Saroori demanded probe without any delay

Kishtwar, August 13: - Vice President J&K Congress Mr. G. M. Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) expressed shock and anger over the mysterious death of a 15 year old student after drowning in a river in Katersamni village of this mountainous district Kishtwar.

Aqib Hussain son of Ghulam Hussain resident of Mughal Maidan at present Wasserkund Kishtwar slipped into the river while he was taking bath on its banks, and was washed away. The incident took place when the deceased boy was on picnic with his friends.

Saroori asked for a probe so as to ascertain the truth behind the sudden death of a teenager and also to expose any foul play. He has demanded a probe by a special JK Police team over the drowning of a student in a river without any delay or callousness to find out the details of this case.
He said that this is really a matter of serious concern which needs to be investigated by the special JK Police team. “Any non-seriousness shown by the government in this regard could lead to further alienation and sense of fear among other students", Saroori added.

Saroori also condoled the sad demise of Aqib Hussain and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. He prayed to the Almighty Allah for peace to the departed soul and prayed to give courage of the family to bear this irreparable loss.

It is pertinent to mention that the friends of the missing youths, including 5th standard student informed the police that they along with Aqib went for a picnic on the bank of river Chenab, adding Aqib went for swimming but was drowned. They said that they tried their best to save him, but the strong currents of water consumed him.

Bunjwah/Sarthal, August 12: - Vice President J&K Congress G. M. Saroori today said equipping rural and far flung areas of Tehsil Bunjwah and Sarthal with all required infrastructure is his priority and mega-projects have been launched to upgrade rural infrastructure. He said focused attention is being paid to transform development profile of these areas which were lagging behind in the overall development front.

Saroori asserted that early redressal of people’s grievances and problems is his top priority and I am committed to ensure speedy redressal of grievances at people’s doorsteps besides committed to the people living in far-off areas of Inderwal constituency and all out efforts have been launched to address development aspirations of these people,” he added.

He was addressing public meetings here at Bunjwah and Sarthal areas of district Kishtwar.
 
During these public meetings, people projected various demands and problems of their respective areas seeking an early redressal of the same. MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori listened to the grievances of people and issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned officers for early redressal of the same. The issues which were brought to the notice of the Mr. Saroori pertained to improvement in the drinking water supply, road connectivity, electricity besides black topping on Dunadi-Bunjwah road and other basic facilities.
 
Responding to demands and grievances of the people, Mr. Saroori assured the people of these villages that their genuine issues would be considered and redressed in a time bound manner. He said he has already directed the JKPCC department regarding the black topping on the road but due to low rate no contractor is doing work on the said road. He said that he has already taken up the matter of blacktopping on Bunjwah road with Minister R&B and he is hopeful that Minister will take some concrete steps in this regard so that blacktop will be done. He said directed the concern departments to initiate necessary steps for early redressal of the genuine problem being confront to the public.

Saroori also inaugurated the Dashkrya shed constructed under his Constituency development funds (CDF) at an estimate cost of Rs. 3 lakhs at Lava Sarthal.

Later Saroori also visited the residence of those who recently passed away in Bunjwah area including Abdul Rehman, Haji Master Nissar Ahmed, Ghulam Hassan Keen, Saida Begum, Naseer Ahmed and others.

Mr. Saroori stayed with the bereaved families and expressed his sympathy and solidarity with them, offered fatiyah, consoled the family members and prayed to the Almighty Allah for eternal peace to the departed souls beside a place for them in heaven.

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear irreparable loss.

Pray for prosperity and development of JK; attended two conventions of JKPCC

Kupwara, August 10: - Vice President J&K Congress Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Senior Congress Leader and former J&K Minister Taj Mouhiuddin and others visited Kupwara and paid obeisance at Darbar-e-Aliya Younisia and participated in the congregation ceremony. The Congress leaders offered prayers seeking for the peace, prosperity, tranquility of state and development of the State besides well being of the people and improvement in the weather.

During the congregation religious scholars threw light on the Islamic ideology and teachings of Islam. The speakers also underscored the importance of Islamic teachings in present day world. They also stressed upon people to put in collective efforts for the eradication of social evils.

Earlier Saroori also attended two conventions of JKPCC including the one day session of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Executive Committee was held at Pahalgam in Anantnag district and another one at Haritar, Sangrama in Baramullah district. President JKPCC Mr. G. A. Mir presided over these two conventions.

The meeting was also attended by all the Office bearers of PCC, Members of the Executive, District Presidents, Contesting Candidates of the party besides heads / representatives of Frontal Organizations of the Party.

Describing Congress Party as an instrument of Service to the people and having always worked for upliftment and well being of the people keeping aside their caste, colour, region or religion, Saroori in his address said that Congress Party has always defeated the autocratic behavior of those who believe in suppressing or oppressing and victimizing the masses or opponents while in power.

Congress Party has always and shall work for the overall development, betterment and well being of the people, as this party (Congress) alone has delivered enough and has the commitment and conviction to make the State of Jammu and Kashmir a progressive developing and bring this State at par with other States of the Country, JKPCC Vice President said.

Saroori said that Congress party is a vibrant situation in all the three regions of the State and has the will to take everyone on board with regard to development of the state and people with enthusiasm. Congress is committed to make the State of Jammu and Kashmir self reliant in every respect, he said.

He urged the Party Workers to remain alert and defeat those forces who want to run their business by dividing the people on communal line and disturbing the secular character of the State. Congress Party and its workers are capable enough to defeat those forces, he said.

Mr. Saroori also presented the resolution in the convention regarding strengthening of organization network and ensuring discipline in the party and resolution was later unanimously adopted after threadbare deliberations by the house.

Environment Committee to inspect health institutions

‘5 sites identified for disposal of Biomedical Waste’

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 04: - The Environment Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today called for close monitoring of the pollution control measures in various health institutions of the state. The Committee decided to conduct on spot inspection of various hospitals both in public and private sector.

This was announced at a meeting of the Environment Committee held here today under the chairmanship of MLA, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori.

Legislators, Shamima Firdous, Dr Gagan Bhagat, Dina Nath, Neelam Kumar Langeh, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Yawar Ahmed Mir, Anjum Fazili, Altaf Ahmed Wani, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Daleep Singh, Mumtaz Ahmad, Gulzar Ahmed Wani, Devinder Kumar Manyal, Aijaz Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Abass Wani and Dr Krishan Lal attended the meeting.

The Committee decided that the members will start with inspecting hospitals, nursing homes in Srinagar district followed by inspection of health institutions in North and South Kashmir. Likewise, the health institutions of Jammu division shall also be inspected by the members of the Committee.

Earlier, Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari briefed the Committee about various measures in place in various health institutions for scientific disposal of the biomedical waste.

He said five Biomedical Waste Common Treatment Plants (BMWCTPs) are coming up in the State. The Committee sought report on these five sites for Biomedical Waste disposal.

The Committee also sought status report from the Health and Medical Education department on issues related to health hazards due to biomedical waste in and around hospitals and steps needed to dispose it scientifically.

Chairman, Pollution Control Board, MD NHM and other senior officers of concerned departments besides officers and officials of Assembly Secretariat were also present on the occasion.
