EC Inspects Markets, Public Infra at Ramban




Committee conducted tour of Baglihar Power House; listened grievances of labourers

RAMBAN, DECEMBER 07: The Environment Committee of the J&K Assembly completed inspection of various markets and bus stands including roads and hospitals in erstwhile Doda district.

The Committee was headed by MLA, Inderwal, G. M Saroori and comprised legislators Dr. Krishan Lal, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, Neelam Langeh, Daleep Singh Parihar, Naresh Gupta, Gulzar Ahmed Wani and Sham Lal Bhagat.

While interacting with the staff at District Hospital Ramban, Sarooi advised them for using solid waste management techniques to dispose the medical wastes and not to throw them openly in the streets and drains where the possibility of contamination and infection arises. He further added that it is better to dig pits at some suitable places as per the guidelines for the proper storage and disposal of the sewages.

The committee also conducted tour of Baglihar Power House where the grievances of some labourers were listened patiently.

While briefing the labouers, Saroori said that Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly Committee on Environment extends support to the agitating workers of Baghliar Hydel project. He assured committees full support to their genuine demands.

Saroori also outlined some man-made causes of ecological disturbances and said that we should never show unsympathetic attitude towards the environment. He felt satisfaction over sanitation preparedness at Chanderkote and surrounding areas.  

Other who accompanied the committee were Additional Secretary, Health, Ashraf  Hakak, Additional Secretary, JKLA, Naseema Jan, Deputy Director, Urban Local bodies besides other senior officers.
