Coalition in J&K hungry for power; Addressed public gatherings at Kahara and Chatroo

Kishtwar, August 21: - Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad today described the BJP and PDP as power hungry parties saying that there is nothing common between the two.

Addressing the two public gatherings at Kahara and Chatroo areas of Inderwal Constituency here, Azad described the present alliance as a combination of opportunist and power-hungry forces, who exploited the sentiments of the people.

The functions was organised by the Vice President JKPCC G. M. Saroori-(MLA Inderwal).

While addressing the gatherings Azad said the BJP sought votes to keep PDP (Baap-Beti) away from power, while the PDP did the opposite in the Kashmir valley. He stated that the BJP exploited the sentiments of people of Jammu by various slogans of abrogation of Article 370, rights to PoK West Pakistan refugees, delimitation of constituencies, plots to the border residents, besides promising a Chief Minister from the region.

Azad said that Congress party would fight for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "We will fight for your rights and will not allow the Government to deprive you of what is your due," Azad said. Despite inclement weather, Azad held detailed interactions with the people of Inderwal constituency who briefed him about the progress of various works in their respective areas.

He said that BJP exploited various emotional issues in Jammu region, especially Article 370, citizenship of West PAK refugees, reservation of seats for POK refugees, issues of border residents and assurance to have chief minister of Jammu region and more particularly to prevent PDP from coming to power. He said that PDP sought votes from Kashmir to keep BJP out from power, besides its agenda of self-rule and other such issues which were totally oppose BJP ideology.
He said that for the last six months the present coalition has created numerous controversies and vitiated the atmosphere in the state because of their wrong policies and inherent contradictions. He said that two parties openly admit their ideological and other differences in all important issues but still want to stick to power.

Azad referred to the plight of farmers in the state and elsewhere in the country, said that Modi led Government has adopted its pro-corporate approach and the falsehood on various issues are getting exposed day by day. He said that prices during the past one and half year of the ‘Modi Government’ have exposed the hollowness of slogans of ‘Achhe Din’ of the Modi led government.

Vice president, PCC, G. M. Saroori in his address lodged his scathing attack on PDP & BJP government for its policies and said that the peace and normalcy was achieved after great sacrifices by the people and the security forces and the same would not be allowed to be derailed. He asked the people especially the youth to act as watch dog on the rights of common people and not allow the BJP to sell the interests of their electorate for sake of power. He said that the Congress will play a pro-active role of protecting interests of people of the state and the nation.

Saroori asked the Congress workers especially the Youth to come forward and strengthen the Congress party which has always taken care of the interests of all weaker sections and poor population.

Earlier, Congress leader from Kahara and Chatroo in their welcome address referred to the various difficulties of people of different areas of district Kishtwar and Doda especially the farmers, MGNREGA payments, Contractors payment, non-availability of basic amenities and sought his intervention. They said that farmers and poor people are facing great hardships as their crops have been totally destroyed in recent unseasonal rains.

Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad along with Vice President JKPCC G. M. Saroori paid obeisance at the dargah of famous Sufi saint Shah Asrar-ud-Din (RA) and prayed for overall development, peace and the prosperity of the people of the State.

Azad spent over 30 minutes at the dargah of Shah Asrar-ud-Din (RA) in Kishtwar. “He offered prayers seeking for the peace, prosperity and tranquility of state”. He performed other rituals at dargah of famous Sufi saint Shah Asrar-ud-Din (RA) along with by Dargah's spiritual.

Later Saroori hosted a dinner party here at his residence at Kishtwar. The dinner was participated by the all the local Congress leaders from district Kishtwar. MLA Saroori shared good wishes Azad and prayed for his good health and success. 

Reciprocating the wishes, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha prayed for peace, development and prosperity of the State and its people. Azad appreciated the role of Mr. Saroori in maintaining the communal harmony and honest approach in dealing with political and development affairs.

Bhalessa, August 20: - Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad visited the residence of noted religious leader of the Bhatyas area in Doda district Haji Ghulam Qadir Butt who passed away last month, to personally convey his condolences.

Azad expressed his sympathies with Imam Jamia Masjid Bhatyas Burhan Ahmed and other members of the bereaved family in their hour of distress. He also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

He described him as a saintly person. Azad said Haji Ghulam Qadir was believed to have attained pinnacles in mysticism and devotion to Almighty.

Vice President JKPCC and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has termed Ganipori sahib demise a great loss that has created a void, difficult to fill. “Haji Ghulam Qadir Bhat Ganipori is a severe blow to Millat- e-Islam”.

In Haji Ghulam Qadir Bhat Ganipori sahib was rolled up several unique qualities; perspicacity of history, literary merit par excellence, humane at heart, intellectual vision coupled with humility and modesty and above all keen desire to spread 'message of humanity' in the light of Quraanic verses and traditions of the Prophet Mohammed (S.A.V.)," Saroori has observed in his speech.

Saroori recalled Haji Ghulam Qadir Bhat Ganipori sahab contribution to Islamic preaching. "The loss, one can imagine, is more keenly felt by the kith and kin of Haji Ghulam Qadir Bhat Ganipori and also from the people of Chenab Valley. I take this opportunity to convey my sincere condolences to them and pray to Allah for Haji Ghulam Qadir Bhat Ganipori sahib soul to achieve elevation and highest position in Jannat-e-Firdaus," said Saroori.

Kishtwar, August 20: - The 71st Birth Anniversary of Late Prime Minister Sh. Rajeev Gandhi was celebrated by the Congress party here at Kishtwar.

Paying floral tributes to late Prime Minister, the Vice President JKPCC G. M. Saroori said that Rajiv Gandhi was visionary leader of 21th century who brings about technological and IT revolution in India.

“It was during his tenure as Prime Minister that the foundation of Information Technology sector was laid in the country. Today India is major contributor in IT sector with a huge army of IT professional’s world over” Saroori said. He exhorted upon the youth to strive for achieving excellence in fields like IT which has huge demand in the world job market.

Recalling the supreme sacrifice of the Late Prime Minister, Saroori described him as the real Indian who laid his life for unity and integrity of nation. “The sacrifices of such great leaders have laid a strong edifice of secularism and socialism in the country due to which we are taking breath in a free and fearless atmosphere today” he said.

He called upon the people for self introspection to see that what they have contributed towards the development of nation and protect its sovereignty and integrity.

Calling upon youth to be partners in the nation building, Mr. Saroori said that UPA government has doing everything to create a congenial atmosphere where every individual could progress and achieve excellence.

Asking the youth to work hard to achieve success, Saroori said that there was no alternative for hard work as it only pays in the long run. He said that education is the only tool, which can change the socio-economic profile of an individual and the society and asked the youth to devote themselves for achieving their goals.

“The UPA government has done everything to explore all possibility to create jobs in government departments as well as public sector but the educated youth should also come forward to set up their income generating self employment units to earn their livelihood with dignity and honour and contribute in the State’s economy” he said . He also asked the youth to imbibe ethics and moral values in themselves to become good citizens.

Governments failed to control militancy, ceasefire violations

Bhaderwah, August 19: - Congress today attacked the Centre and the PDP-BJP coalition in the state for rise in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the border areas saying the governments have failed to control these incidents.

Addressing series of meetings in Doda district, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed concerns over the spurt in militancy incidents and worst ever ceasefire violations by Pakistan. "Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre has failed to control these incidents," Azad said.

He said incidents of terrorism and ceasefire violations along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistan have increased manifold in the recent months. The number of militancy related incidents have taken place in the past several months with reports of fresh recruitment of youth in the militant ranks which is a matter great concern, Azad said, adding that, the government has failed to take necessary measures and provide adequate relief to the victims of firing.

Azad also attacked Prime Minister Narinder Modi saying he preferred to remain silent on the killings of innocent civilians by Pakistan on Independence Day, and failed to give a strong message to the neighbouring country. Pakistan has indulged in unprovoked firing, targeting civilian population and supporting terrorism, he said, while BJP government was desperate to hold NSA level talks with that nation.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said BJP government was "totally confused" on its policy towards Pakistan, as during the UPA regime the party leadership use to oppose talks with that country on the plea that the talks and terror can not go together. Strongly condemning Pakistan for the killing of innocent civilians on the border, Azad said Pakistan was indulging in un-Islamic acts and it shows the signs of frustration and cowardice.

Addressing the gatherings JKPCC Chief Mr. G. A. Mir accused the PDP-BJP coalition in the state of failure to contain the activities of militants besides failing on all fronts so far creating an atmosphere of uncertainty in the state.

Mir said that the recent spurt in militant incidents in the state and infiltration from Pakistan has created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the people. He said that atmosphere of peace and tranquility has been vitiated which was achieved after great struggle and sacrifices of the people and a security forces.

Blaming the present coalition in the state and the centre government for its wrong policies leading to worsening of the overall situation which is a cause of great concern for all peace loving people of the state who wanted peace to prevail for the overall economic growth and progress like other parts of the country.

Mir said that the present coalition of opportunist forces has widened the gap between the regions instead of bridging the same because of their inherent contradictions. He said that the government has been working with vested political interests and has failed to initiate any developmental activities and the much needed relief and rehabilitation measures for the flood and rain affected people and other suffering sections of the society.

In his address Vice President G. M. Saroori said that people are suffering badly in absence of basic facilities in remote areas, he said that government machinery is nowhere visible on ground. The tall claims of PDP led coalition about good governance and development of the State was only to lure the voters for the sake of coming into power, he said.

Asserting that Congress Party would not allow any sort of discrimination with any section, group or society, Saroori assured the people that Congress is fully committed for equal development of the people and the regions. Saroori asked the government to shun these anti- people policies as these are fraught with dangerous consequences, Saroori said.
