Jammu March 9:- Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has expressed his gratitude to Government of India for according sanction and funds for construction of Sangpora-Viloo tunnel in Chatroo area of Kishtwar District. With the construction of Sangpora-Viloo tunnel, twin Districts of Doda and Kishtwar will be connected with Kashmir valley almost throughout the year.
Mr. Saroori in a statement expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister of India Mr. Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir Mr. Omar Abdullah and Union Health Minister Jenab Ghulam Nabi Azad Sb for helping in sanctioning the tunnel. He said that Government of India under the leadership of PM Manmohan Singh is committed for over all development of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Saroori said that Singpora Viloo tunnel is considered as a life line for the people of Chenab valley since the 5 KM long tunnel not only connects Chenab valley with Srinagar, but also helps in improving the Scio-economic condition of the area which is considered as most backward area in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the construction of the tunnel will benefit local people in many ways and will give employment to the locals and due to this tunnel length of Jammu to Srinagar via Kishtwar will be reduced to 100km. He said that with the construction of tunnel will also help to find a viable solution to the problem faced by the people of valley which mostly remains cut off from the rest of the world during winter session due presence of snow covers on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Saroori said that Government of India has sanctioned approximately Rs. 400 Cr at the initial stage and decided to hand over the construction work to GREF.
