Congress launches membership drive in district Doda


Party machinery would be made extra active in Chenab Valley: Saroori

High time to open the doors for induction of new members in the party fold: Wani

Membership drive shall be conducted at the grass root level: Niaz

Doda, May 14: - Vice President JKPCC Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has urge the Congress cadres of the Doda district to go for a vigorous membership drive of the party in every nook and corner of the district in order to strengthen and expand the secular, progressive and democratic space.

Addressing a function at Town Hall Doda, in connection with the launching of the party’s membership drive in district Doda in order to enroll new members and renew membership of the party workers in the district, Saroori said that Congress party is a vibrant situation in all the three regions of the state and appreciated the steps taken by the Congress high Command for further rejuvenating the party. He told the workers that there is no scope for dissidence or lobbyism in J&K Congress, if anyone will indulge in lobbyism the party will deal strongly against them.

The membership was launched in a function presided by Vice President JKPCC and In-Charge Doda and Kishtwar, Mr. G. M. Saroori and attended by Executive Member J&K Mohammed Sharief Niaz, General Secretaries JKPCC, Abdul Majid Wani and Yogesh Sawhney, Secretary PCC Ashok Kumar-(Ex MLA), President DCC Doda Naresh Kumar Gupta-(MLC), Sham Lal Bhagat-(MLC), Auqaf Administrator Asif Jahan, Sheikh Mujeeb, other senior leaders of the party, Office bearers, Youth Congress, NSUI besides large number of Congressmen from Bhalessa, Thathri, Bhaderwah and Doda areas.

Saroori exhorted the party workers to defeat the nefarious designs of PDP BJP and help people in redressal of their grievances. He said that Congress is an instrument of service to the people and will continue to work for betterment and well being of the people.

While stressing the importance of membership drive, Saroori said that special emphasis now should be on enrolling new members into the party apart from ensuring renewal of membership by the present members of the party. He further added that party machinery would be made extra active in Chenab Valley to make the Party’s reach in all the areas.

Saroori said that the present unholy alliance is exposed before the people and the BJP is exploited the sentiments of the people in Jammu has surrendered for the sake of power and same is the case with PDP. He said that Congress would emerge stronger in the state in near future as it has its strong base in all three regions.

In his address to the party workers, Abdul Majid Wani said that the party is nothing without workers and the members of the party are its workers and we must ensure that the membership is authentic and bona-fide so that Congress moves from strength to strength in the State.

Wani said that Congress is being widely accepted by the people in the state and the people’s faith in the party has been fully revived and added that it is high time to open the doors for induction of new members in the party fold.

Mohammed Sharief Niaz in his address said that membership drive shall be conducted at the grass root level in all the Tehsils, Block and Panchayats. He has also alleged that BJP-PDP Govt has failed on all fronts and uncertainty and disappointment among the people of State is increasing day by day.

Niaz said the only achievement that they have made is politically victimizing Congress leaders and workers. Soon, after taking rein of the State, Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed stated on the floor of Assembly that transfers of employees has become industry and hub of corruption and in future accountability and transparency will prevail in State.

Yogesh Sawhney informed that the membership drive has been since long started in the rest of the country and in J&K it could not be synchronized with the rest of the country on account of elections and now we have to make up for the lost time so that we also achieve targets in tune with the rest of the country.

President District Congress Committee, Naresh Gupta said Congress has launched membership drive in real sense as people are expressing their interest in party. He said aspirants must fill form, paste photographs duly self attested unlike missed call facility provided by BJP.

Others who spokes on the occasion including Sham Lal Bhagat-(MLC), Ashok Kumar-(Ex MLA), Asif Jahan Gattu, Mohd Hanief Shah, Jagdish Raj Bhagat, Shabir Khan, Atavullah Khan, Bashir Ahmed, Urfi Majeed, Nadeem Sharief, Mohd Ashraf Sheikh, Javed Malik, Ranjeet Singh, Mohd Rashid and others, and urge the party cadres to gear up for the cause at the shortest possible time. They said that quality and not the quantity should be the target and those who are committed to the ideology and principles of the party need to be brought in to the party fold. They said that membership should be distributed through the organizational setup so that only genuine persons become the members of the party all levels up to the booth level.

Leaders welcomed the party Vice president, G. M. Saroori at Town Hall Doda and assured the Vice president of full cooperation and expressed confidence that Congress will get more and more strengthened in the days to come.

The Congress party also registered protest against the coalition government at Doda today. They demanded better facilities to the people in terms of health, education and roads, beside compensation to the flood affected and rain effected people of Jammu and Kashmir including to the people of Chenab valley.

A large number of Congress workers and supporters led by Saroori, Wani, Niaz, Ashok, Bhagat assembled at Town Hall Doda from where they started march towards Deputy Commissioner's office and blocked the main road for several hours. Later party leaders also submitted a memorandum to DC highlighting various public related issues.
