic facilities for visitors by abiding to proper procedural norms.

“We should promote tourism by creating opportunities of growth and employment in the sector,” he said, while asserting the need for undertaking a massive publicity drive to promote un-explored destinations like Phamber, Bangar, Bimalnag, Panjal, Kasnaie, Yender Bets, Satkulan, Hapat Margi, Moudan, Sarpout, Kanvaas and other areas.

"Tourism will not develop unless it comes with the required paraphernalia. We have to be innovative in our thinking to make Chenab valley a leading tourist destination in the country and abroad. Tented accommodation and building eco-cottages at tourist resorts is one innovative way to increase the low intake capacity. Nature has bestowed us with beauty in abundance. We have to take steps to utilize idle tourism infrastructure at these nature spots for which Ghulam Nabi Azad former Chief Minister J&K has created New Tourism Development Authorities," Saroori said.

Inviting tourists to visit Phamber and explore its natural beauty, he said tourism is the backbone of the State’s economy and Government should make all efforts to promote its tourism potential.

"The previous Government NC-Congress has launched an incentive scheme under which people can convert a portion of their houses into lodges and guesthouses and a financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh is being provided to such intenders," he said. The government also provides necessary training in hospitality to the local youth for setting up their own ventures in tourism sector, Saroori said.

Saroori also instructed officials of Fisheries departments that some fisherman from outside are using bleaching powder in the river for fishing the fish, he directed SHO Chatroo and officials of Fisheries department to take strict action against those person and put them behind the bar who are using harmful things for fishing the fish.

Regarding the construction of road to Phamber Saroori directed the R&B department to survey the road from Sinthan top to Phamber under Central road funds (CRF) which will be the nearest route and asked them to send the proposal to higher authorities so that will take further steps in this regards.

Saroori further said that Bonda (Chatroo)-Chenger (Marwah), tunnel is the only way to connect Marwah and Warwan areas which will provide all weather connectivity to the two un-connected areas of Kishtwar district and said he will meet Minister for R&B Syed Altaf Hussain Bukhari regarding the road and tunnel matter as in 2010 when I was Minister R&B I have submitted the proposal for construction of road to Phamber under Militancy affected area.

Saroori also assured the Gujjar Bakarwal, ST Community, Choupan families living in Phamber areas that he will soon meet with Chief Minister J&K Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and will request him to visit the Phamber area. Later he distributed blankets among the ST community living in Phamber area and also released one lakhs rupees from his CDF for construction of bathrooms in Pahmber area.
