Saroori addresses students and faculty of Degree College Kishtwar.



Later Saroori along with Asgar Peer visited Kishtwar campus and interacted with Students as well faculty members.

Kishtwar, December 27: - Former Minister and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori today visited Government Degree College Kishtwar and address the Staff members as well as Students of the Degree College.

Mr Saroori heard the problems of students, which they were facing in the college during the academic session. While responding to the students demands he revealed that the Degree College Kishtwar is unique college which we have been given after sacrifice of four youths in 1974. He also said District status to Kishtwar has been given by Ghulam Nabi Azad Hon’ble Union Health Minister, for District the Kishtwari people had also given sacrifice but after a long gap of 15 years, it was Mr Azad who gave a District status to Kishtwar. He assured the students that their demands will be highlighted and will be brought into the notice of higher authorities and redressed at an earliest.

Mr Saroori also announced that auditorium will be built at Kishtwar to which funds have already been sanctioned by G N Azad Union from his MPLAD funds and the revenue authorities are identifying the suitable land for the said.

He also said that Annual day of the college was to be celebrated and chaired by the Hon’ble Higher Education Minister, but due to the bad weather the said programme has been postponed for next 4-5 days.

MLC Syed Asgar Peer, College Principle Dr Shafkat Anayat, Civil Societies members including Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Thakur Jugal Bhandari, Mahinder Singh Parihar, Sheikh Nasir Hussain, Tilak Raj Sen, Somnath Sharma, Ashok Sen, Shakir Siddique, G M Rahi, NSUI, NSS, NCC, Faculties and Student were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori along with MLC Kishtwar Syed Asgar Ali today visited Kishtwar Campus and interacted with the students and faculty members of the campus. Director of the Kishtwar Campus Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik presented a brief resume of the campus. He informs presently campus is running four courses viz. M.Sc-IT, M.Sc-Geology (Hydrology and Soil Dynamics), M.A Kashmiri and PGDCA having more than 100 students. The construction work of the academic block, Boys & Girls Hostel is going to start very soon. The Director further inform that 101 Kanal land has been identified and notified by the revenue department for the campus, but due to the non-payment of compensation the university had not still acquire the land. Prof Shohab further said that Govt. had not released Grant-in-Aid to the Kishtwar Campus and other campuses of Jammu University for this financial year because of which Campus is facing great financial crunch. He demanded that Grant-in-Aid be increased from 30 Lakh to 70 Lakhs per annum so that Campus could run effectively. He also presented a brief resume of literary and cultural activities which has been organized by the Kishtwar Campus during the last 6 months.

Saroori while speaking on the occasion said that regarding the education in Kishtwar Campus all should be above politics he described today's interaction session a successful one as speakers highlighted the aims and objectives of the academics. He said that he would talk to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, M.P.S Isher to start Persian department in the KISHTWAR CAMPUS as Kishtwar is a land of Persian scholars which had produced Persian Scholars like Kamgar Kishtwari, Ulfat Kishtwari, Nishat Kishtwari and others. Saroori said that Kishtwar had a lot of scope for various Power Projects and it needed to be explored. KISHTWAR CAMPUS can explore these projects therefore job oriented courses be introduced in Kishtwar Campus in near future. The former Minister said that he would raise the various problems of Kishtwar Campus with the concerned authority. He also offered his full support to the Kishtwar Campus.

While interacting to the faculty and student of the campus the MLC Kishtwar Peer Asgar Ali in detailed threw light on the role of university. He suggested that one Counseling and Guidance cell be started in Kishtwar Campus where experts on different subject be invited for preparation of the competitive exams. The cell could gain money also for the Centre. The G.M. Saroori and Peer Asgar Ali were also honored on these occasions. The Director Kishtwar Campus presented shawl to both the dignitaries. The proceeding of the program was conducted by Naseer-ul-Haq while vote of thanks was presented by Mubasher Hussain. Later MLA and MLC visited Geology and IT Labs. Those who were present on the occasion including, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Mr Sharik Ahmed, Mr. Ashok Kumar Sen, Mr. Ghulam Mohi-ul-Din Rahi, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Mugal, Mr. Nisar Ahmed Doolwal, Mr. Shahnawaz Hussain, Mr. Naveen Sharma and others.
