Kishtwar, 08 May: Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu today organized one day seminar on the topic entitled “Present Position of Kashmiri Language in Chenab Valley”. Vice President J&K PCC, & MLA Inderwal Mr. G.M. Saroori was Chief Guest on the occasion while Dr. Aftab Ahmed Khan, Principal Govt. Degree College, Kishtwar presided over the function.
Among faculty members Mr. Ali Mohd. Dar, Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar & student Mr. Tanveer Ahmed Malik were the resource persons of the seminar who spoke about the present scenario of the Kashmiri language in the Chenab valley. They informed that many good literatures have been produced by the writers of Chenab from time to time. They also demanded that it is the need of the hour to introduce Kashmiri subject at school and college levels. They further said that Kashmir has a rich culture and literature background especially in the Chenab Valley & it is the duty of the young generation to promote Kashmiri language in the valley of Chenab.
MLA Inderwal G.M. Saroori in his speech too congratulated Kishtwar Campus for organizing one day seminar. While in his address he said that financial issues of Kishtwar Campus would be taken with Chief Minister as well as the Govt. of India. Mr. Saroori said that Janbaz Kishtwari was not only a reputed singer but also a great Kashmiri poet. He also quoted some of his Kashmiri poetry. He said that presently many writers are working for the development of the Kashmiri language that includes: Rehmat Ali Rehmat, Gulab Saifi, Manshoor Banhali, Margoob Banhali, Bashir Bhaderwahi & others.
Mr. Saroori further said that he would discuss various problem of Kashmiri language with the Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir and will stress to introduce Kashmiri language in schools and colleges of Chenab Valley. He appealed the young generation to speak their mother tongue in their day to day affairs so that the language could flourish. He offered his full support to the Kishtwar Campus for organizing literary events.
In his welcome address Director Kishtwar Campus, Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, in detail threw light on the origin and development of Kashmiri language in the Chenab Valley and expressed that the history of Kashmiri language is incomplete without acknowledging those towering writers such as Rasa Javadani, Kamgar Kishtwari, Nishat Kishtwari, Janbaz Kishtwari & Others who have rendered selfless services to the Kashmiri language. It was Rasa Javadani who provided Kashmiri language Gazals keeping in view the form of gazals.
He thanked the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Jammu University Prof. R.D Sharma for paying his individual attention towards Kishtwar campus. Prof. Shohab Informed that very soon M.Ed Course will be started in Kishtwar Campus which could benefit thousands of students of Chenab Valley as Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Jammu University has assured to introduce the said course in Kishtwar Campus.
In his address Dr. Aftab Ahmed Khan, Principal Degree College Kishtwar informed that most of the people living in various parts of Chenab Valley are migrated from Kashmir Valley having similar culture as exists in Kashmir Valley. Therefore it is the duty of the young generation to preserve their cultural identity. We should produce such a strong talent which could change the corrupt administration setup he said. He congratulated Kishtwar Campus for organizing a successful one day seminar on a vital topic.
