Allegation meant to damage Congress: Saroori

Srinagar, October 08: - Congress legislator and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori, while condemning former Army Chief V K Singh’s remarks, questioned their timing.

Saroori said Army had played a wonderful role in countering militancy in the State. But Gen Singh’s allegations were meant to damage the image of the Congress party, which is in coalition in the Jammu and Kashmir state.

“It is a move to defame Central and State governments. He should be brought here and asked to prove his allegations, and if he can’t he should be taken to court,” Saroori demanded.

The charges being of a serious nature and need to be probed to arrive at the truth. “The finger of suspicion is being pointed at all mainstream politicians, causing immense damage to the institution of democracy in the state and allowed forces inimical to democratic process to dub all mainstream politicians as paid operatives of the Army,” Saroori said.

He said resolution against the former Army chief was passed in the Assembly asking the Centre to conduct a thorough and time-bound probe into the charges levelled by former Army Chief V K Singh about political payoffs to mainstream politicians of the state, now Centre will decide whether to conduct probe in this matter or not.

Saroori also raised the issue of one Dil Mohammad labourer of his (Inderwal) constituency, who is missing for the past two months and wanted proper investigation to establish his whereabouts.

He urged government for improved irrigation and water supply (PHE) facilities in Inderwal constituency besides appropriate steps should be taken to redress the grievances regarding improvement of irrigation and water supply facilities in Inderwal constituency well in time.

5th meeting of the Kishtwar Development Authority

Rs 6 lack revenue generated by TRC Kishtwar Verinag chairlift project on anvil

Srinagar, October 07: - The Minister for Tourism and Culture Mr. Ghulam Ahmad Mir today directed the officers to identify the land for development under various schemes being implemented by the Kishtwar Development Authority (KDA) and take local representatives into confidence while taking any decisions for the purpose.

The 5th meeting of the Kishtwar Development Authority convened to review of financial and physical achievements of the Authority here today.

Discussing the matter of shifting of TRC Tund to Kishtwar, the Minister issued instructions to the concerned that a piece of land measuring 5 kanals be identified for construction of a Tourist Hut at Tund out of the funds already placed at the disposal of KDA.

The meeting was informed that the Kishtwar Development Authority (KDA) was created in Sept.2005 with the main objective to make holistic and integrated development by creating infrastructure in order to tap vast tourist potential of the area in view of lush green meadows, high snow peak mountains and above all taking full advantage of connectivity with district Anantnag of Kashmir valley through Synthen top/valley which can develop into a viable tourist circuit resulting boost of economic activity under Public Private Partnership mode in this far-flung and hilly area.

He also directed that the areas in Wadwan, Marwah and Dachan be given priority while creating tourism infrastructure which will not only pave way for boosting the tourism potential of the area but will provide employment opportunities to the youth.

The meeting was informed that 6 projects were sanctioned for construction by the KDA under PIDDC since2006 out of which two projects namely Destination and Development phase-I and Phase –II stands completed while as work on other projects is in progress.

The meeting was informed that the building for TRC Kishtwar at a cost of Rs 1.85 crore and Tourist amenities at Bimalnag at a cost of Rs 55.25 lac have been completed. It was also given out in the meeting that the Restaurant at TRC along with assets at Mughal Maidan, Dadpeth, Saddorn Safari, Pochall and water sports centre at Dool stands outsourced for three years.

It was informed in the meeting that the revenue generated on account of TRC till date is Rs 6.00 lacs while as an additional amount of Rs 3.40 lac have been received on account of 40% of contract amount from Restaurant at TRC Saffron Safari Pochhal, Water sports centre Dool and way site amenities Mughal Maidan.

The meeting was attended by Legislators which include Mr. G M Saroori and Mr Sajad Ahmed Kichloo, besides Commissioner Secretary, Tourism, Mr AtalDullo, Director Tourism, Jammu, Mr Soujanya Sharma, CEO, KDA and other senior officers of Tourism department also attended the meeting.

Congress condole demise of Ghulam Rasool Teli and Tosha Bhat.

Doda, September 26: - In a meeting here at Thathri Dak Bunglow under the chairmanship of Former Minister and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori today expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Ghulam Rasool Teli, father of Congress Block President Thathri, Mohammad Iqbal Teli and Tosha Bhat wife of Avtar Krishan Bhat and mother of PTI Jammu Bureau Chief Anil Bhat passed away at her residence, Jammu.

They described Ghulam Rasool Teli as social worker of Phigsoo, Thathri. Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, Congress leaders said that Teli’s social services would be remembered for a long time to come. He said his teachings are beacon lights for the society and the coming generations.

Congress leaders said that late Ghulam Rasool Teli always worked for strengthening communal harmony and brotherhood and was put in high regard by every community for his deeds.

One died, 8 Bharati injured in Kishtwar accident.

Srinagar, Oct 07: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today expressed grief and shock over the tragic accident near Thathri in which one person died and 8 other got injured.

“The mishap occurred when a Xylo vehicle bearing No: JK17-1658 meet with an accident near Thathri, district Doda. The ill-fated vehicle was carrying Bharat and was on its way from Phagumar to Thathri when the driver of the vehicle lost his control over the vehicle and plunged it into 50 feet deep gorge. Among the nine passengers on board, Kajal Devi (22 yrs) daughter of Munshi Ram resident of Sarthal died on spot.

Conveying his condolences Saroori expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Saroori issued instructions to the doctors of District Hospital Kishtwar for taking extra care to the injured and ensuring all possible treatment to the injured. Those injured in the accident should be provided free of cost medical treatment, he added. He also prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the accident.

He regretted that such accidents have become a routine affair but no concrete action has been taken so far by the government to save precious human lives.
Saroori urged the government to take safety measures on this hilly and tough road to avoid further damage to the human life in future.

Implement decisions taken in DDB meetings: Saroori

9 out of 16 DTs repaired in Inderwal

Srinagar: - The EM&RE pision, Kishtwar has taken over 41 Distribution Transformers (DT) out of 63 installed by the contractor in Inderwal constituency while 9 damaged DTs stand repaired out of 16 damaged and 7 DT are in the process of repairs with the contractor.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Power, Mr. Vikar Rasool while replying to a Calling Attention Notice by MLA Inderwal Mr. G. M. Saroori in the Legislative Assembly.

The Minister said that for adherence to approved standards, the material used in RGGVY schemes including transformers is inspected at different stages from manufacturing to installation at site.

Besides, there is a three tier inspection mechanism for adherence to standards as per the guidelines of the scheme by a team of qualified, expert and senior level engineers from National Power Training Institute New Delhi Water and Power Consultancy Services Haryara (WAPCOS), a Government of India undertaking as Third Party an Inspection.

Mr. G.M. Saroori also sought implementation of decisions taken in various DDB meetings, with special mention of establishment of new health centres in his area.

Foundation stone for 1341.60 lacs IWMP project sanction for Chatroo Tehsil also laid by Saroori

Public awareness program on Watershed management held at Mughal Maidan.

Kishtwar September 24:- Department of Integrated Watershed and Management Program (IWMP) today held a public awareness camp at Dadpath and Mughal Maidan area of Chatroo Tehsil of Kishtwar District and apprise the people about the two centrally sponsored schemes to be executed by the department in the area at the cost of Rs. 1341.60 lacs under Integrated Watershed Management program.

On this occasion by the centrally sponsored schemes named as Sigdi II (852.60 lacs) and Sigdi III (489.00 lacs) were inaugurated by MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori by laying foundation stone at Dadpath, Mughal Maidan and Sigdi in presence of large number of people.

“Union government under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh is committed for over all development of the backward areas of the state of Jammu and Kashmir”, Saroori said while addressing the public awareness camps at Dadpath, Mughal Maidan and Sigdi.

He said that union government has accorded sanction to three projects for Inderwal constituency under IWMP at an estimated cost of 1928.25 lacs. He said that two more projects named as Keshwan-Pakalan and Kither-Patnazi costing nearly 15 crore are in pipeline and added that within next two to three months, the union government will also accorded sanction to these projects as well.

Saroori said that union government is generous in allotting the funds to the state government under various developmental programs and urge the people to make judicious use of these funds, beside urge the officers of the District, Tehsil and Block level to work in coordination for better implementation of government schemes so that the people in real sense can avail the benefits of these schemes.

He said that central government flagship schemes like MGNREGA, NRHM and RAMSA has already started yielding results. He said that MGNREGA has changed the economic condition of the poor masses and said that he was hopeful that with the proper implementation of IWMP projects, the economic condition of the people living in these areas will improve further. He said that in order to check the corrupt practices in MGNREGA, central government has introduced Electronic Muster-sheet system and advice the job card holders to apply for guaranteed job in the office of concern BDO, VLW or Gram Sevak, beside provide a 16 digit bank account so that the money could be deposited directly in the bank account of the job card holder.

Saroori also praise the food security bill passed by the UPA government recently and added that food security bill will assure guarantee for two time meal for poor population of the country.

He also urge the people to maintain peace, communal harmony and brotherhood in the area and also urged them not to fall prey to the decisive forces who wants to divided the people on the name of religions.

Sarthal, September, 23: - Underlining the importance of sports activities as vital for shaping overall personality of the youth, Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today stressed the need for promoting sports culture by holding regular championships and tournaments especially in remote and border areas of the state.

Mr Saroori who was chief guest at a wrestling competition, organized by the Dangal Committee Sarthal, said that the state government should prioritized creation of adequate sports infrastructure right from block level to revive the sports culture in the state.

“Being one of the oldest sporting discipline, wrestling remains a passion with its practitioners and fans whose number is no less, notwithstanding the challenge being posed by other popular games”, Saroori said while wrestling competition at his hometown Sarthal in Block Drabshallah.

Mr Saroori urged the youngsters to participate in the game in a big way and prepare for various national and international events with a sense of commitment. “Like any other sports, the youngsters can take wrestling as a profession”, he said adding that this calls for resilience, devotion and hard work.

“We have no dearth of talent but the need is to identify and sharpen their skills in a professional manner”, he said and urged the youngsters to benefit from various facilities being offered by the government.

Mr Saroori wished the participating wrestlers success in their chosen field and exhorted them to take away time for giving necessary tips to the budding sportspersons in the field.

Mr Saroori said such events also help in promoting friendly relationship among the people of different culture and traditions adding that sports were vital for a healthy society. He hoped that the Committee will continue to hold such type of contests to encourage the local talent in the area.

The first bout winner wrestler Taraq Hussain was awarded 5,000 and gifts and the runner up Aashiq Hussain got Rs. 3,000 while the second bout winner wrestler Shameem Ahmed was awarded Rs.2, 000 and runner up Shah Din Hussain got gifts- and the third bout winner wrestler got only the gifts.
