Saroori calls upon Sarpanches and Panches to ensure victory of coalition candidates.



Chatroo, 29 November: - Continuing with his efforts to reach out to the Panches and Sarpanches for the forthcoming LC polls, Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori visited Chatroo area of Inderwal Constituency, Kishtwar district.

Addressing a largely gathering of Panches and Sarpanches at Dag Bunglow Chatroo, Saroori appealed them to vote for the coalition candidates Dr Shenaz Ganai (National Conference Candidate) and Sham Lal Bhagat (Congress Candidate) so that their problems and aspirations find reflection in upper echelons of governance.
Saroori said the coalition government has brought about a turnaround in development scenario in the state ever since it took over the reign. He said the government has planned many more initiatives for the state for the coming years.

He said coalition government has transferred powers of fourteen departments to panchayats under a cabinet order. He said capacity building training camps and workshops were organized in the state to train panchayats and apprise them of their functions and duties at the grass root level. He said steps will be taken to make these panchayats more effective and vibrant.He said NC-Congress coalition symbolizes equitable development of all regions and sub-regions of the state,

Saroori appealed the Panchayat members to ensure victory of NC-Congress candidates in the ensuing Legislative council elections and pave way for constitution of powerful, viable three tier panchyat system in the state which he said is the commitment of the coalition government and will be fulfilled.

He further said that success of the two candidates will be a befitting reply to all those who are trying to undermine the strength of the coalition government.

Thatri, November 28: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori toady said that the establishment of Panchayat Raj Institutions will boost the developmental works in villages and credit goes only to present coalition government in J&K.

He was addressing Panches & Sarpanches of Bunjwah, Saroor, Sarthal, Thatri area of Drabshallah and Thatri block of Inderwal Constituency. He said Panchayat Raj was introduced by Former Congress Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji and said that after more than 30 years Panchayat Raj has been re-established, powers and utilization of funds have transferred to panchayat.

He was canvassing in support of collation candidate of Legislative Council Sham Lal Bhagat (Congress Candidate) and Dr Shenaz Ganaie (National Conference Candidate).

Saroori said Former Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad have a broader understanding to set up a fully empowered Panchayati Raj system, at all levels. He said due to Mr Azad the BDC election were deferred because election exercise will be futile unless depressed class of society - Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes - and also women folk are not represented at the block and district levels in Panchayat raj system in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said deferment of Block Development Council (BDC) polls for a short period was thought advisable in the interest of Panchayat Raj system. The holding of polls for these bodies without necessary amendment incorporating further powers and due representation to the women and the deprived section of the society, would not have served the purpose of establishing fully empowered institutions of Panchayati Raj.

Saroori said that present government is always for the welfare & development of people of State. While appealing Panches & Sarpanches to come forward for implementation of people friendly programmes at ground level. He said that due to Panchayat Raj Institutions roots of democracy have been strengthen. The present Government is all said to strengthen the democratic institutions. He said that government has taken certain landmark initiatives and holding of Panchayat Elections after 30 years is one of the greatest achievements besides implementation of Public Service Gurantee Act, Constitution of State Information Commission under RTI, reconstitution of Accountability Commission, universalization of third party monitoring and e-governess besides strengthening various institutions to bring about transparency in system.

Saroori said that state government is committed to transfer more powers to panchayat raj institutions. He asked Panches and Sarpanches for vote in favour of coalition candidates, so that the dream of developmental activities in the villages comes true.

Doda, 26 November: - A joint meeting of Indian National Congress and J&K National Conference was held at Doda which was presided over by Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, YSS Mr. R.S. Chib, and while as Minister of State for Fisheries, Rural Development, Haj & Auqaf, Animal & Sheep Husbandry Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan was guest of honour.

Among others Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, MLA Bhaderwah Mohammad Sharief Niaz, MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, MLC Khalid Najib Suhrawardhy, MLC Naresh Gupta and former legislators Dr. Chaman Lal and Mr. Kashmira Singh from National Conference, besides Mr. Sham Lal Bhagat and Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, both the contesting candidates of Coalition Partners for two seats of Legislative Council also attended the meeting. 

The Sarpanches and Panches belonging to both National Conference and Indian National Congress attended the meeting in a large number along with block Presidents of Congress and National Conference.

Chib, while addressing the gathering highlighted the achievements of Coalition Government, headed by the young and dynamic Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and having full blessings of President, All India Congress Committee and Chairperson, UPA Smt. Sonia Gandhi. He made special mention of the various steps undertaken by the Government to usher an era of peace and development in the State. He also said that the credit for rejuvenating Panchayati Raj in the State also goes to the present Coalition Government of Congress and National Conference. It was further said that this is after a long spell of 30 years that J&K Legislative Council will have four representatives two each from Kashmir and Jammu Divisions, adding that it will enable Panches and Sarpanches to have their voice through their representatives in the State Legislature. 

He also said that filling up these four seats of Legislative Council earmarked for Panchayats speaks about the honest intentions of the Coalition Government to strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions in the State. He expressed his full confidence that the Government will take every possible step to take power to the grass root level for the empowerment of the common man which is the basic idea of Panchayati Raj Institutions. He also mentioned that provisions of 73rd Amendment will be incorporated in the Panchayati Raj Act of Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed to all the Panchs and Sarpanchs to use their franchise in favour of Coalition candidates which will in turn strengthen the Panchayati Raj in the State.

Khan while addressing the gathering highlighted the importance of this Legislative Council Elections from the Panchayati Raj Institution Constituencies. He also highlighted the steps taken by the State Government to streamline and strengthen the Panchayati Raj Act in the State. He further said that through representatives of Panchayats in the Legislative Council the views of Panchayat Raj Institutions will be suitably accommodated in the Panchayat Raj Act. He also appealed to all the Panchs and Sarpanchs to vote in favour of Coalition Candidates so that the Panchayats are ideally represented in the State Legislature.

Saroori while addressing said Coalition Government is the only solution for speedy development of every corner of the State. He said the decision of Congress high Command including Chairperson AICC Smt. Sonia Gandhi, General Secretary AICC Rahul Gandhi, and Union Health Minister and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad was hailed whereby Sham Lal Bhagat was nominated as Congress party candidates for Legislative Council from Jammu region. He said 99% Sarpanches and Panches will cast their votes in favour of Coalition candidates because of Congress party especially Ghulam Nabi Azad. He also called Azad tenure as a Golden era of development for Jammu and Kashmir State. He called upon the leaders, workers and Panchayat members to ensure victory of Sham Lal Bhagat (Congress Candidate) and Dr. Shenaz Ganai (NC candidate) in ensuing MLC elections by casting the valuable vote to them for their success.

He said that the coalition Government between National Conference and Congress will grow further in the State to realize the goal of harmony and prosperity. He said Coalition Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to meet the requirement of the hilly and far-off areas of the State by providing better road connectivity, healthcare, power, education, drinking water besides better lanes and drains. He said that there was no constraint of funds adding that UPA Government has provided liberal funding for this purpose adding that coalition partners have played their important role in this direction.

Saroori said NC-Congress Government in the State has made history in establishing Panchayat system and transferring powers to these democratically elected bodies. He appealed to Sarpanchs and Panchs to vote for coalition candidates to strengthen Panchayati Raj system in State adding that Panchayats would have their representatives of Upper House of legislatures and they highlight their issues , raise their voice for fully empowering Panchayats to come up to expectations of public.

Abdul Majid Wani, MLA Doda while discussing the problems faced by the hilly constituency of Doda assured that 90 per cent of Sarpanchs and Panchs will vote in favour of Coalition Candidates. He also said that this election will provide an ideal opportunity to workers of both these parties at grass root level to have better understanding of each other amongst themselves. This will ultimately lead to the strengthening of the present Coalition Government in the State. He assured the Panchs and Sarpanchs that election of both these candidates will go a long way in resolving the long pending issues of hilly and backward Constituency of Doda. Mr. Khalid Najib Suhrawardhy and Mr. Naresh Gupta also spoke on the occasion and appealed the Panches and Sarpanches to vote in favour of Mr. Sham Lal Bhagat and Dr. Shehnaz Ganai so that they win the election with thumping majority.

The contesting candidates Mr. Sham Lal Bhagat and Dr. Shehnaz Ganai assured the Panches and Sarpanches that they will leave no stone unturned to raise their issues vigorously and effectively in the Legislature. They also pledge that they will be visiting all the rural areas after the election in order to make a better understanding of the problems being faced by the common people.

Later on, the Ministers along with Legislator Mr. Mohammad Sharief Niaz, MLA Bhaderwah also addressed a well attended gathering of Panchs and Sarpanchs at Bhaderwah. Mr. Niaz, while addressing the gathering at Bhaderwah highlighted the problems being confronted by the people belonging to Bhaderwah Assembly Constituency. He assured that more than 90 percent the Panchs and Sarpanchs of Bhaderwah Assembly Constituency will cast their vote in favour of the Coalition Candidates. The meeting was also addressed by Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan and Mr. Mohd. Ashraf both leaders of Panches and Sarpanches who also assured that Panches and Sarpanches have full faith in the dynamic leadership of Coalition Partners and assured that the Coalition Candidates will come out with flying colours in the forthcoming elections.

Saroori extended Deepawali greetings.



Jammu: - Former Minister and Congress MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori greeted the people of the State on the eve of the festival of lights--Deepavali.

In his greetings, Saroori said "on the joyous occasion of Diwali, I extend my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to those living in elsewhere in the country".

"May the 'Festival of Lights' illuminate in us more brilliance, bring in progress and prosperity, wipe out the darkness of ignorance, ignite the spirit of unity and dedication in our mission to take our nation to greater heights", Saroori said, according to a Press statement issued from his Office.

Urdu language had played a vital role in maintaining national integration and communal harmony: - Saroori

Kishtwar: - In connection with World Urdu Day and Birth Anniversary  of Maulana Abul Kalaam Azad, Kishtwar Campus University of Jammu in collaboration with National Council for promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) Ministry of HRD Government of India organised one day national seminar on the subject ‘Urdu in Jammu and Kashmir Problems and Solutions’.

In the valedictory function, Dept of Urdu Delhi University Prof. Ali Javed was presided over by while Former Minister MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion Saroori said that Urdu language had played a vital role in maintaining national integration and communal harmony. Being the official language of the State, it is the duty of the State Govt to promote the language and give it a due share as it is the official and constitutional language.

He assured the gathering that he could raise the issue of Urdu language on the floor of the coming session of State Legislative Assembly. The valedictory function was presided over by Dept of Urdu Delhi University Prof. Ali Javed.

Prof. Ali Javed informed that after partition, Mahatma Gandhi was intended to make Urdu official language of India but due to lack of one vote it could not become the official language of India. He said that after partition some fundamentalist related Urdu with the particular religion for their self planted interest by which Urdu got a timely set back. It was the State of J and K which made the Urdu official and constitutional language of the State but only in papers.

Various speakers highlighted the importance of Urdu in J and K State and said that the language has a great relevance in the State as it is not only the official and constitutional language but also a link language between the three regions of the State.

Those who presented papers in the academic session included Fida Kishtwari, Abdul Salam Zargar, Dr Mohi-U-din Zohar, Prof. Ali Javed, Dr Reyaz Ahmed, Dr Chaman lal, Dr A R Manhas, Prof Majid Mujmir, Prof Nazir Ahmed Malik, Altaf Kishtrwari and others. In this paper they too demanded that Urdu be given its due in the State of J and K as its official language. They also highlighted various problems being faced by the language in the State.  A national book exhibition was also organized on the occasion. 

Director Kishtwar Campus Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik read a message of Vice Chancellor University of Jammu Prof M.P Singh Isher who in his message said that Jammu University is keen to promote the official language of the State that is Urdu.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Director Prof Shohab Inayat Malik.

Chenab Valley under focus for holistic development

Kishtwar - Reiterating the importance of peace in the process of sustained development and economic prosperity, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Friday said that some elements are bent upon putting wedge between various sections of the society and creating hatred to disturb tranquillity for their vested interests.
“It has been observed that some elements are trying time and again to disturb amity and brotherhood”, he said beseeching upon people to foil the nefarious designs aimed at disturbing peace. He asked them to uphold the secular characteristic and strengthen the pluralistic fabric in the State. 

Addressing the Annual Day function of Faredia Educational Institution, Kishtwar, the Chief Minister said that the peace and conducive atmosphere is all the more required for imparting education and keeping schools and colleges functional.

Omar Abdullah said that a comprehensive and equitable development process is being carried forward by his government all across the State adding that inclusive development and upliftment of backward pockets are receiving added attention. He said various mega projects have been started in the backward areas to generate economic activities and give fillip to the holistic development.

The Chief Minister said that the districts of Kishtwar, Doda, Reasi, Ramban and entire Chenab Valley has been focused for all round development and prestigious projects in power, road communication and other sectors have been launched to address development requirements of these areas and create jobs for youth.
Omar Abdullah said that four power projects are being launched in this region to generate about 3000 MWs of power and open new vistas of economic development besides generating numerous job opportunities for the youth of the backward and remote areas. He said Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited has started work on Pakuldul, Kiru and Kawar Hydro Electric Projects while Bursur-II is also being taken up by this agency for execution. “This would open up the Chenab Valley for all round development and economic welfare”, he said re-emphasizing the essentiality of peace and tranquillity for accomplishing the task of establishing these most prestigious power projects. 

The Chief Minister said that his government is vigorously pursuing at the Union Government level sanctioning of tunnels in Kishtwar and other such areas to enhance accessibility and link up the remote areas with main highways. The Central Government has already sanctioned tunnels at Z-Morh and Zojila. “We are hopeful that Vialo-Singpora tunnel to connect Kishtwar with Kashmir Valley will also be sanctioned soon”, he said highlighting the importance of tunnels in the communication network of a hilly State like Jammu and Kashmir.
Laying thrust on skill development while pursuing educational goals, Omar Abdullah stressed upon the youth to acquire required skills from the ITIs and Polytechnics opened by the government and enhance the status of their employability to get easily absorbed in the power and road communication projects under implementation in Chenab Valley. “Government has given strict instructions to the agencies implementing development projects for employing locals and providing them opportunities of getting associated in the works under various categories so that they could earn livelihood and generate economic avenues for them and others in the area”, he added.

The Chief Minister asked the people to get advantage of Public Service Guarantee Act where under service delivery has been made time bound in the nine departments connected with this job. He said the Act would not only ensure prompt and time bound service delivery but eradicate chances of corruption at the lower level.

“You have not to move now from post pillar for getting electric or water supply connection, state subject certificate or driving license, revenue papers or house building permission, ration card or SC/ST certificates, etc but government has made it mandatory for the concerned departments to deliver these services to the people within the fixed time frame after receiving the request in this regard. Any laxity or failure by the official in providing this service would make him liable for punishment and fine up to Rs. 5000 which shall be deducted from his salary and paid to the affected consumer”, he elaborated. 

Omar Abdullah said that his government has also initiated other measures to bring in transparency and reduce chances of corruption in the administration. He referred to the Constitution of State Information Commission and Reconstitution of State Accountability Commission adding that State Vigilance Commission is being constituted soon.


The Chief Minister announced Rs. 25000 award for the participants of gymnastics presented by the students of Faredia Educational Institute besides Rs. 1000 each to the students who spoke on various subjects on the occasion.

The Chief Minister appreciated the Faredia Educational Institute for its role in universalization of education in the area and said that he has asked the Auqaf to work out expansion and establishment of this institute with the management of Faredia Educational Institute.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah before living Kishtwar, Keeping in view of construction of upcoming power projects in Kishtwar District, Former Minister MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori stress on Chief Minister for up gradation of Kishtwar airport strip through NHPC under joint venture plan for which there is requirement of only Rs. 90 Cr funds. Omar while acknowledging the suggestion made by Mr. Saroori assured him that the suggestion will be looked into.

The function was also addressed by Minister of State for Haj and Auqaf, Ajaz Ahmad Khan and MLA Sajad Ahmad Kitchloo while Minister for State for R&B, Javid Ahmad Dar and Legislator G M Sarori were present on the occasion among others.

The Chief Minister also paid obeisance at the Dargah of Hazrat Shah Mohammad Asrar-u-Din Bagdadi (RA) and prayed for peace and development in the State and well being of people.

Kishtwar: - Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today visited Government Degree College Kishtwar. On his arrival in the college campus a guard of honour was presented to him by the NCC Cadets of the college. Principal of the college Dr. Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi welcomed the visiting MLA by presenting a bouquet to him. He apprised the MLA of the various achievements made by the college in curricular and extra curricular sphere and also highlighted the difficulties being faced by the college due to lack of infrastructure in the college. On this occasion Dr.Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi demanded early completion of under construction college boundary wall and construction of additional classrooms and science laboratories to accommodate increasing strength of students in the college. He further stated that the students of GDC Kishtwar are bestowed with natural intellect and are second to none in talent and capacity.

Saroori toured the premises of the college including College Library and Computer Lab. After seeing GDC lack various facilities he at once announced Rs One Lack (100000) for development of the GDC. He also interacted with Staff, Students and National Student Union of India (NSUI) unit of the college and praised the achievements made by the students of the college and also appreciated the college management for its outstanding performance despite poor infrastructure in the college. He said that the students have to face new challenges at National and International level to compete in different streams and accordingly it is need of the hour to provide them education of Par Excellence in the Government as well as Private institutions of higher learning. He impressed upon better teacher student relationship for ensuring bright future of new generation. Students apprised him about various problems faced by them and demanded that Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah should visit GDC Kishtwar. As he is schedule to pay obeisance at the Dargah Urs of Hazrat Shah Asrar Kishtwar this week.

He also assured that their genuine demands will be fulfilled in a phased manner so that the students of the college are benefited by the facilities. He said that he will take up the matter for additional classrooms and science laboratories with Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment Abdul Gani Malik for construction of additional classrooms and science laboratories at GDC Kishtwar and he will request CM Omar Abdullah to visit GDC Kishtwar.

Staff and Students of the college expressed their gratitude to the visiting MLA Saroori for this kind gesture.

MLA Inderwal laid foundation stone of Shinghpura Model Village.

Construction of Shinghpura-Viloo tunnel will boost Scio-economy of area.

Shinghpura:- Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori along with Block Development Officer Inderwal Qazi Masood Ahmed laid the foundation stone of Shinghpura Model Village to be constructed at the cost of Rs. 2.50 Cr. Large number of people from Shinghpura and its adjoining areas assembled at the site to witness the historic event held in the village which remains unconnected by means of roads and communication till 2010 before the central government announced PMGSY scheme for unconnected rural village. It was after announcement of PMGSY scheme by the central government, Rs. 14 Cr road project having the length of 26 KM from Tehsil headquarter Chatroo was sanctioned by the state government for the village in 2008 through R & B department, than head by the MLA Inderwal. The said road project was completed in the year 2010. The village is at the distance of 65 KM from District Headquarter and suddenly came into lime light with the announcement of the government plan to construct Shinghpura-Viloo tunnel, an alternative road link to Kashmir valley connection Chenab valley with Anantnag District of Kashmir province. With the construction of 5.5 KM long Sanpora-Viloo tunnel to be constructed at an approximate cost of nearly Rs. 600 Cr, the Kashmir valley which mostly remains cut off from the rest of the world will get all weather road connectivity, beside will be the shortest route to Kashmir valley from Lakhanpur once Bhaderwah-Bani-Basoli road project get completed. As soon as Mr. Saroori laid the foundation stone of Shinghpura Model Village, the local inhabitants were in celebration since the village witnessed poverty due to lack of development since the villagers suffers on account of two decades long militancy turmoil in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

While addressing the gathering, Saroori informed the local people that central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad and state government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah are making hard efforts for construction of Shinghpura-Viloo tunnel, which not only gives alternative road connectivity to the Kashmir valley but will also improve the Scio-economy status of the people of the area. He said that GREF is busy in preparing the prefeasibility report of the tunnel so that the work on this prestigious tunnel could be started. Mr. Saroori said that keeping in view of construction of Sanpora-Viloo tunnel, there is need to raise the standard of Shinghpura village on developmental front since the Shinghpura-village is the first village of Jammu province once the tourist from Kashmir valley enters into Jammu province once the Shinghpura-Viloo tunnel will be constructed. He said that with the construction of Model Village, the Shinghpura village will get face upliftment as Parks, Shops and other necessary infrastructure will be constructed under Model village. He urged the people to cooperate with Rural Development Department so that the target of construction of said model village will be achieved in stipulated time. He also distributed IAY cheques among the local inhabitants.

The local people also raise the demand of upgradation of health center, sanctioning of Anganwari centers, upgradation of Primary School, opening of Animal and Sheep husbandry centers. Saroori gives patience hearing to the public demands and assured them that all their genuine demands will be look into. He also informed the people that government has also sanctioned Rs. 8 cr for upgradation of Chatroo-Shinghpura road including black topping. Mr. Saroori was accompanied by local Sarpanches, Panches and officials from District Administration.

Distributed IAY & MPLAD cheques worth 31 lacs among beneficiaries at Chatroo.

Chatroo:- Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori during a series of public address at Chatroo said that peace is an imperative for development in entire Chenab valley and urged the people to maintain peace and communal harmony. Mr Saroori remarks come in wake of escalating tension in Chatroo Tehsil of Kishtwar District over the uploading of alleged blasphemy photographs on facebook. He warned the people over the nefarious designs of some vested interest people in the society who according to Mr Saroori are hell bent to disturb the peace and communal harmony in the area. He condemns the uploading of the blasphemous pictures on social networking site facebook and assured the people that the culprits will be punished under law. “I have already taken up the matter with honorable Union Home Minister, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, State DGPand other Senior Officers of police and District administration who assuredme that they will conduct through probe of blasphemy case so that the culprits will be booked under law.” Mr. Saroori said.


Saroori said that the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh was also aware about the case and said that both state as well as center government is committed to investigate the matter and punish the culprits. Mr. Saroori termed the uploading of blasphemous pictures on facebook as an attempt to derail the pace of development process in Jammu and Kashmir for which both center as well as center government is making all its efforts to provide betterquality facility to the people at door step.


He said that during last two years, state as well as center government has spent nearly Rs. 100 cr in last 2 years in Chatroo block alone through MGNREGA, PMGSY, BRGF, CDF, MPLAD, R & B, IAY and other state and centrally sponsored scheme. He urged the people to give peace a chance so that the developmental targets fixedby government for Chatroo and Kishtwar District could be achieved. He informed the people that revenue officials are already busy in preparing drought cases of the farmers so that same could be taken up with the honorable Chief Minister and Revenue Minister for sanctioning of reliefcases.


On this occasion Mr. Saroori along with Block Development Officer Inderwal Qazi Masood Ahmed distributed cheques worth Rs. 10.67 lacs as first installment of IAY @ Rs. 24250/each among 44 beneficiaries, beside Rs. 20.50 lacs were also distributed among 86 people out of MPLAD funds sanctioned by MP Chowdhary Lal Singh. Department of Science and Technologyalso distributed 30 solar lamps among the Schedule Tribe members. All the30 beneficiaries were given the solar lamps @ Rs. 500/each, while theactual cost of each solar lamp is Rs. 5500 in open market. Mr. Saroori was accompanied by senior Officials, Sarpanch Tariq Hussain, Bidya Lal, Haji Ghulam Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, Bashir Ahmed Ahanger, Nazir Ahmed Chowdhary, Abdul Rashid and Sheikh Basharat VP Youth Congress Inderwal.


Meanwhile people took strong exception of absenteeism of Tehsildar Chatroo as a result of which the people of the area suffered on account of day to day work. The agitating people also raised slogans against Tehsildar Chatroo and were pacified only after MLA Inderwal took up the matter with Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar who assured the people that Tehsildar Chatroo will attend his office regularly and will clear all the pending files in next two to three days.

Whereas Manzoor Ahmed Butt, Tanveer Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed, Abdul Hameed, Ghulam Nabi, Bashir Ahmed, Abdul Majeed, Mohd Rafie, Sajjad Ahmed, Mohd Shafi and other prominent persons who joined the Congress party in presence of Senior Congress Leader J&K Ghulam Mohammad Saroori.



In a statement issued here, welcoming the new entrants into the Congress party fold, Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori assured them to come up to their expectations and continue the developmental works and the welfare of the poor or down trodden people initiated by the Former Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir and Union Health Minister and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad. 




Saroori said that the doors of the party are always open for all those who believe in the programme and polices of the Indian National Congress and have faith in its leadership. He thanked Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for taking an initiative in the developmental works in all sectors in Inderwal Constituency. 




The new incumbents attributed the reasons of their joining the Congress to their disenchantment with the performance and policies of PDP, NC and BJP. They added that they are impressed with the performance, spirit of public service and the immaculate character of Mr Saroori.

Saroori appeals government to make arrangements for stocking essential commodities.

Jammu: - Former Minister and Congress MLA from Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has appealed to the government for making immediate arrangements for stocking essential commodities like Kerosene Oil, LPG Gas, Medicines, Ration in the Erstwhile District Doda keeping in view the forecast made by the metrology department for heavy snow fall from 3rd week of December.

In a press issue from here he asked the officials of District Administration especially Consumer Affair & Public Distribution Department to ensure adequate supply of essential commodities in areas under their jurisdiction and directed to streamline distribution system as per the fixed scale to the consumer. He said that people in rural areas of far off and remote areas often suffer with regard to required quota of Kerosene Oil and Ration which should be ensured on priority.

Saroori also made a plea with Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh Ji and Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Jenab M Veerappa Moiley Sb for provision of 12 Gas Cylinders to the people of Jammu and Kashmir per annum per family, keeping special circumstances in view that state experiences long spell of cold weather during winter months and therefore, adequate provision of Gas can bring some relief to them.

He said that a network of roads was initiated in the Erstwhile Doda District to provide better road connectivity to the people living in the most backward and far flung areas of the region. Expressing concern over delays in certain projects started by present Union Health Minister and Family Welfare and then Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Jenab Ghulam Nabi Azad Sb. He said Azad Sb during his last visit to Erstwhile District Doda also directed the concerned departments to ensure timely completion of the ongoing works and remove the bottlenecks impeding the completion of these projects. Still pace of all the projects are slow.

He also condemns the uploading of blasphemous image on social networking site at Chatroo and appeal to the people to maintain Harmony and Universal Brotherhood.

When contacted Director CAPD Jammu he said 15 Lack families are being provided with adequate supply of essential commodities at the fixed scale. He assured that distribution system would be further strengthened to avoid any complaint from any area in future. With regard to stocking of essential commodities in Jammu region, Director said that 72 percent of stocking of rice, 58 percent stocking of wheat and 75 percent stocking of sugar has already been completed and the remaining supply shall also be provided in the concerned hilly areas well before the onset of winter season.
