Kishtwar, 08 May: Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu today organized
one day seminar on the topic entitled “Present Position of Kashmiri
Language in Chenab Valley”. Vice President J&K PCC, & MLA
Inderwal Mr. G.M. Saroori was Chief
Guest on the occasion while Dr. Aftab Ahmed Khan, Principal Govt. Degree
College, Kishtwar presided over the function.
Among faculty
members Mr. Ali Mohd. Dar, Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar & student Mr.
Tanveer Ahmed Malik were the resource persons of the seminar who spoke
about the present scenario of the Kashmiri language in the Chenab
valley. They informed that many good literatures have been produced by
the writers of Chenab from time to time. They also demanded that it is
the need of the hour to introduce Kashmiri subject at school and college
levels. They further said that Kashmir has a rich culture and
literature background especially in the Chenab Valley & it is the
duty of the young generation to promote Kashmiri language in the valley
of Chenab.
MLA Inderwal G.M. Saroori in his speech too
congratulated Kishtwar Campus for organizing one day seminar. While in
his address he said that financial issues of Kishtwar Campus would be
taken with Chief Minister as well as the Govt. of India. Mr. Saroori
said that Janbaz Kishtwari was not only a reputed singer but also a
great Kashmiri poet. He also quoted some of his Kashmiri poetry. He said
that presently many writers are working for the development of the
Kashmiri language that includes: Rehmat Ali Rehmat, Gulab Saifi,
Manshoor Banhali, Margoob Banhali, Bashir Bhaderwahi & others.
Mr. Saroori further said that he would discuss various problem of
Kashmiri language with the Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir and will stress
to introduce Kashmiri language in schools and colleges of Chenab Valley.
He appealed the young generation to speak their mother tongue in their
day to day affairs so that the language could flourish. He offered his
full support to the Kishtwar Campus for organizing literary events.
In his welcome address Director Kishtwar Campus, Prof. Shohab Inayat
Malik, in detail threw light on the origin and development of Kashmiri
language in the Chenab Valley and expressed that the history of Kashmiri
language is incomplete without acknowledging those towering writers
such as Rasa Javadani, Kamgar Kishtwari, Nishat Kishtwari, Janbaz
Kishtwari & Others who have rendered selfless services to the
Kashmiri language. It was Rasa Javadani who provided Kashmiri language
Gazals keeping in view the form of gazals.
He thanked the
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Jammu University Prof. R.D Sharma for paying
his individual attention towards Kishtwar campus. Prof. Shohab Informed
that very soon M.Ed Course will be started in Kishtwar Campus which
could benefit thousands of students of Chenab Valley as Hon’ble Vice
Chancellor, Jammu University has assured to introduce the said course in
Kishtwar Campus.
In his address Dr. Aftab Ahmed Khan,
Principal Degree College Kishtwar informed that most of the people
living in various parts of Chenab Valley are migrated from Kashmir
Valley having similar culture as exists in Kashmir Valley. Therefore it
is the duty of the young generation to preserve their cultural identity.
We should produce such a strong talent which could change the corrupt
administration setup he said. He congratulated Kishtwar Campus for
organizing a successful one day seminar on a vital topic.

Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar. Conducted the processing of the programs while vote
of thanks was presented by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Director Kishtwar
Campus.

Kahara, 10 May: - Reaching out to the people of far flung areas of
Tehsil Kahara in district Doda, Vice president J&K PCC and MLA
Inderwal, G. M. Saroori today held a public grievance redressal meeting
at Tehsil headquarter Kahara.
Saroori today reiterated that Congress party is commitment towards
J&K state all round prosperity and development, adding that people
are best judges to see the performance of Congress led government and
other parties in this regard.
The MLA Inderwal who concluded
two day tour of various areas of Tehsil Kahara including Kahara,
Malanoo, Bitola, Kencha, Baghdeyr, Nagni, Gugara, Thrankhal, Goila,
Bathri and other adjoining areas.
Saroori was accompanied by
Tehsildar Kahara Ghulam Nabi Malik, BDO Kahara Pritam Singh, TSO Kahara
Liyakat Ali Zarger, ZEO Bhatyas Reyaz Ahmed, SI Kahara Vijay Kumar,
officers of R&B, PMGSY, PDD, Irrigation, PHE and all other Tehsil
officers were present in the meeting.
The people apprised the
MLA about various problems being faced by them. They raised the issues
of the un-schedule electricity cut, shortage of teaching staff in
schools, irregular distribution of ration in the CAPD outlets, bad
condition of irrigation canals, staff for ISM centres, non-payment of
MGNREGA wages and unavailability of mid day meal ration in schools.
People also highlighted the poor condition of electricity and various
water supply schemes in the area and demanded to ensure regular supply
of clean drinking water to all villages and no un-schedule electric cut
in the area.
Saroori after listening to the problems of people,
sought reports from the concerning officers while most of the issues
were settled on the spot. He also announced that this year R&B
department will black top on Kahara-Kencha road, Bhatyas-Jakyas road,
Thathri-Bathri road, Thathri-Phigsoo road and inner circular roads of
Sub-Division Thathri.
He said number of welfare and
developmental schemes have already been completed and various schemes
and projects in this regard are being implemented to further improve the
socio-economic profile of people of the area.
Saroori enjoined
upon the officers to render their duties with honesty, zeal and
enthusiasm besides redress the genuine issues of the public on priority.
He urged them to expedite all ongoing works within stipulated time so
that people do not suffer for want of basic amenities and stressed for
close coordination in this regard and directed the officials to visit
the villages and ensure on the spot redressal of the public issues
highlighted by the deputations.
He said that Tehsil Kahara,
Bhatyas, Jakyas areas are heading towards new era of development and all
possible steps are being made to improve the living standard of the
people of this far flung area. “He added that he is committed to
decrease the people sufferings by extending every possible facility”.
Saroori urged upon the people to constitute village level committees so
that the decision for overall development of the villages can be taken
in open public and common man get opportunity to contribute in the
Development of the area.
He has also released rupees eight
lakhs under his Constituency Development funds (CDF) for development
purpose indulging Rs 5 lakhs for steel poles and two new transformers
for the villages Kushay Thawa and Kanoo, Rs 2 lakhs for ouni blanket
Shed at Moharwari Sarthal and Rs one lakh for construction of Tanki at
Mangthalla area.
A large number of people from Tehsil Kahara
including Panches and Sarpanches of the adjoining Panchayats, Congress
leader, and Youth Congress leaders including Chowdhary Abdul Rashid
Kandar, Ghulam Haider Wani, Mohd Latief Mughal, Hafiz Farooq, Noor Maey,
Haji Ghulam Mohd Mir, Haji Abdul Latief, Mohd Ramzan, Haji Ghulam
Hussain Parray, Bashir Ahmed Sirwal, Chowdhary Hasham, Gul Mohammad,
Mahan Chand, Safdar Wani, Parvez Ganie, Sher Mohd, Waseem Ahmed, Asif

Later Saroori also held a meeting of Congress leader's, members and
workers and informed that Congress membership drive is being held on the
13th of May at Kishtwar,14th of May at Doda and 15th of May at Ramban.

Kishtwar, May 10: - Vice President J&K PCC, G. M. Saroori today
visited District Hospital Kishtwar and enquired about the health of
Sajad Hussain son of Mohammad Ramzan resident of Hasti Kishtwar who was
injured in the Scorpio accident and patients from kishtwar and Inderwal
segments.
He was accompanied by Medical Supt. Kishtwar Dr. Parvez and other Doctors of the Hospital.
Saroori interacted with the patient attended and assured them all help.
He asked the doctors about the status of injured patient and ask the
Doctors to extend best possible Medicare to the patients. He also wished
for early recovery of the patients.
He also visited the
residence of Gulla Ganie and Javeid Ahmed Ganei to personally condole
the demise of their sons namely Sajjad Hussain (24 years) and Muzaffer
Hussain (25 years) both resident of Melan Kishtwar who passed away
yesterday when the Scorpio falls into deep gorge on NHPC road Kishtwar.
Saroori stayed with the bereaved families and expressed his sympathy
and solidarity with them, offered fatiyah, consoled the family members
and prayed to the Almighty Allah for eternal peace to the departed souls
beside a place for them in heaven. He also prayed to Almighty Allah to
give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear irreparable
loss.

Tatani/Saroor, May 11: - Vice President J&K PCC Mr. G. M. Saroori
today conducted an extensive tour of Saroor area in district Kishtwar.
The state government today came under fire over the poor power and
water supply situation in Chenab Valley region with Saroori saying that
no steps had been taken to mitigate the plight of the people in the
scorching summer.
"In the scorching heat, when the temperature
is hovering people are struggling to get power and drinking water."There
is power and water supply failure in Chenab Valley region," Saroori
told a gathering at Saroor area of Kishtwar district.
The
problem of huge transmission losses should be dealt with immediately and
the state government should also impress upon the central government
the need for a better power sharing agreement with the state, Saroori
added.
Talking about the water crisis, Saroori said that the
state government should put in place a comprehensive plan to deal with
the problem. He said that Chenab Valley faces a daily water shortage of
over 3 million gallons, which further goes up as the mercury rises in
summer beside government must chalk out a comprehensive plan to plug the
loopholes within the existing power sector by introducing reforms and a
work culture.
“The problem of huge transmission losses should
be addressed immediately besides the state government must impress upon
the central government for a better power sharing deal. The state
government must replace rotten poles with steel poles. As rotten wooden
poles and trees are used in place of cement poles causing risk of life
and cattle in whole of Erstwhile district Doda”, Saroori said.
He inspected the Bathri and Saroor areas which have been affected by
recent ceaseless rains, causing landslides and flash floods. He also had
an elaborate interaction with the people at Lass, Dhar, Khori, Neju
Kukarwas, Londhari, Tatani Saroor, Kalchanda, Barhoti, Bugrana and
Bahdad areas of Tehsil Drabshalla in district Kishtwar.
Referring to the announcement of Special Central Package, Saroori said
that Central government failed in announcing any such special package
for the sufferers of J&K and it is the practice of Central
Government to announce such special packages for reconstruction and
rehabilitation.
Saroori further said that people must
understand the nefarious design of certain ‘disgruntled forces’, who are
trying to disturb the peaceful environs in the State. He asked people
to thwart every such act with full might for ensuring sustained
development of the area. He cautioned the people against the anti-social
elements who are trying to disturb the peace and harmony in the region.
He said peace is vital for the implementation of welfare schemes and
developmental activities.
During his two days visit to Saroor
area, Saroori also met with several deputations. Interacting with
general public and local Congressmen from and added that he will leave
no stone unturned in mitigating their grievances.
Responding to
the demands projected by the locals including Black topping on link
roads, Old age pension to the eligible people and timely payment of
pension, augmentation of water supply schemes, clearance of pending
panels in Education Department, issuance of Ration cards for the divided
families, up-gradation of schools, roads, health care facilities and
improvement in power scenario, Saroori issued on-the-spot directions to
concerned officials to mitigate the problems being faced by them and
assured that their genuine problems will be solved in a time phase
manner.
Meanwhile Saroori had release Rupees 30 lakhs for his
constituency developmental funds (CDF) for those whose houses have been
damaged in Inderwal constituency and four lakhs for the construction of
Play ground in Kencha village. Earlier Saroori has also attended an
annual Islamic function in Tatani Saroor area.

GVK and LNT failed to resume the work on the project; threatened to
intensify the protest after one month if liability will not be cleared
and if management won’t resume the work: Saroori
Drabshalla,
May 12: - Congress Vice President J&K and MLA Inderwal, G. M.
Saroori along with thousands of people from Tehsil Drabshalla, Bunjwah
and Sub-Division Thathri at Drabshallah
about 25 km from Kishtwar, today blocked the traffic on Batote-Kishtwar
National Highway for about four hours to protest against the GVK Power
Projects Pvt. Ltd. and LNT ECC Company who are constructing 850 MW
Rattle Hydro Electric Power Project on river Chenab in Drabshalla.
Speaking on the occasion, Saroori said Rattle power project is the
first mega hydropower project being constructed in the state on Built,
Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis but the companies failed to start
the work on this prestigious project and also failed to give adequate
land compensation to the inhabitants of the villages Drabshalla,
Kandani, Seeghad in Drabshalla set to dislocated due to project.
He asked GVK Management to resume the work on the project within a
month time or to leave the project and give other companies a chance
that are financially good to construct this project as almost more than 5
thousands crores will be the expenditure to construct this project.
“There are thousands of unemployed youths in Drabshalla, Saroor,
Bunjwah, Thathri, Kahara, Kishtwar and other adjoining areas who are
having vast experience in handling various kinds of machineries being
used in hydroelectric projects and also from projects like 390
Dool-Hasti Power Project and 450 MW Baghliar Power Project”, Saroori
said and added that after resuming the work on the project unemployed
youth could get the opportunity of employment in the said project.
Taking strong note over the mismanagement of GVK and L&T Companies,
Saroori said that these two companies has made the Project in worst
condition as presently the liability pending on account of various
components including work done by Contractors, Labour wages,
compensation on account of land and Rehabilitation and Resettlement Plan
is still pending.
Saroori also assured the people of the area
that as being the representative of the area he will never let
outsiders to be part of this prestigious project and priority in jobs
should be given to the local skilled, Semi-skilled and Unskilled workers
and thereafter if management did not find trained youths from the
District, only then the company should hire its manpower from outside
District or State.
He said that due to non-resuming of the
work on Rattle project, that state is losing nearly 1500 Cr annually as
this project will help the state in reducing the power deficit crises,
beside will also help the state in saving nearly 1500 Cr power tariff
bills annually.
Other speakers including Chowdhary Salam Din,
Suraj Prakash, Gulzar Ahmed Mattoo, Akhtar Khurwaey, Mohd Iqbal Keen,
Santosh Kumar, Tanveer Ahmed Mattoo, Swami Raj Bhagat, Mohd Shafi, Mohd
Sultan Malik, Tanveer Ahmed Lone, Asgar Hussain, Mohd Rafique, Mohd
Yasin Mattoo, Hens Raj, Shahid Rashid Mattoo, Ram Nath, Masood Ahmed
Mattoo, Baby Chand, Ghulam Haider Najar, Zubair Ahmed Najar and other
office bearers of Mazdoor Union raised various issues during the
protest, which included resuming the work on the project, re-assessment
of the public property that will be affected by Rattle Power Project in
Kandni, Drabshalla and other adjacent areas, Catchment area development,
Resettlement and Rehabilitation of affected families on priority basis,
employment to the local unemployed youth in the project on priority,
plantation of trees to balance ecology as the tree density is not very
high in the area, conservation of aquatic life in river Chenab,
management of emissions from various activities and machines for
controlling pollution in the region, assessment of impact on various
natural resources besides various other issues were raised on the
occasion.
Later Additional District Developmental Commissioner
Kishtwar, Mr. Avtar Singh Chib reached the spot with Additional SP
Kishtwar Mr. Abdul Qayoom and assured that district Administration will
take up the matter with GVK Managements for resuming the work and
clearing all the balance liabilities of Sub-Contractor, labour wages of
the laborers and also assured that won’t let LNT Company to take
machinery from Drabshalla area till the management will clear all the
pending liabilities.
After getting assurance from the
authorities, the angry protestors relented and ended the blockade but
Mr. Saroori threatened to intensify after one month if liability will
not be cleared and if management won’t resume the work.
Notable, as per the agreement, GVK will hand over the project to the
state government after the period of 35 years from the date of
commissioned settle for 2017.
Quality and not quantity matters, Congress on BJP membership drive: Saroori
Ramban, May 15: - The Congress membership was launched in district
Ramban in a function presided by Vice President JKPCC, Mr. G. M. Saroori
and attended by General Secretary JKPCC Yogesh Sawhney, MLA Banihal
Vikar Rasool Wani, MLC Sham Lal Bhagat, Secretary PCC Ashok Kumar-(Ex
MLA), Secretary PCC Imtiyaz Ahmed Khanday, President DCC Ramban Arun
Singh Raju, Working DCC President Farooq Ahmed Katoch other senior
leaders of the party, Office bearers, Youth Congress, NSUI besides large
number of Congressmen attended the membership drive.
Mocking
at BJP leaders for rushing to bus stations and railway stations to
enroll new members, Congress Vice President said while addressing a
party function here at Ramban and said quality and not quantity matters
while signing on new members for the party.
Saroori observed
that his party's membership drive always focused on booth-level
registrations instead of the way in which BJP leaders in the state set
about adding new members. "For us (Congress leaders) quality matters,
unlike their (BJP leaders) focus on quantity," he added.
According to him, for any political organization, numbers at each
polling booth matters, not those at bus-stations or railway stations
though at such places one could reach out to many people at once. "We
need to have our people in booths across the state instead of searching
them in such places where BJP leaders carried out their membership
campaign," Saroori added.
Saroori also asked state government
not to shift the proposed National Institute of Medicinal Plants (NIMP)
from Bhaderwah in district Doda. He said that G. N. Azad had sanctioned
NIMP for Chenab Valley and it should be set up in Bhaderwah itself as
the area is rich in herbal wealth and more than 40 per cent of forest
wealth of J&K is found in the Chenab valley. In view of its close
proximity to rich wealth of medicinal and herbal plants and pristine
scenic beauty, Bhaderwah remains an ideal place for the setting up of
NIMP,” Saroori said.
He warned the PDP-BJP that if the
100-crore dream project of Ghulam Nabi Azad will be shifted all the
Congress leaders along with lakhs of people will come on street and will
start agitate.
While addressing Yogesh Sawhney, Vikar Rasool,
Sham Lal Bhagat and Ashok Kumar lambast at coalition government for
failing on every front in the state and said Chief Minister J&K
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed may be considered as a shrewd politician of the
state, but his statement is unwanted and has hurt the people.
They said that special emphasis now should be on enrolling new members
into the party apart from ensuring renewal of membership by the present
members of the party and have expressed gratitude to the party cadres
who have been strengthening the philosophy and ideology of the party.
Others who spokes including Imtiyaz Ahmed Khandey, Ilyaz Amed, Budhi
Singh, Bushan Pandit, Sardar Jamash Singh, Farooq Katoch, Arun Singh
Raju, Tariq Saleem, Haji Mohammad Yusuf, Issaq Khandey, Choudhary
Farooq, Amir Salaria and other others leaders said that membership drive
should be conducted at the grass root level in all the Tehsils, Block
and Panchayats. They have also alleged that BJP-PDP Govt has failed on
all fronts and uncertainty and disappointment among the people of State
is increasing day by day.
