“People must understand the nefarious design of certain forces who are trying to disturb the peaceful environs”
Tatani/Saroor, May 11: - Vice President J&K PCC Mr. G. M. Saroori today conducted an extensive tour of Saroor area in district Kishtwar.
The state government today came under fire over the poor power and water supply situation in Chenab Valley region with Saroori saying that no steps had been taken to mitigate the plight of the people in the scorching summer.
"In the scorching heat, when the temperature is hovering people are struggling to get power and drinking water."There is power and water supply failure in Chenab Valley region," Saroori told a gathering at Saroor area of Kishtwar district.
The problem of huge transmission losses should be dealt with immediately and the state government should also impress upon the central government the need for a better power sharing agreement with the state, Saroori added.
Talking about the water crisis, Saroori said that the state government should put in place a comprehensive plan to deal with the problem. He said that Chenab Valley faces a daily water shortage of over 3 million gallons, which further goes up as the mercury rises in summer beside government must chalk out a comprehensive plan to plug the loopholes within the existing power sector by introducing reforms and a work culture.
“The problem of huge transmission losses should be addressed immediately besides the state government must impress upon the central government for a better power sharing deal. The state government must replace rotten poles with steel poles. As rotten wooden poles and trees are used in place of cement poles causing risk of life and cattle in whole of Erstwhile district Doda”, Saroori said.
He inspected the Bathri and Saroor areas which have been affected by recent ceaseless rains, causing landslides and flash floods. He also had an elaborate interaction with the people at Lass, Dhar, Khori, Neju Kukarwas, Londhari, Tatani Saroor, Kalchanda, Barhoti, Bugrana and Bahdad areas of Tehsil Drabshalla in district Kishtwar.
Referring to the announcement of Special Central Package, Saroori said that Central government failed in announcing any such special package for the sufferers of J&K and it is the practice of Central Government to announce such special packages for reconstruction and rehabilitation.
Saroori further said that people must understand the nefarious design of certain ‘disgruntled forces’, who are trying to disturb the peaceful environs in the State. He asked people to thwart every such act with full might for ensuring sustained development of the area. He cautioned the people against the anti-social elements who are trying to disturb the peace and harmony in the region. He said peace is vital for the implementation of welfare schemes and developmental activities.
During his two days visit to Saroor area, Saroori also met with several deputations. Interacting with general public and local Congressmen from and added that he will leave no stone unturned in mitigating their grievances.
Responding to the demands projected by the locals including Black topping on link roads, Old age pension to the eligible people and timely payment of pension, augmentation of water supply schemes, clearance of pending panels in Education Department, issuance of Ration cards for the divided families, up-gradation of schools, roads, health care facilities and improvement in power scenario, Saroori issued on-the-spot directions to concerned officials to mitigate the problems being faced by them and assured that their genuine problems will be solved in a time phase manner.
Meanwhile Saroori had release Rupees 30 lakhs for his constituency developmental funds (CDF) for those whose houses have been damaged in Inderwal constituency and four lakhs for the construction of Play ground in Kencha village. Earlier Saroori has also attended an annual Islamic function in Tatani Saroor area.
Prominent among those Akhtar Hussain Tatani, Om Prakash Shan, Bashir Ahmed, Mohd Shafi, Mohd Iqbal, Mohd Sultan Malik, Ved Prakash, Gori Lal, Ramesh Kumar, Ch Ismaeil, Jamal Din, Bansi Lal, Ch Qasam, Javed Ahmed, Mohd Issaq, Mohd Abdullah, Hari Ram, Firdous Ahmed, Moh Sharief, Babu Ram, Parvati Devi, Angrez Singh, Zabeyl Singh and people in large were also present on the occasion.
