Congress leaders refute comments of critics

Kishtwar: - In a joint statement Congress leaders including Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Thakur Jughal Bhandari, Mohinder Singh Parihar, Sarfraz Khan, Iqbal Keen, Noor Hussain, Satish Kumar, Ravi Shan, Shanker Wazir, Piyaray Lal Sharma, Mansoor Mattoo, Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, Bashir Thakrie, Farooq Drought, Bidya Lal, Choudhary Issaq, Kalash Chander, Asgar Khangi, Tariq Mintoo, Akhtar Tatani and others. 
 
On the occasion of Annual function day of Degree College Kishtwar Hon’ble MLA Inerwal G M Saroori had announced that Hon’ble Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare had released Rs 2.50crore for the construction of auditorium at Kishtwar. Same amount had been released by Mr Azad at Doda, Bhaderwah and Ramban. Due to non-availability of land the work at Kishtwar auditorium has not been started yet but other places work has been started simultaneously.

Some leaders of Kishtwar to whom this news has pinched are propagating and befooling the public that no funds have been sanction out of MPLAD by Mr G N Azad for Kishtwar.

It is also for the information of general public of District Kishtwar that worthy District Development Commissioner has already been directed to identify the land for the construction of said auditorium and the DDC Kishtwar is already on job and soon after the identification of the land, the auditorium will be constructed and completed at an earliest.

The leaders of Kishtwar who doesn’t want the development of Kishtwar but only to criticized for their self-interest may know that after a gap of long 25 years neither it was Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Ghulam Mohd Shah, Farooq Abdullah but it was none other than Mr Azad who granted the District status to Kishtwar along with other 7 Districts. Will the leaders who are criticizing for their political milege can deny this fact.

Inaugurated School building and inspected various developmental projects.

Kishtwar, December 31: - Former Minister and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori during his extensive tour visited Sarthal Angara and Chatroo area of District Kishtwar where he inaugurated the newly high School building at Sarthal which was constructed with an amount of Rs 9.80 Lack.

Saroori took stock of all the ongoing works of development programme in the area, the public in particular demand for the process of ration on the bases of 2001 census and early dumping of ration to far flung areas as the snow fall is on head. He stressed upon all departments to take every possible steps for early redress of grievances of public particularly, he desired that Rural Development Department (RDD) for early payment of job cards holder who have completed then assigned job. He further described the district administration to remain vegal during the winter session to take all the efforts to tackle the situation.

He inspected 12 km under construct Thal Kwath road at Chatroo where at Zevla area the construction of road was stop because people wanted a zig over there. Interacting with the local people Saroori directed concerned officer immediate construct a zig which will also connect Neera and Durbeel area. He said he is fully committed for the betterment of people living in the rural areas of Inderwal Constituency and reiterated his commitment to provide every nook and corner of the constituency with road connectivity. He asked the concerned officers to redouble their efforts in completing the construction work and other ongoing developmental works in the area at the earliest. He said people’s cooperation is imperative to make the area progressive and prosperous. He called upon the people not to pay heed to the nefarious designs of those who mislead people by false slogans to meet their vested interests.

On the occasion the speakers appreciated Saroori for monitoring every development work and step taken by him in Inderwal constituency.

Saroori addresses students and faculty of Degree College Kishtwar.



Later Saroori along with Asgar Peer visited Kishtwar campus and interacted with Students as well faculty members.

Kishtwar, December 27: - Former Minister and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori today visited Government Degree College Kishtwar and address the Staff members as well as Students of the Degree College.

Mr Saroori heard the problems of students, which they were facing in the college during the academic session. While responding to the students demands he revealed that the Degree College Kishtwar is unique college which we have been given after sacrifice of four youths in 1974. He also said District status to Kishtwar has been given by Ghulam Nabi Azad Hon’ble Union Health Minister, for District the Kishtwari people had also given sacrifice but after a long gap of 15 years, it was Mr Azad who gave a District status to Kishtwar. He assured the students that their demands will be highlighted and will be brought into the notice of higher authorities and redressed at an earliest.

Mr Saroori also announced that auditorium will be built at Kishtwar to which funds have already been sanctioned by G N Azad Union from his MPLAD funds and the revenue authorities are identifying the suitable land for the said.

He also said that Annual day of the college was to be celebrated and chaired by the Hon’ble Higher Education Minister, but due to the bad weather the said programme has been postponed for next 4-5 days.

Meanwhile Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori along with MLC Kishtwar Syed Asgar Ali today visited Kishtwar Campus and interacted with the students and faculty members of the campus. Director of the Kishtwar Campus Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik presented a brief resume of the campus. He informs presently campus is running four courses viz. M.Sc-IT, M.Sc-Geology (Hydrology and Soil Dynamics), M.A Kashmiri and PGDCA having more than 100 students. The construction work of the academic block, Boys & Girls Hostel is going to start very soon. The Director further inform that 101 Kanal land has been identified and notified by the revenue department for the campus, but due to the non-payment of compensation the university had not still acquire the land. Prof Shohab further said that Govt. had not released Grant-in-Aid to the Kishtwar Campus and other campuses of Jammu University for this financial year because of which Campus is facing great financial crunch. He demanded that Grant-in-Aid be increased from 30 Lakh to 70 Lakhs per annum so that Campus could run effectively. He also presented a brief resume of literary and cultural activities which has been organized by the Kishtwar Campus during the last 6 months.

Saroori while speaking on the occasion said that regarding the education in Kishtwar Campus all should be above politics he described today's interaction session a successful one as speakers highlighted the aims and objectives of the academics. He said that he would talk to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, M.P.S Isher to start Persian department in the KISHTWAR CAMPUS as Kishtwar is a land of Persian scholars which had produced Persian Scholars like Kamgar Kishtwari, Ulfat Kishtwari, Nishat Kishtwari and others. Saroori said that Kishtwar had a lot of scope for various Power Projects and it needed to be explored. KISHTWAR CAMPUS can explore these projects therefore job oriented courses be introduced in Kishtwar Campus in near future. The former Minister said that he would raise the various problems of Kishtwar Campus with the concerned authority. He also offered his full support to the Kishtwar Campus.

While interacting to the faculty and student of the campus the MLC Kishtwar Peer Asgar Ali in detailed threw light on the role of university. He suggested that one Counseling and Guidance cell be started in Kishtwar Campus where experts on different subject be invited for preparation of the competitive exams. The cell could gain money also for the Centre. The G.M. Saroori and Peer Asgar Ali were also honored on these occasions. The Director Kishtwar Campus presented shawl to both the dignitaries. The proceeding of the program was conducted by Naseer-ul-Haq while vote of thanks was presented by Mubasher Hussain. Later MLA and MLC visited Geology and IT Labs. Those who were present on the occasion including, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Mr Sharik Ahmed, Mr. Ashok Kumar Sen, Mr. Ghulam Mohi-ul-Din Rahi, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Mugal, Mr. Nisar Ahmed Doolwal, Mr. Shahnawaz Hussain, Mr. Naveen Sharma and others.

GREF laborers held protest against disengagement.

Kishtwar, December 27: - Disengaged GREF laborers today held a strong protest outside DC office Kishtwar and later sit on Dharna inside the DC Office Complex Kishtwar protesting against the disengagement from the job the GREF authorities executing construction work on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Srinagar National Highway. The agitating GREF workers demands incentives as per the laborer laws including final before being disengaged. As per the reports GREF officials at Kishtwar disengage nearly 1100 laborers from job who among them are working with the organization since last 18-20 years. The agitating laborers condemn their disengagement during winter season and termed the move of Commanding Officer 118 RCC GREF Kishtwar as inhuman. They said that with disengaging, their family members were at the verge of starvation and threaten to lodge an agitation in case their demands could not be meted out. The agitating laborer gives an ultimatum of one week to the GREF authorities to redress their grievances and in case of failure threaten to lodge an agitation.

They only lift the dharna after the intervention of former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori and also that from Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad Chowdhary. They assured them that they will take up the matter with the Labor minister as well as with honorable Chief Minister for viable solution to their genuine demands.

Saroori flag in OP Sadbawna tour at Kishtwar.


Kishtwar Dec 23:- In order to instill a sense of national integration among the people of remote and backward areas of J&K, an educational cum motivational tour to Trivandrum, Coimbatore and Ooty comprising of two teachers and 22 youths organized by Jangalwar based Rashtriya Rifles Battalion. The tour consisted of youth from remotest areas of Kishtwar district bordering Anantnag and Leh district belong to different government and private educational institutes

The tour which was flagged off by General Officer Commanding, Headquarters, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) on December 7, 2012 was today flagged in by Mr G M Saroori, MLA Inderwal at Kishtwar Helipad in presence of important military and civil dignitaries including Brig Hitesh Kohli, Commander 9 Sector RR, DC Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad Chowdhary, SP Kishtwar Bhim Sen Tuti, ASP Kishtwar Kulbir Singh, Project Head GVK R K Khali.


Saroori in his address designated the youth participating in the tour as the ambassadors of J&K, who visit the South Indian destinations and share their experiences about the rich and diverse culture, tradition, heritage and the advancement made in the areas they would visit with one and all in their native places on return. He congratulated the participants and hoped that the educational tour would have given the children an opportunity to see for themselves, how peace and tranquility in other parts of the country has ushered in prosperity. He hoped that the children would have brought back with them rich experiences and would spread the message of peace and harmony in their own little way amongst their family and friends. He also complimented the troops of Rashtriya Rifles unit for having achieved excellent synergy with the environment.


The tour accompanied, guided and administered by one officer, one JCO and two NCOs spent 16 days in travel and sightseeing as well as interaction with civil and military dignitaries and students at various educational institutions. They visited places like Kovalam Beach, Natural History Museum, Sri Chitra Art Gallery, Museum of Science and Technology, East Fort, Napier Museum, Zoological Park and Padmanabha Swamy Temple. They also visited a PG College and interacted with students; however the main attraction at Trivandrum was visit to Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and Priyadarshini Space Planetorium.


They also visited the Air Force Station, Coimbatore and were given the opportunity to witness the final dress rehearsal of Standard Presentation by President. At Ooty, the tour was rendered a very warm welcome by Commandant and all ranks of the Madras Regimental Centre, and the youth got an opportunity to interact with the Commandant over high tea. They were also given a brief on evolution of Indian Army and Madras Regiment by audio visuals. During their stay at Ooty they also visited SIMs Park, Boat House, Botanical garden and Dotta Betta Hill, from where they viewed the Eastern and Western Ghats as well as their junction through a telescope installed there.

CHATROO (KISHTAWAR) DECEMBER 23- Strongly advocating for construction of proposed 5-Km long Chatroo-Singpora-Vailoo tunnel connecting Kishtwar with Kashmir valley, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affiars, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today said it will also help to provide a nearest all weather alternate highway between Jammu to Srinagar besides providing short duration travel to Shri Amarnath Ji Yatris’.
Addressing a large public gathering at Chatroo in District Kishtwar, Mr. Rather said that the proposed tunnel is reportedly a one hour journey to reach to Vailoo in Anantnag Kashmir from Kishtawar. “On completion the tunnel will go a long way in developing a mega tourist circuit between Pahalgam- Baderwah- Lakhanpur- Himachal Pradesh, thereby bringing socio economic prosperity in the entire region, “Mr. Rather said and assured the people of Kishtawar that he would personally take up this long pending demand of the people with the concerned higher authorities both at Central and State Levels".

Mr Rather said, apart from huge power potential, the Chenab Valley is also endowed with the vast treasure of hydel resources, which if tapped fully would make the State not only self sufficient in power but can generate surplus energy for export to other parts of the State. He said, it is for the first time that the present government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah has made a determined effort to harness this hydel potential of the State in a big way adding that J&K Hydroelectric Projects Development Policy 2011 was approved by the State Cabinet under which ten projects of 172 MW capacity were tendered out. Not only has this, in view of the tremendous importance of power generation in the socio-conomic emancipation, a multipronged strategy been devised to generate 6000 MWs of Power during the 12th & 13th Five Year Plans. Besides a separate corporation in the name of Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited has been constituted which will execute 2120 MW three Power Projects in the Chenab Basin in joint venture with J&K State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) and National Hydro Power Development Corporation (NHPC). “Implementation of 690 MW Ratle Hydro Electric Project, under IPP mode, is also going on in full swing as per the schedule,” Mr. Rather said adding that the day is not far off when J&K will be a self reliant Power State. Power projects in Chenab Basin will change the destiny of the poor people of this beautiful valley, which has remained mostly unattended.

Mr. Rather assured the people of the district that the government will leave no stone unturned to redress their genuine grievances at the earliest. He said it is the main agenda of the coalition government to ensure equitable and balanced development of all the areas of the state.

Speaking on the occasion, the local MLA Mr. G. M. Saroori sought Finance Minster’s personal intervention for arranging an on the spot recruitment drive in Army & J&K police at Chatroo & Kahara areas of his constituency so that local youth can get jobs. He also requested the Finance Minister’s to intervene for getting approval of the Centre for Construction of Singpora-Vailoo tunnel. He also demanded representation to the Doda district in the Gujjar and Backward Development Board.

Rather inaugurates Govt Treasury at Kahara, Doda.

Says special dev grants for bad pockets to be a permanent feature of State’s budget.

DODA, DECEMBER 22- Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today inaugurated government treasury at Kahara, a remote and rugged hilly terrain in district Doda, bringing six more backward places, on the treasury map of the State within a week. These treasury included Assar (Doda), Manjakote (Rajouri) and Ramsoo (Ramban) which were opened with a view to provide better service to the people of far-flung and inaccessible areas with regard to clearance of pension claims and bills.

The inauguration of another government treasury at the far-flung of Warwan in Doda district could not be done due to recent heavy snowfall there which was also slated to the Commissioned today.

After inauguration the treasury, Mr. Rather while addressing a large public gathering at Kahara, Mr. Rather said that speedy development of bad pockets and underdeveloped areas of the State is the first priority of the coalition government adding that for the first time in the history of J&K, Special funds have been earmarked in the Annual Budget for the development of the bad pockets which shall be over and above the normal funds. He said the allocation of special funds for development of bad pockets shall now be a permanent feature of the State’s Annual Budget.

Mr. Rather said, keeping in view the importance of treasuries and banks in the socio-economic transformation, the coalition government soon after taking the charge decided to open more treasuries especially in remote and backward areas adding that in 2008 the number of treasuries was only 112 which has increased to 128 during the last four years of the present dispensation. He hoped that opening of treasuries in Kahara would prove a harbinger of socio-economic progress in the area. He said though Kahara did not fall within the norms, but in view of its backwardness, the treasury was sanctioned here, out of way, after getting the cabinet nod. He also announced a modern Treasury building at Kahara.

Mr. Rather said that the Government is well abreast with the problems of the people adding that the present coalition is a conscious decision of two big secular and democratic political parties of the State to join hands and utilize their energies and capabilities for the betterment and welfare of the people. Mr. Rather said both the partner are working in tandem to come upto the expectation to the people especially belonging to the backward and downtrodden sections of the people.

Responding to the demands of the people, the Minster said that Bijli Adalats, as assured in the budget speech, to settled disputes regarding power tariff shall be put in place shortly. He said financial requirements with regard to enhancing stipend of Rehbar-i-Zerat candidates from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 3000 as announced in the Budged speech have already been put at the disposal of the concerned department and orders in this regard are expected shortly. He said the demand for giving block status to Kahara shall be favorably considered as soon as the committees for creation of new administrative units submit its final recommendations to the government.

Mr. Rather said that his visit to the far flung areas of Doda district has given him a clear feedback about the problems and difficulties of the people. The Minister along with local MLA also distributed IAY cheques among the SC/ST beneficiaries of the area.

Mr. Saroori also spoke on the occasion and thanked the Minister for sanctioning Treasury and J&K Bank branch at Kahara. He demanded adequate funds, out of Rs. 9 crore sanctioned by the Task force, for improving LT/HT in remote areas of Doda.

He also demanded for linking receiving Station, Thathri with Bathia to improve electric supply in the area. He demanded more J&K Bank branchs in the area to give fillip to the trade and economic activities in the area. He also urged for opening of the sub-office of Chenab Valley Power Corporation in Kishtwar, adding that its utility will be significant since 6 major Power Projects are coming up in Chenab Valley under the aegis of the Corporation.

The District Development Commissioner, Doda, Mr. Farooq Ahmed, Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Mr. Ravi Magotra, Joint Director, Accounts and Treasuries, Mr. Mohammad Aslam and concerned officers were also present on the occasion.

Legislators of Chenab Valley demand ex-gratia relief for road accident victims

JAMMU, DECEMBER 22:- Chenab Valley Legislators have expressed their concern for delay in sanctioning ex-gratia relief to the next of kins of those who lost their lives in different road accidents that took place on Baderwah-Doda highway. They demanded early disbursement of suitable ex-gratia relief for the victims.

The members included Mr. G. M Saroori, Mohammad Sahrief Niaz, Mr. Abdul Majid Wani, Mr. Ashok Kumar, Mr. Vikar Rasool Wani and Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta.

Riyaz Ghati (All Senior Congress Leader) has expressed grief over the loss of lives in a road accident on Jai Road in Bhaderwah.

In their condolence message, Leaders expressed sympathy with the bereaved family in which eight persons, including a minor died when a vehicle they were traveling in, skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge on Bhaderwah-Jai road, on Sunday evening. They prayed to the Almighty Allah for blessing peace to the departed soul and also prayed the Almighty to give courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss and prayed for early recovery of the injured.

Saroori & others demanded ex-gratia for the injured people and also demanded that all the medical facilities should be extended to the injured.

41 water supply schemes under execution in Inderwal, Taj stresses on covering hilly, far flung areas on priority.


JAMMU, DECEMBER 16: - 41 water supply schemes are under execution in Inderwal constituency of Kishtwar district at present even as 21 schemes have already been completed. The estimated cost for these schemes comes out to be Rs. 63.64 crore. This was disclosed today in a meeting to review the pace of completion of water supply schemes in Chenab Valley region. Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din presided over. Former Minister and MLA Inderwal, Mr. G. M. Saroori and MLC, Mr. Naresh were also present in the meeting.

The meeting was told that additionally 17 schemes are under execution in the area under NABARD and LIC costing around Rs. 4 crore.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister asked concerned engineers to explore possibility of providing drinking water to areas like Durbeel, Kuchal, Pura Chandali, Indlukhara, Tanta etc. He also directed exploration of filtration plant facility at Thathri and Chatroo area. He also directed processing of the DPRs of flood protection works in the area for submission for TAC clearance.

Mr. Taj impressed upon the officers and engineers to pace up works in far flung and difficult areas so that people there are covered under these schemes. He asked the engineers to avoid cost overrun of schemes by sticking to project timelines. The Minister also directed covering areas like Halaran, Gogada, Gobar, Panshera, Jora Kalan, Sicher under drinking water supply adding these works should be completed at the earliest.

Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu, Mr. Ashwani Sharma, other senior engineers and officers were present in these meetings.

New Delhi, December 12: - Legislators and Senior Pradesh Congress Leaders from Jammu and Kashmir state headed by Former Minister and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori called on Hon’ble Union Minister for Home Sushil Kumar Shinde and apprised him about various problems confronting general public and in habitants of hilly and remote area of Erstwhile District Doda. Among others who called upon the Minister from J&K state included MLC Naresh Gupta, MLC Mohammad Amin Bhat, Senior Congress Leader from Batote Mohammad Iqbal Mir, Youth Congress leader from Srinagar Imtiyaz Malik and others.

Delegation demanded that a special recruitment drive for the unemployed youth for the State in Central Government services may please be undertaken, as the State has limited resources.

They also seek Ministers personal intervention for creating extra 4000 Special Police Officer (SPO) posts for Erstwhile District District Doda as these districts are having only 10% road connectivity and are the far flung areas of the J&K state. Further they demanded the wages of SPO’s may be increased from Rs 3000 to 10,000 in view of present market fluctuation.

Mr Saroori and other member of delegations also demanded to expedite sanction of all the pending projects submitted to Union government under militancy affected area scheme. They also demanded special financial package for Jammu And Kashmir State on the pattern of North-East.

“Incentives should be unique to the Jammu and Kashmir; a proactive policy should be put in place for recruitment of unemployed youths of the state in central government services, autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings and central paramilitary forces”, they said.

Hon’ble Union Minister gave them patient hearing and demands put forth before him by delegation and assured that the central government will consider them on top priority. The Hon’ble minister said further said that Central as well as state government is committed to provide solace to the deprived people and will work for the peaceful atmosphere of the state, must for the development of the State and the Country. Congress party held meeting.

Azad was regularly in touch with Part workers to ensure victory of Coalition Candidates.

Leaders congratulate Saroori, from his Assembly constituency coalition candidates got highest percentage votes.

Jammu, 7 December: - A meeting of Congress party was held at Senior Congress Leader J&K G M Saroori residence with grass root level representatives which include Ex Chairman LC Arvind Singh Micky, MLA Inderwal G M Saroori, MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, MLA Chenani Krishan Chand, MLC Mohammad Amin Butt, MLC Naresh Kumar, MLC Subash Gupta, Secretary Auqaf Islamia Kishtwar Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Sarpanches including Piyaray Lal Sharma, Mohammad Shafi Saroori, Surjeet Singh Charak & other. 

Saroori said it is the effort which the ruling coalition had been vigorously campaigning among the panches and sarpanches. He said, like in this Legislative Council election the party workers had worked hard due to their effort Congress-National Conference bagged all the four seats of Legislative Council under Panchayat quota.
He said leaders and workers had to work hard and remains closely associated with each other and with the common people in every area and at all levels. Workers had to show the same spirit and determination in the BDC election and Urban Local bodies’ election which will be conducted soon. 

"It was victory of the coalition-Polling for the four reserved seats of the legislative council was held on Monday – after a gap of nearly 38 years. 

Saroori also referred the efforts made by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Chief Minister J&K Omar Abdullah for ensuring the victory. He said due to Parliament session Azad sb was not able to campaign but he was regularly in touch with the Party workers for ensuring the victory of Coalition candidates. We are happy that we have won --it is big victory to coalition. He also hail the statement given by G N Azad for implementing 73rd Amendment which was given by late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and will give a remarkable model of ‘grassroot democracy had ’ to the country, that stands testimony for its commitment to Panchayati Raj institutions.

He lauded Panchayat members for reposing faith in the candidates of the ruling coalition in the state. "We hail and thank panchs and sarpanchs for reposing faith in coalition candidates by electing them with convincing margins. The ruling coalition victory in Legislative Council polls under Panchayat quota is a result of people friendly policies of the state government in the last three years.

Reiterating that the coalition government was committed to establish a vibrant three-tier Panchayati Raj system in the state, Saroori assured maximum empowerment of panchayat members. Congress leaders also congratulate MLA Inderwal G M Saroori from his Inderwal constituency Coalition candidates including Dr Shahnaz Ganaie (NC) and Sham Lal Bhagat(Congress) got highest percentage votes from Jammu region.

Ali Mohammad Dar (National Conference) was declared elected from K-1 constituency. Ghulam Nabi Monga (Congress) was declared elected from K-2 constituency.

Sham Lal Bhagat (Congress) was declared elected from J-1 constituency. Dr Shahnaz Ganai (National Conference) was declared elected from J-2 constituency.

As many as 33,450 panchayat members decided the fate of 37 candidates in fray.

Many entrants join Congress party in Chenab Valley.


Kishtwar, 5 December: - Dedicated workers of different parties including Mushtaq Keen, Mohd Sharief, Abdul Wahid, Gulzar Ahmed, Nissar Ahmed, Mehraj Ud Din, Abdul Azeez, Ghulam Mohammad, Nadeem Hussain, Salam Din, Mukhtiyaar Ahmed, Ishtyaq Hussain, Gulzar Ahmed, Zahoora Begum Malik and others who joined Congress party in presence of Senior Congress Leader from Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Mohammad Saroori at his residence Kishtwar.

Welcoming the new entrants into the Congress party fold, Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori assured them to come up to their expectations and continue the developmental works and the welfare of the poor or down trodden people initiated by the Former Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir and Union Health Minister and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad.

''I am sure that with the coming of Mushaq Keen and others, Congress will be strengthened and motivated with his ideologies,'' Saroori said.

He said that the doors of the party are always open for all those who believe in the programme and polices of the Indian National Congress and have faith in its leadership. He thanked Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for taking an initiative in the developmental works in all sectors in Jammu & Kashmir especially Inderwal Constituency.

The new incumbents attributed the reasons of their joining the Congress that the Congress party had always been very kind to people of Jammu and Kashmir. ''There are various reasons for us to join the Congress and we feel that only Congress alone can win by majority and form the next government in J&K,'' new incumbents said. They warned that the situation in the state is at a very critical juncture and only nationalist party can rescue Jammu and Kashmir from the ongoing turmoil.

They assured all support to the Congress and said they would work for the betterment of the party with dedication. They said they were impressed with the performance and working of MLA Inderwal G M Saroori and also Senior Congress Leader from Drabshallah Mohammad Iqbal keen which is also one of the reasons for joining the Congress party. They said due to working of hard working of Mr Saroori, the recent held MLC election about 95% votes of Sarpanches and Panches had cast their votes in favor coalition candidates.

Fransher Nali wins by 10 wickets.


Saroori praised the role of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) for showing great interest in organizing Cricket tournament.

Bunjwah, 2 December: - A T-20 cricket tournament organized by Indian Youth Congress Inderwal at Nali Bunjwah District Kishtwar ended here on 2-12-2012 with the final match played between Fransher Nali cricket club and Rising Star Bhalesha cricket club. The watch was won by Fransher Nali cricket club. Rising star won the toss and chosen to Bat, Rising Star cricket club were bowled out for 74 runs in the allotted 20 over’s whereas Fransher Nali cricket Club chase the target with 7 over to spare and no wicket fall. The tourney was played on knockout basis and about 32 teams of the area participated in the tourney. Mohammad Asgar Hussain of Fransher Nali Cricket Club was declared as Man of the match and Imtiyaz Batak was declared Man of the Series of the final event.

Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori was chief guest on the occasion and distributed prizes among the participants. The winner up team was awarded Rs 10,000 and Runner up team with Rs 8,000 and trophies.

On the occasion, Saroori exhorted upon youth to remain focused on constructive activities and desists from social evils, drug addiction and anti-national activities. He also highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship. He encouraged the youth to participate in the sports activities, to keep their body mentally and physically fit. Saroori praised the role of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) for showing great interest in organizing Cricket tournament. He said that by organizing such tournaments, the talented youths of this hilly district will get an opportunity to show his talent at highest level. He also announces Rs 11,000 to the final two teams and also announces the cricket stadium for the area.

IYC President Inderwal Mohammad Latief Mughal, IYC President Bunjwah Yog Raj, Mohd Iqbal Keen, Khalid Hussain Sheikh, Farooq Ahmed Want, Choudhary Mohd Shafi, Haroon Ayoob, Irshad Ahmed and general public of the area were present on the occasion.

People of the area appreciated the role of IYC in organizing such people friendly endeavors especially youth oriented activities in rural areas.

Bhalesha, 1 December: - In order to mobilize the support of Sarpanches, Panches and general masses in favour of Coalition Government for forthcoming elections for MLCs, a meeting under the leadership of Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori appealed the Sarpanches and Panches to vote for the coalition candidates Sham Lal Bhagat (Congress Candidate) and Dr Sehnaz Ganai (National Conference Candidate).

While addressing the Sarpanches and Panches at Khara, Bhalesha area of Doda District home town of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Saroori asked them to ensure the victory of coalition candidates and not be hoodwinked by the divisive politics of People Democratic Party (PDP). He appealed to the Panchayat Members to vote for the coalition candidates to ensure that the strength of Panchayats grows manifold. He informed them of the decision taken by the Congress Party high command to cast their votes in favour of the coalition government candidates in forthcoming Legislative Council elections. He said MLC election has provided a golden opportunity to the workers of the two parties to develop strong bonds of coalition at grass root.
