G. M Saroori launches LPG scheme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Kahara Bhalessa


Inaugurated a week long training programme under Seed Capital Fund Scheme organized by JK EDI at Thathri

Kahara/Thathri, November 03: - Member of Legislative Assembly from Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori on Thursday launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in Kahara Bhalessa to provide free LPG connections to BPL households.

Tehsildar Kahara, Executive Engineer R&B Gandoh division, Officials from Indian oil, HP gas agency, officers from PHE, CAPD, PMGSY, RDD and local Congress leaders besides this large number of locals participated in the function.

Saroori said that the move will benefit 50 thousands households living below the poverty line in Inderwal constituency and PMUY scheme provides subsidy of Rs 1,600 to the women beneficiaries, comprising security deposit of 14.2 kg cylinder, domestic pressure regulator, domestic gas consumer card and administration charges, among others.

He said in rural areas smoke from fire wood, coal, dung cakes etc adversely affect the health of women. “As per a World Health Organisation Report, smoke inhaled by women is equivalent to 400 cigarettes per hour and said that providing LPG connections to BPL households will ensure universal coverage of cooking gas”, Saroori said and added that this measure will empower women and protect their health by reducing the labour and time spent on cooking.

MLA Inderwal, GM Saroori gave away free LPG connections to 20 women from BPL families. The identification of BPL families is done through 2011 census.

Earlier MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori pitched for focused and coordinated approach to overcome the problem of unemployment in the state.

“There is a need for focused attention with sound institutional arrangements and effective operational strategies for creating employment opportunities and enhancing employability”, the MLA said after inaugurating a week long training programme under Seed Capital Fund Scheme organized by Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) at Thathri area of district Doda.

Underscoring the importance of self employment in J&K economy, Saroori said, “Issues of rampant unemployment and GDP enhancement will find solutions in skill development and self employment both at state and national level”. “Success depends not only on necessity, timely launch and quality of the product but also on post sale services, innovation and the ability to adjust to the changing world, thus making business a continuous process”, Saroori added.

The MLA Inderwal while encouraging the entrepreneurs for future endeavours advised them to foster creativity, innovation and adopt best global practices suitable to Indian scenario to enhance socio-economic and cultural development of the state.


Prominent among those Rakesh Kumar, Irshad Ahmed, Asgar Hussain Abdul Razzak, Mansoor Ahmed and dozens of entrepreneurs were present on the occasion.
