Chinyas, December 31: - Member of Legislative Assembly from Inderwal G. M Saroori today toured Chinyas, Bathri and Challar villages of District Doda and held a public grievance camp there.

While holding a series of interactions with the people of the village, MLA Inderwal was apprised about their grievances which include Drinking water shortage, Providing of solar lights in the area, Land protection work over sinking and sliding areas, immediate disbursement of pending wages under MGNREGA, awareness camps through horticulture , agriculture and other allied departments, payment of land compensation to owners of land acquired for various roads, plantation through SFC on the barren land and stretches prone to slides, supply of K-Oil and unscheduled power cuts.

Saroori exhorted upon the officers that benefits of various development and welfare schemes should reach to the real beneficiaries timely. He said that he is committed for socio-economic empowerment of the people especially those living in hilly, remote and far-flung areas. He emphasized on regular monitoring of the development works besides use of quality material. He said no stone would be left unturned in redressing genuine grievances of the people.

On the issue of power cuts, Saroori informed the gathering that Executive Engineer PDD has been already directed to notify a schedule of power curtailment and except any technical fault he has been directed to ensure the uninterrupted power supply in the area, especially during upcoming winter seasons.

Saroori said problem of irregular water supply will be addressed as many water supply schemes has been sanctioned under NRWDP which will definitely addressed the water scarcity problem in the area. He also directed SDM Gandoh to conduct surprise inspections of the government offices to ensure punctuality of the staff. 

Regarding payment under MGNREGA, Saroori directed BDO Jakyas for clearance of MGNREGA payment to job card holders within a week time as Rs. 20 crores have been released for district Doda for the said liability created under MGNREGA work.

He said that he is fully aware about the problems and burning issues of the people in the area and steps are being taken to mitigate them in shortest possible time. He said far reaching reforms are being introduced in all the departments to improve service delivery and expedite development projects. He said that the field functionaries of all the line departments have been directed to work with transparency, accountability and honesty for the benefit and welfare of poor masses.

Saroori also held a series of Congress workers meet at Challar, Chinyas, Bathri areas and asked the cadre to strengthen Congress in every nook and corner in the area so as to boost the party on ground level. He lambasted state and central governments for their ‘failure’ to meet out their promises with the public, adding that developmental activities in the state have come to a standstill. On the occasion BJP Naib Sarpanch from Bathri Abdul Rasheed Lone, senior PDP workers from Bathri Abdul Rashid Mir along with their supporters join Congress in front of PCC Vice President Ghulam Mohammad Saroori.

Saroori calls for efficient public delivery system in far flung areas of Inderwal



Exhorted party workers to expose failure of the lip singing leaders

Malanoo/Bitola, December 30: - PCC Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori Wednesday called upon officers for efficient public delivery system especially in remote and far flung areas of the Inderwal constituency to ensure that people do not face any difficulty for want of basic amenities.

Saroori said this during his extensive tour of Gugara, Malanoo, Bitola, Kencha, Dagroon, and other areas of Inderwal constituency in Doda district.

MLA Inderwal was accompanied by Tehsildar Kahara Ghulam Nabi Malik, BDO Kahara Pritam Singh, Assistant Engineer PHE Bushan Kumar, officials of RDD, PHE, PDD, R&B, Revenue and other sectoral officers besides Sarpanches, Panches and local Congressmen.

While reacting to the recent public statement issued by BJP legislator from Kishtwar that “Congress-NC responsible for Inderwal backwardness and BJP is only genuine accredited voice of people of district Kishtwar, Saroori said it is one more attempt to mislead the people of the state.

Saroori said that there is no need of making such claims as the same are false and misleading. He said that BJP legislator from Kishtwar is Minister in the Mufti led government but could not come up to the expectations of the people of his constituency and hence he will be shown the door. He said that BJP MLA is doing only lip service and showing the people green gardens but on the ground no genuine work of welfare and development was done from the last one year.

It is because of these reasons that people are fed up with such government in a year. “The BJP legislator did not care for the promises and assurances made to the people and hence will face the consequences soon”, Saroori further added that the people are the best judges and they will teach the lip singing people a lesson soon by giving their verdict against them.

Saroori exhorted party workers to expose failures of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) among the masses, he said that performance of the State Government was a big zero and this regime has nothing to exhibit in the name of its achievements.

He said that Congress during its tenure had carved out a path of peace and development in the State by treating all regions and sub-region equally. He recalled that during Congress led regime especial attention was paid towards neglected and remotest areas like Bhalessa, Kahara, Chatroo, Bunjwah, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Banihal, Gurez, Pir Panjal and others. He reminded the gathering that tourist circuit to connect Bhalessa with rest of the country was set up, hospitals, administrative units at door step, Aganwaris, Schools, network of road etc.

On the occasion dozens of PDP-BJP activists joins Congress including Dilawar Hussain Mir, Abdul Subhan Mir, Javed Khangi, Lal Mir, Iyaz Ahmed, Tariq Hussain, Taseen Hussain Mir, Mohd Yaseen Butt all from Bitola Kencha area.

Calling upon the new entrants to strengthen the party by spreading agenda of the party, Saroori said that change was order of the day and people of State were looking towards Congress at National as well as state level to change the present corrupt system.

Saroori convenes Public redressal camp at Tanta, Kahara



PDP activists from Thathri join Congress

Thathri/Tanta, December 29: - Reaching out to the people of far- flung areas of Tehsil Kahra in district Doda, PCC Vice President and MLA Inderwal, G. M Saroori on Tuesday held a public grievance redressal meeting at Tanta area to stock of the people’s problems and developmental needs.

The people apprised MLA Inderwal about the problems being faced by them in their areas. The problems which were highlighted by people were mainly related to filling of vacant posts in sub-centres/ISM health sub centres, early completion of road projects, issue of new ration cards for BPL section, potable drinking water, early payment of MGNREGA job card holders and opening of new Aganwari centres.

People also highlighted the poor condition of electricity in the area and demanded to ensure regular supply of electricity besides replacement of 25kv to 63kv transformers and improved water supply.

The MLA Inderwal was accompanied by SDM Thathri Abdul Qayoom Mir, Tehsildar Kahara Ghulam Nabi Malik, Executive Engineer PMGSY Parvez Ahmed, BDO Kahara Pritam Singh, officials of R&B, PMGSY, PDD, Irrigation and PHE besides Sarpanches and local Congressmen.

Saroori informed the general public of Tanta that he has taken the matter with the higher concern over the less width of Kahara-Tanta road than the prescribed norms and DC Doda was recently asked to constitute a committee to demarcate the land acquired for the road and asses the causes for any such diversion from norms so that the responsibilities could be fixed.

Regarding electricity problems in the area, he said that RGGVY phase II will provide electricity to every nook and corner of Tehsil Kahara besides 63kv transformers will be installed in place of 25kvs. He said that the delay is due to tendering process and said that work on the RGGVY scheme will be start at an earliest. He said that Rs 20 crores have been released to clear the previous liabilities under MGNREGA and called upon the officers to ensure that timely wages are being released to the job seekers in lieu of work done in a transparent manner. He also said that strenuous efforts are being made to get all liability under the scheme liquidated very shortly.

During his tour Saroori also visited Batogra and Chabba areas and has appealed people to extend full cooperation to the administration to achieve considerable results on developmental front. He said he is well aware of public issues and all possible measures and well knit mechanism is being formulated to resolve them so that development and prosperity of people is ensured. He added that provision of basic amenities including electricity, roads, healthcare and education is among his prime priorities and no stone will be left unturned in this regard. MLA Inderwal has urged the officers to help resolve public issues on priority and be prompt to redress their grievances.

Earlier People’s Democratic Party suffered a major jolt in Thathri belt when a large number of senior political activists from PDP from Thathri in Inderwal constituency joined the party. A function was organized at Thathri to welcome them into the party fold.

Welcoming the new entrants, Saroori said their joining the party would further strengthen the Congress party and said "It is high time to further spread message of the party in every village and hamlet of Jammu and Kashmir particularly erstwhile district Doda," he said and asserted that policies and programmes of the party were formulated by incorporating wishes of every section of the society.

Congress committed to improve basic amenities of the people living in hilly areas: Saroori



Assesses public problems of Sarthal area

Sarthal, December 28: - PCC Vice President, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has said that Gujjars and Bakerwals are the eyes, ears and arms of the Congress party. He said that he has made all out efforts to uplift the socio-economic condition of the community in providing educational and other infrastructural facilities to them.

G. M Saroori today said this while addressing large public gatherings of Angara, Bhagra the remotest villages of Sarthal area of district Kishtwar. He had a feel of the problems confronted to the people and assessed, on-the-spot, public problems and reviewing development works coming up in the area.

Saroori said that the mission of the Congress party is to bring Gujjars to the level of their past glory and preparing them for challenges of the future. He said that the earliest historical reference to the Gujjars as a distinct community is found in the Harsha Charita of Bana Bhat. The derivation of ‘Juzr’ or ‘Khazer’ of the Arab historians and the ‘Gheyser’ of the jews are known to be identical with the Gujjars known to have been one time rulers of Gujarat and wide swathes of Rajasthan, the members of this community are known to have migrated to Jammu and Kashmir in 7th century A.D or thereabouts and having taken to cattle rearing as their source of livelihood. Saroori put thrust that they should maintain their culture in every respect.

He said that only Congress party is committed to improve the basic amenities of the people, particularly, living in rural and hilly areas of J&K state. Describing people as the best judges for analyzing progress registered on ground, he asserted that revolutionary measures taken by him would definitely transform the socio economic status of the people, living in far flung areas. He said a massive development plan has been launched and the endeavors are yielding better results on ground.

Saroori said the Public Distribution System would be made more effective in the remote areas and directed the officers of CA&PD to ensure availability of adequate quantity of ration on the depots to avoid inconvenience to the people in these areas. Referring to the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme, he said that having immense potential for income and employment generation, the scheme is being implemented vigorously in order to cover more people in the rural areas. He also said that strenuous efforts are being made to get all liability under the scheme liquidated very shortly.

Establishing a personal chord with the people, Saroori said he is seized of the problems confronted to the people living in remote and far flung areas, assuring that these will be redressed in a phased manner. He said road connectivity is on his high agenda, adding that every part of the Inderwal would be connected with each other through a viable road network.

Took stock of various development works being executed in Kuchal area

Kuchal, December 27: PCC Vice President Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today observed that the State has been plunged into unprecedented crisis due to complete failure of the People’s Democratic Party and Bhartiya Janta Party regime. He emphasized on the need of taking the people of Jammu and Kashmir out of morass and prevailing uncertainty.

Launching a scathing attack on PDP-BJP coalition for prevailing mess and uncertainty in the State, Saroori regretted that during the last one year the present regime has spoiled the peaceful atmosphere in the state. Saroori said this while addressing series of impressive public meetings at Kuchal area of Inderwal constituency.

“What is happening after formation of People’s Democratic Party - Bhartiya Janta Party government is before all of us”, Saroori said and added that prevailing chaos and uncertainty in the State was result of the failure of the present regime to connect itself with the common masses. “From the day one when this government was formed, there is instability and uncertainty in the State”, he said.

Saroori said that present coalition regime has failed to connect itself with the people of the State. “I don’t want to praise Congress work but everything is visible on the ground”, he said while highlighting achievements of Congress work. “What to say to further accelerating Congress agenda of development in the State, the present regime has even failed to complete the works started by Congress regime”. The Congress leader said and added that besides accelerating developmental activities, the Congress government had restored dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He further added that wrong policies being pursued by the PDP-BJP have been fueling alienation and creating desperation among youth of the state.

During his two days visit to Kuchal area, Saroori also took stock of the various development works including Kuchal road, RDD works, water supply schemes, IWMP project being executed in Kuchal area of Kishtwar District. Several deputations, individuals from Simbole, Basha, Kundkha, Harga Mohallah, Butt Pura, Narhang, Raina Mohallah, Sheikh Mohallah, Khantee Mohallah, Mir Mohallah, Malik Mohallah, Rather Mohallah, Hajam Mohallah, Khanpura, Kuchal areas also met MLA Inderwal and put forth various demands. Interacting with general public and local Congressmen Saroori said that he will leave no stone unturned in mitigating their grievances.

Several political activists from BJP have also joined the Congress party. The function was organized to welcome them into the party fold at Kuchal. Saroori has welcomed the new entrants into the party fold. SIGDI/BHATA (MUGALMAIDAN), DECEMBER 21: - Member of legislative Assembly from Inderwal, G. M Saroori today urged upon the people to avail benefits of Social Assistance Scheme ‘Ladly Beti’, adding that the scheme is aimed at providing financial assistance and social security to the girl child in the State.

Addressing large attended public gatherings at Mulchitter and Bhata areas of Sigdi in district Kishtwar, Saroori said “Ladli Beti” is a path-breaking welfare scheme and the deserving people must take full advantage of the same.

Highlighting the benefits of scheme Ladli Beti, Saroori informed that under the scheme, a contribution of Rs. 1000 per month would be made towards the birth of every girl with effect from 01-04-2015 for the next 14 years and on reaching 21 years she would receive around Rs. 6.5 lakh.

Saroori exhorted upon the field functionaries of the Social Welfare Department to work vigorously so that the benefits of the Social Welfare schemes reach the deserving beneficiaries.

During his visit to Bhata area Saroori also kick started work on one important link road- Bhata to Upper Bhata under the PMGSY scheme. The road having length of about 2Kms would be completed at a cost of 1.5 crores. A population of about 4,000 from Bhata, Garat Naal, Dooban, Tathri will be benefited with the construction of this important link road.

Saroori also inspected other PMGSY projects under execution in Sidgi area of Tehsil Mugalmaidan. He said that on completion of this prestigious project a vast population of the area would be benefited. He asked the Tehsildar Mugalmaidan and Executive Engineer PMGSY Chatroo to monitor the ongoing PMGSY projects and ensure time bound completion of all the under execution projects for the benefit of the people of the area. He said he is giving focused attention to improve road networks particularly in far-off and remote areas.

During the tour, number of deputations met the MLA Inderwal and apprised him about the issues and problems confronting pertaining to their areas. The problems which were highlighted included improvement in power supply, MGNREGA payment, compensation of PMGSY roads, Opening of new Sheep Husbandry centres in the areas and other day to day problems, Saroori gave patient hearing to all the deputations and assured them that their genuine demands and issues will be resolved on priority besides MGNREGA liability will be cleared at an earliest. He also gave on spot directions to concerned authorities for early mitigation of certain issues.

Ensure use of standard material on PMGSY projects: Saroori to PMGSY officials



Conducted an extensive tour of sub-division Thathri

Thathri, Dec 23: Member of Legislative Assembly from Inderwal, G. M Saroori, has expressed his anguish over the use of substandard construction material on Thathri-Cheera road under PMGSY. The length of the road is 14 kms which would be completed at a cost of 1,445.0 lakhs. A population of about, 3000 will be benefited with the construction of these roads.

Saroori has asked the concerned authorities to ensure the use of standard material in the project so that people could not face any difficulty in transportation. He has warned that no compromise would be made over the standard of people welfare developmental schemes and contractor and other authorities responsible for lethargy would be taken to task. He asked the sectoral officers to ensure use of quality material in execution of projects and conduct frequent visits to the project sites especially in mountainous and remote areas. He said any lapse, in this regard, would not be tolerated.

He expressed these views during his tour to several villages including Rangolla, Nowtas, Zenheri, Batarra, Nandana, Cheera, Thathri areas of sub-division Thathri. He also inspected several ongoing projects and instructed executing agencies for time bound completion of these works.

Responding to complaint of locals that substandard material was used in execution of work on Thathr-Cheera road, Saroori asked Executive Engineer PMGSY Thathri to depute a team of one Assistant Executive Engineer PMGSY, Junior Engineer and other staffs to monitor the road. He asked him to investigate and examine the matter and submit the factual report within two week’s time and ensure time bound completion of all the under execution projects in Thathri sub-division for the benefit of the people of the area.

Saroori also addressed public meetings at mountainous villages of Thathri area and assured the people that all their genuine demands and developmental needs would be fulfilled in a phased manner. He said upgradation of basic facilities especially in hilly and border areas is his priority. He also asked the Rural Development authorities to clear all back long payments of the job card holders and issuing these cards to the left out deserving families at the earliest.

Instability and uncertainty in the state after the formation of PDP-BJP government; three dozen BJP activists from Bunjwah joined Congress party

Patnazi (Bunjwah), DECEMBER 19: - The credibility of the PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir is at its lowest due to failure on all fronts and rampant corruption, Indian National Congress Vice President Ghulam Mohammad Saroori said today.

Addressing a public meeting in the far flung areas of Tehsil Bunjwah, the Saroori said: “From day one, when this government (People’s Democratic Party-Bhartiya Janta Party coalition) was formed, there is instability and uncertainty in the state.” He told a large gathering of people that “prevailing anarchy and chaos in the state is a result of the failure of the system”.

The former minister observed: “The situation which was prevailing in the state since March 2015 still persists because the government has failed to bring transparency and accountability in the system.”

He also called the PDP-BJP regime a “directionless coalition” which has entered into an alliance “just to grab power”. The Saroori said both the coalition partners speak in different tones on many important issues. He said nothing has been implemented on the ground, as for the political promises, the promises of return of power projects, revocation AFSPA, Article 370, Article 35 A- every single promise has been abandoned", Saroori said.

Saroori said the BJP leadership instead of working seriously for the people’s cause, has pushed them to the wall through its insensitiveness, callous attitude and mis-governance over the last one year. He said change is imminent on the ground and even after having read the writing on the wall the ruling party leadership has adopted ostrich like attitude and are now trying to mislead the people through fake promises and deceptive announcements. “BJP is a story of broken promises which has not been able to fulfill a single promise to the people from time to time,” Saroori said adding BJP has a history of taking the people for granted by not fulfilling the promises it had made to them with the result it has completely lost its credibility and compromised its identity.

The Congress leader G. M Saroori said the development of far-flung areas, like Kither, Patnazi, Nali, Jalapur, Singpora, Inderwal, Keshwan, Thakrie, Sarawan, Sigdi, Kuchal, Mugalmaidan, Saroor, Drabshalla, Kontawara, Kahara, Challar, Chinyas, Tanta, Trankhle, Kencha, Drought, Bathri, Bhatyas, Jakyas, Bhalessa, Thathri, Phigsoo, Parnoth, Shareykh, Dadi Kathawa, Inderala, is his priority and he will leave no stone unturned in redressing the genuine issues of these areas.

On the occasion more than 30 BJP activists from Patnazi Bunjwah joined Congress party in front of G. M Saroori. People stand by the Congress; BJP is doing political vendetta: Saroori

KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 19: - Congress workers held protest rally on Saturday, accusing the BJP-led Centre of pursuing politics of "vendetta" in the National Herald case to "malign" the image of the party and its top leaders.


A large number of Congress workers and supporters led by JKPCC Vice President and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori assembled at Dak Banglow from where they started march towards Deputy Commissioner's office and blocked the main road for several hours in Kishtwar. The Congress leaders were also wearing the black band on their head and arm in protest against the National Herald case here.


They raised slogans like "Tanashahi nahi chalegi" (dictatorship will not be tolerated)" and "Badle ke rajnathi nahi chalegi (politics of revenge) besides raised slogans in support of their leaders.


Saroori, while addressing the party workers, said National Herald case was a pure "political vendetta", and the Congress workers will not tolerate this "political atrocity" and that’s why they came on street against it.


"We will not allow BJP to pursue political vendetta. Series of such protests are held today throughout the country because the people stand by the Congress as they know whatever BJP is doing is political vendetta," said Saroori.


Executive Member JKPCC Ghulam Haider Sheikh in his speech said that "revenge politics" was being pursued by the BJP after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister. "As soon as Narendra Modi became PM, they have targeted Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi. We are protesting against this vendetta politics," Sheikh said.


Later a Congress workers meeting was also held here at Saroori’s residence Kishtwar in which large number of workers from different parts of district Kishtwar participates. Speaking on the occasion Saroori said that present PDP-BJP coalition regime has failed to connect itself with the people of the State. He highlighted achievements of the Congress regime and regretted that the present dispensation has failed carry forward the agenda of peace and development which was aggressively pursued by its predecessor.

Bunjwah (Kishtwar), December 17: - Senior Congress politician and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today also kick started his two days tour to Tehsil Bunjwah where a meeting of Rogi Kalyan Simiti committee was held under the Chairmanship of MLA Inderwal, G. M Saroori at Primary Health Centre, Nali Bunjwah. The main thrust of the meeting was to identify the problems faced by the patients and to bring improvement in facilities being provided in the PHC’s, sub-centres of Tehsil Bunjwah.

During the meeting, achievements of all health centres of Bunjwah area were reviewed threadbare besides activities of Rogi Kalyan Simiti in the area. MLA on the occasion asked health officers to ensure better health facilities in these institutions for the patients.

Earlier, Doctors appraised MLA about various problems in the health institutions and sought his intervention for improvement in the facilities.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Sajid Incharge MO, Dr Murtaza Ali Dental Surgeon, Dr. Tasatuq Amin MO, Dr. Haroon Rashid MO, Amit Kumar Sen BM and EO block Kishtwar, Mohd Ayoob Sheikh Head pharmacist, Mushtaq Ahmed Keen Junior Engineer RDD, Mohd Shafi, Hina Anjum ANM, Mohd Iqbal Keen and others.

Hurna/Bunjwah (Kishtwar), December 16: - Senior Congress politician and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today visited Khawjgam, Hurna area of tehsil Mugalmaidan in Inderwal constituency of district Kishtwar to console the families affected by a blaze yesterday that destroyed two houses and a Temple of the village.

Tehsildar Mugalmaidan Irshad Ahmed, BDO Mugalmaidan Mohsin Raza, TSO Chatroo Tariq Munshi, SHO Ravi Kant, Tariq Wani, Bidya Lal, Somnath, Santosh Kumar, Pershant Bhandari and other officials of the sub-division Chatroo were also present.

Saroori expressed deep sympathy with the affected families and assured them all support in reorganizing their shattered lives and a Temple of the village. He appreciated the efforts of the village population especially of the majority community in trying to save the other houses and shops of the minority community people and commended this show of communal harmony.

A large number of people had gathered here on hearing about the arrival of the MLA Inderwal. Saroori said that he was with them in this hour of grief. He told them that he had not come to make a speech but to share their pain.

Saroori distributed relief among the fire sufferers of Hurna, whose houses were gutted in a devastating fire yesterday. Interacting with the victims, Saroori said that he has already directed Tehsildar Mugalmaidan to prepare a comprehensive report about the damages/losses so that adequate compensation can be given to the victims. Essential things like Ration, blankets were also distributed to the fire sufferers.

MLA Inderwal G. M Saroori has also announced rupees one lakh from his constituency development fund for fire incident and gave rupees ten thousands to Pujari of the temple as a compensation for the construction of a shed in the temple premises besides this Saroori also gave rupees five thousands each to the owner of the two residential houses whose houses were gutted yesterday namely Bagh Chand and Malal Singh resident of Chanser Mugalmaidan.

Saroori also assured the general public that a thorough probe “to know the exact cause of fire and mischief if any” and assured his all help in an immediate reconstruction of the temple.
