Upgrade Kishtwar Chatroo-Sinthan tourist infrastructure:- Saroori.

Complete ongoing projects first, dont create liabilities:Jora
Srinagar, September 20:- Underscoring the need for time bound completion of ongoing projects, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora stressed upon the concerned Chief Executive Officers (CEO’s) not to create liabilities while taking up new projects.

“The existing tourism projects should be completed in all respects and outsourced after completing all legal formalities. Utilization certificates of completion of each project should be submitted before forwarding new detailed project reports for creation of tourist related infrastructure under the authorities,” Jora CEO’s. 

Chairing Khistwar Development Authority (KDA) members meet here today , Jora said main objectives of the government is to provide quality infrastructure facilities to the visiting tourists, with focused attention for developing new tourism potential spots.
 
Jora said varied tourism potential of Khistwar district would be explored fully in a systematic manner, for which necessary initiatives have been taken already.
 
Member Legislative Assembly Inderwal G. M. Saroori, Commissioner Secretary Tourism and Culture, Atul Dulloo, Director General Budget, Mangotra, District Development Commissioner Khistwar, G. M. Malik, Special Secretary Tourism Altaf Ahmed, Director Tourism Jammu, R. S. Mehta, Chief Executive Officer KDA, Kishori Lal Sharma besides concerned officers of Tourism and Planning Departments were present in the meeting.
 

Reviewing the physical and financial achievements registered by the KDA for promotion of tourism activities in the area , the minister said that KDA was constituted in July, 2009 and has received financial support of Rs. 10.84 crore under State and Centre Plans for creating tourism related infrastructure. He said more projects would be forwarded to the Centre for funding so that tourism infrastructure facilities would be upgraded in the area. He directed concerned that before formulation of project reports for funding state land should be identified for the purpose as compensation for land acquisition is not a component for approval of Centre funding projects.

The Meeting was informed that TRC, Saffron Safari Pochal, Cafetaria at Khistwar, water sports basic infrastructure, huts at Dool, tourist amenities at Bimalnag, Barnayan and pre-fabricated wooden hut at Warwan have been completed. While as tourist infrastructure development work at Development of Qila Top Khistwar, Chowgam, Mughal Maidan, Kurya, tund and Chatroo are in progress. 

The Minister appreciated the work done by the authority and directed CEO to ensure timely completion of ongoing projects with the use of aesthetic and quality material.
 

The meeting was told that tourist influx
especially pilgrim tourists is increasing, this year so for 3.30 lakh pilgrim and leisure tourists visited the area.
 
The meeting approved the current year’s annual action plan of the authority and also approved the action taken report of last financial year.
 
MLA Inderwal, G. M. Saroori gave detailed resume of tourism potential of the area and urged for upgrading tourist infrastructure facilities on way side between Khistwar-Chatroo-Sinthan.
