Doda, May 14: - Vice President JKPCC Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has urge the Congress cadres of the Doda district to go for a vigorous membership drive of the party in every nook and corner of the district in order to strengthen and expand the secular, progressive and democratic space.

Addressing a function at Town Hall Doda, in connection with the launching of the party’s membership drive in district Doda in order to enroll new members and renew membership of the party workers in the district, Saroori said that Congress party is a vibrant situation in all the three regions of the state and appreciated the steps taken by the Congress high Command for further rejuvenating the party. He told the workers that there is no scope for dissidence or lobbyism in J&K Congress, if anyone will indulge in lobbyism the party will deal strongly against them.

The membership was launched in a function presided by Vice President JKPCC and In-Charge Doda and Kishtwar, Mr. G. M. Saroori and attended by Executive Member J&K Mohammed Sharief Niaz, General Secretaries JKPCC, Abdul Majid Wani and Yogesh Sawhney, Secretary PCC Ashok Kumar-(Ex MLA), President DCC Doda Naresh Kumar Gupta-(MLC), Sham Lal Bhagat-(MLC), Auqaf Administrator Asif Jahan, Sheikh Mujeeb, other senior leaders of the party, Office bearers, Youth Congress, NSUI besides large number of Congressmen from Bhalessa, Thathri, Bhaderwah and Doda areas.

Saroori exhorted the party workers to defeat the nefarious designs of PDP BJP and help people in redressal of their grievances. He said that Congress is an instrument of service to the people and will continue to work for betterment and well being of the people.

While stressing the importance of membership drive, Saroori said that special emphasis now should be on enrolling new members into the party apart from ensuring renewal of membership by the present members of the party. He further added that party machinery would be made extra active in Chenab Valley to make the Party’s reach in all the areas.

Saroori said that the present unholy alliance is exposed before the people and the BJP is exploited the sentiments of the people in Jammu has surrendered for the sake of power and same is the case with PDP. He said that Congress would emerge stronger in the state in near future as it has its strong base in all three regions.

In his address to the party workers, Abdul Majid Wani said that the party is nothing without workers and the members of the party are its workers and we must ensure that the membership is authentic and bona-fide so that Congress moves from strength to strength in the State.

Wani said that Congress is being widely accepted by the people in the state and the people’s faith in the party has been fully revived and added that it is high time to open the doors for induction of new members in the party fold.

Mohammed Sharief Niaz in his address said that membership drive shall be conducted at the grass root level in all the Tehsils, Block and Panchayats. He has also alleged that BJP-PDP Govt has failed on all fronts and uncertainty and disappointment among the people of State is increasing day by day.

Niaz said the only achievement that they have made is politically victimizing Congress leaders and workers. Soon, after taking rein of the State, Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed stated on the floor of Assembly that transfers of employees has become industry and hub of corruption and in future accountability and transparency will prevail in State.

Yogesh Sawhney informed that the membership drive has been since long started in the rest of the country and in J&K it could not be synchronized with the rest of the country on account of elections and now we have to make up for the lost time so that we also achieve targets in tune with the rest of the country.

President District Congress Committee, Naresh Gupta said Congress has launched membership drive in real sense as people are expressing their interest in party. He said aspirants must fill form, paste photographs duly self attested unlike missed call facility provided by BJP.

Others who spokes on the occasion including Sham Lal Bhagat-(MLC), Ashok Kumar-(Ex MLA), Asif Jahan Gattu, Mohd Hanief Shah, Jagdish Raj Bhagat, Shabir Khan, Atavullah Khan, Bashir Ahmed, Urfi Majeed, Nadeem Sharief, Mohd Ashraf Sheikh, Javed Malik, Ranjeet Singh, Mohd Rashid and others, and urge the party cadres to gear up for the cause at the shortest possible time. They said that quality and not the quantity should be the target and those who are committed to the ideology and principles of the party need to be brought in to the party fold. They said that membership should be distributed through the organizational setup so that only genuine persons become the members of the party all levels up to the booth level.

Leaders welcomed the party Vice president, G. M. Saroori at Town Hall Doda and assured the Vice president of full cooperation and expressed confidence that Congress will get more and more strengthened in the days to come.

The Congress party also registered protest against the coalition government at Doda today. They demanded better facilities to the people in terms of health, education and roads, beside compensation to the flood affected and rain effected people of Jammu and Kashmir including to the people of Chenab valley.

A large number of Congress workers and supporters led by Saroori, Wani, Niaz, Ashok, Bhagat assembled at Town Hall Doda from where they started march towards Deputy Commissioner's office and blocked the main road for several hours. Later party leaders also submitted a memorandum to DC highlighting various public related issues.

Kishtwar, May 13: - Congress party on Wednesday kick-started its membership drives in Chenab Valley with an aim to attract new members and to reach and connect every household in the Chenab Valley with the party.

The membership drive was officially kick started here in a function by Vice President J&K PCC and In-Charge Doda and Kishtwar in which all the party’s senior workers, members, office bearers, Block heads, Tehsil Heads and large number of Congressmen were present.

While addressing the grand party membership meeting here at Dak Bunglow Kishtwar, Saroori said that we wanted to start this drive earlier but it got delayed because of the incessant rains in the areas. Our aim is to reach every household in the Chenab Valley and connect them with the party.

"Ours is genuine drive. We don't enrol members on the basis of missed calls," Saroori said and added that ours is the only cadre-based party in the country. We are connected to the people at the grassroot-level.

Saroori also advised the party activists to reach every nook and corner of the district Kishtwar as well to register more and more members into the party fold and for that each and every polling booth has to be covered.

He asked party workers to vigorously launch membership drive in the district and said that genuine party workers would be recognized from the grass root level.

“Axe is likely expected to fall on some party leaders in Kishtwar district who are doing anti-party activities in the area and will be expelled from the basic membership of the party”, Saroori said and adding that to strengthen the Congress at all levels, shortcomings would be identified and grievances of workers would be addressed to galvanize and re-energize the party in order to the play the desired role to win back the faith of the people.

Saroori said that the time was ripe for the Congress to get its cadres active. "By six months we should have a strong network of active party workers ready to take on the ruling BJP and PDP in the Municipality and Panchayat elections".

He also took the opportunity to take a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "People are so tired that they shut off the TV sets as soon he appears on the screen. The BJP government has lost its credibility within a year. All the promises Modi made to capture power have remained unfulfilled."

"It's just a matter of time. The Congress should get itself fighting fit so that at the opportune time, when people throw the BJP out of power, we are ready for the task to govern," said Saroori.

Working district President Kishtwar Haji Mohd Amin, Senior Congress leaders including Mohd Iqbal Keen, Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Mahinder Singh Parihar, Piyaray Lal Shan, Bidya Lal, Noor Hussain, Choudhary Noor Mohd, Shamas Din, Advocate Suman, Mohd Shafi Dar, Firdous Mingnoo, Santosh Kumar, Mansoor Ahmed Mattoo, Choudhary Issaq, Satish Kumar and other Congress leaders from district Kishtwar also spokes on the occasion and stressed on the need for enrolling active workers to rebuild the party. They also exhorted upon the party workers to come forward voluntarily to fulfill the mission of AICC President Sonia Gandhi for the betterment and development of the country.

Earlier, a rousing reception was accorded to Vice president J&K PCC at Kishtwar, where Sarpanchs, Panchs, Congress leaders and workers welcomed the new PCC vice President.

Later Mr. Saroori along with hundreds of Congress workers took out a protest rally from Dak Bunglow to DDC Office Kishtwar against the state government for failing on every front in the state and said that people had understood the "real intentions" of coalition government and would "teach them a lesson".

Saroori lashed out at PDP-BJP coalition for its anti- youth policies and said that the proposed recruitment policy will be against the interests of the educated unemployed youth of the State. He said MGNREGA scheme was introduced for farmers and farm labourers to be able to earn some money during the time of drought. But the government is trying to dilute the scheme and is not paying the rights of labourers.

The protestors led by Saroori later submitted a memorandum of demands to DDC Kishtwar, Mr. Mohammad Javed Khan which includes bad condition of Batote-Kishtwar road, MGNREGA payments, SSA salary, clearance of 6,000 pension cases in the district, payment to contractors, wages to Ret Teachers, SSA teachers, clearance of 8 crores liabilities on account of food grain carriage, ration on the basis of 2011 census, replacement of transformers, opening of inner link roads of Marwah, Warwan, Padder, Nagseni, Chatroo, Mugalmaidan, Bunjwah, Sarthal and Padder areas, sanction 100% plan of MGNREGA, shortage of Doctors and electricity problems.

Kupwara/Sopore, May 19: - In its bid to rejuvenate the party in Kashmir region, Vice President JKPCC G. M. Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) and Vice President JKPCC Haji Abdul Rashid Dar-(MLA Sopore) today kick started membership drive in Sopore and Kupwara area in North Kashmir.

On this occasion Congress Spokesperson Farooq Andrabi, General Secretary Shoaib Nabi Lone, General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi , District President Kupwara Haji Farooq Mir, Jasbir Kour, Raja Ji, Altaf Ahmed Malik, all Party functionaries of District Kupwara, Block President, Prominent Leaders and Workers were present on this occasion.

While addressing the large gathered Congress workers, Saroori called upon the party workers to put in their best efforts to ensure maximum membership from Kashmir region. He asked the Congress activists to instill a sense of cooperation among them while executing the exercise to add new members into the party fold.

He hoped that the workers would leave no stone unturned in ensuring highest numbers of new members from Jammu adding that the drive would further strengthen the party at grass root levels.

Saroori also condemns the attack on house of Congress leader from Cheyrar Sharief constituency, Zahid Jussain Jaan and has alleged that party leaders were not provided adequate security by the PDP-BJP dispensation despite attack on leader. The coalition government is answerable for the reported lack of security arrangements on the leader despite threat from the certain groups.

He also shows great concern over withdrawal of security cover to party leader, added that in case of any eventuality with Congress leaders in future, the coalition government will be responsible for the same. He said that government has failed in providing security cover to Congress leaders in JK and has brought into question the whole security issue.

Terming Congress Party a movement, Haji Rashid Dar in his address said that Congress Party is oldest political party with a history of 125 years in serving the people and the country no political party or front can compete with the Congress Party, as Congress Party has always worked for poor and down trodden people and it is all weather friend of the people. He said Congress party is a vibrant force in every nook and corner of the state and the membership drive which is being kicks off was a step towards further strengthening the party by way of involving young, dynamic and educated people, who are desirous to serve the society.

He hoped that this time too Congress leaders and workers will be able to enroll highest number of members throughout the Jammu and Kashmir state.

Farooq Andrabi, Shoaib Nabi Lone, Surinder Singh Channi, Haji Farooq Mir, Jasbir Kour, Raja Ji, Altaf Ahmed Malik and others also spokes on the occasion and exhorted upon the party workers to reach out to maximum number of people in every nook and corner of Kupwara and Sopore districts in order to get the drive to its optimum level.

The Congress leaders hoped that through the medium of membership drive the Congress party would get a new boost which in turn would help it to attain new heights.

Saroori condoles Naseema Begum’s Death

Srinagar, May 19: - Naseema Begum wife of Ghulam Nabi Ahanger a retired Account officer, passed away few days back at her residence Kanipura Naseem Abad, Nowgam Srinagar.

Vice President JKPCC Ghulam Mohammad Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul beside a place for her in a heaven. He has also expressed his heartfelt condolence and sympathy to the bereaved family.

He described the wife of Ghulam Nabi Ahanger as a noble soul and a nice human being who lived a pious life.

The deceased left with four sin Tasneem Maajid, Special Secretary Power development department J&K, Dr. Javeed, Dr. Shaheen and Dr. Firdous.

She was the sister in law of Executive Engineer R&B Kishtwar Baber Hussain Ahanger, Aunty of Tehsildar Thathri, Mosin Raza, Asgar Hussain Ahanger and sister of Retired Chief Engineer Khursheed Hussain, Dr. Yusuf and Dr. Nissar

Congress has scheduled a series of party conventions in Chenab Valley

 

Srinagar, May 21: - Congress has scheduled a series of party conventions in Chenab Valley, as part of mass contact programme, to have broader interactions with party workers at grass root level.

This was decided in a meeting between President J&K PCC Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Mir and Vice President J&K PCC Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Saroori here at summer capital Srinagar.

Other senior leaders of the party, Legislators, former legislators, Office bearers, Youth Congress, Sarpanchs, Panchs, workers, members shall attend these programmes to bring better coordination in the organizational setup.

"The party has started the process to activating the grass root cadre in order to gear up for a vibrant role of the party to take up the issues of the public in wake of an unholy alliance of BJP & PDP, ignoring the aspirations and issues of people", Saroori said.

As per scheduled, the district conventions will be held at Kishtwar on June 8th, Doda-June 9th and Ramban-June 10th.

Jammu, May 24: - Vice President J&K PCC, Mr. G. M. Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) has condoled the sad demise of Smt. Krishna Raju, wife of late Shri. P. N. Raju Former Minister and Grandmother of President district Congress Committee Ramban.

Saroori expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, conveyed his sympathy. He prayed to the Almighty Allah for blessing peace to the departed soul.

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear irreparable loss.

Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) today visited the resident of those who passed away recently in Kishtwar, Phigsoo and Thathri areas to personally condole the sad demises including Bashir Ahmed Gagroo resident of Kishtwar, Mohammad Sharief Tantaray resident of Khanpura Phigsoo, daughter of Shamas Din Butt resident of Thathri.

Mr. Saroori stayed with the bereaved families and expressed his sympathy and solidarity with them, offered fatiyah, consoled the family members and prayed to the Almighty Allah for eternal peace to the departed souls beside a place for them in heaven.

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear irreparable loss.

Saroori has also condoled the sad demise of Zahida Begum Wife of Javed Ahmed Malik resident of Malik Nar Chatroo, cousin sister of Firdous Ahmed Bhawani.

Saroori also met with various deputations here at Dak Bunglow Thathri and at his resident Kishtwar. The deputationist put forth various demands of the area before the MLA including scarcity of Ration, Water, MGNREGA payment and other day to day problems.

Saroori, while responding to these demands assured that general demands will be looked into for consideration and addressed gradually.
