NHIDCL must funded construction of Singpora-Vailoo tunnel, a pivotal shortest alternate route between twin capitals: Saroori



Chenab valley deserve Rail, Air transport links at par with Jammu, Srinagar



KISHTWAR, FEBRUARY 13: - Laying stress for providing all weather connectivity to Chenab Valley via Railway, Air and Transport links at par with capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar, former R&B Minister and Vice President JKPCC, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori stressing the need for reviving the connectivity along the length and breadth of state especially Chenab Valley.



Mr. Saroori said that National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) is a centre government corporation company who earns crores from local state resources through NHPC must funded the construction of Singpora-Vailoo Tunnel through NHIDCL, which is the alternative road connectivity for Kashmir valley that witness massive road blockade during winter seasons due to vulnerability of existing Jammu-Srinagar Highway which is prone to landslides and snow avalanches.



He has asked the state government to take some steps on war footing with an aim to secure and safeguard the lifeline of state which is connectivity of different areas of the state with twin capitals viz Jammu and Srinagar.



Mr. Saroori while highlighting the economic and social importance of Singpora-Vailoo tunnel has sorted early construction of the tunnel which was announced by the former President of India Pranab Mukherji in his priority sector of government’s developmental agenda at that time so that it could connect twin capitals with a shortest possible alternate route, beside will felicitate annual Amarnath Yatra. "This is pivotal project could also prove a boon in elevating the economic status of Chenab valley" said Mr. Saroori added that the DPR of this prestigious project will be completed in the month of April and another completed DPR prepared by Border Roads Organization (BRO) lying pending since last two years and called for immediate taking concrete step so that work on its construction could be started without any further delay.



In addition to this, Mr. Saroori has demanded that government should take comprehensive steps to connect the Chenab valley with railway link through Gool Junction to Kishtwar. He has further sorted that the present dispensation should come forward in constructing the Airstrip at Kishtwar in collaboration with NHPC limited who is equal partner in grabbing the state power resources while leaving behind trail of destruction behind in the form of depleted water resources as witnessed in Dool-hasti Power project. "Chenab valley which comprises of three districts viz; Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban with souls population of over 11 lacs should be connected with Rail, Air transport at par with Jammu, Srinagar" Mr. Saroori said and added that centre government should ensure the construction of Singpora-Vailoo tunnel.



Saroori also strongly advocated the need of Tourism Development Authority for Inderwal at par with Gulmarg, Pahalgam Development Authority of Kashmir in order to end the years old discrimination with dozens of famous tourist spots of Inderwal assembly segment. He has also demanded that Government should fulfill its promises by approving model hospitals in each district and must consider the Chenab valley development projects on priority. He also said the tourism related projects initiated in the Chenab valley during previous NC-Congress government must be taken up and completed within stipulated time. "Government should frame a comprehensive policy to give due impetus to the world famous tourist and adventurous resorts of Chenab valley which include Sinthantop, Phamber, Chatroo, Mugal Maidan, Chingam, Thakrie, Keshwan, Sarthal, Drabshalla, Saroor, Bunjwah, Thathri, Kahara, Jakyas, Padder, Marwah, Warwan etc" Saroori said.
