opportunistic forces for dividing the people in the name of religion and region
Kontwara area suffered the most
during BJP government; Three dozen BJP workers joined Congress
KANDANI, NOVEMBER 08: - Jammu and
Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President Ghulam Mohammad
Saroori castigated communal and opportunistic forces for dividing the people in
the name of religion and region.
While addressing a public meeting
here at Kandani area of Kishtwar district, Saroori accused PDP and BJP of
pursuing communal, caste and regional based politics, saying this is
detrimental to the pluralistic ethos of the State. He said Congress is the only
party which reflects the urges and aspirations of the people of the three
regions and their sub regions. ‘Communal amity and harmony has been the
hallmark of Congress”, he said.
Saroori said areas like Kontwara had
suffered the most during BJP government and said the schemes under PMGSY is incomplete
because of contractor-BJP politician nexus. Saroori asked: “Who are the people
who are not letting the construction work on the Kontwara Bridge to start, who
are the people who are not constructing the sanctioned road for Kontwara under
PMGSY, who are the people who don’t want to construct the road on the approved
alignment, People in 2014 election gave thumbing majority to BJP from Kontwara
area where are the promises and assurances made by the so called leaders.
He said that the politics of BJP leaders
has been based on opportunism, deceit, backstabbing and falsehood. He lambasted
BJP for indulging in double speak and working against the interests of the
people. He called upon people of Kontwara to strengthen Congress party in order
to steer the area to new vistas of progress and development.
Saroori said BJP had made number of
hallow promises to the people in Kontwara, like launching a special recruitment
drive, giving away free ration among masses, completion of Kontwara road within
2 years of time, electricity and drinking water facility in every house hold of
Kontwara, and many other things, but nothing has been done on ground. He said
that the BJP government didn’t look into the issues of people of the area. This
government, instead of solving problems of people, is resorting to cosmetic
acts for camera and displaying flashy and expensive cars to make their presence
felt, he said and added the government is completely missing from the ground.
