Kishtwar: - Expressing grief over the loss of precious lives in the
tragic road accident that occurred at Kishtwar-Sinthan-Srinagar
National Highway on September 20, 2012, Former Minister and Member
Legislative Assembly (MLA) G M Saroori has demanded grant of adequate
ex-gratia relief to the victims’ families. In a statement issued here on
Saturday, MLA conveyed his heart felt sympathies to the bereaved
families and prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the
accident.
Saroori demanded immediate ex-gratia relief of rupees five lakh to the next of kin of each deceased while he sought rupees one lakh to those who received critical injuries and rupees ten thousand to the persons who sustained minor injuries.
Those injured in the accident should be provided free of cost medical treatment, he added. He regretted that such accidents have be come a routine affair but no concrete action has been taken so far by the government to save precious human lives.
Senior Congress leader also demanded to take effective steps in checking frequent accidents adding that the government should direct Traffic Police to keep a strict check on overloading and plying of old model buses due to which road mishaps have become a routine affair.
It is worthwhile to mention here that two persons Tariq Masood (30) son of Ghulan Ali Sheikh resident of Rakna Palmar and Nabi Baksh (50) son of Asadullah resident of Matta Kishtwar died at District Hospital Kishtwar due to accident which took place when an Alto vehicle on its way from Kishtwar to Chatroo was hit by a Tipper near Gagarmal as a result of which the ill fated vehicle falls into the deep gorge were killed and 1 others sustained injury. In another accident 3 members of a family got injured when an auto turns turtle near Bindraband on Kishtwar-Chatroo road. Abdul Rashid (55 yrs) son of Rustum Ali, Haneefa begum (52 yrs) wife of Ghulam Rasool and Yasir Hussain (32 yrs) son of Ghulam Rasool all resident of Marmat Doda.
