Joint House Committee inspects city hospitals


Review functioning of the Health Department; took stock of physical and financial achievements

JAMMU, May 30: The Joint House Committee headed by MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga visited Government Hospital Sarwal, Government SMGS Hospital and Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital and took stock of patient care and related facilities at these health  institutions.

The Committee members G. M. Saroori, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Ali Mohammed Dar, Firdous Ahmed Tak and Ramesh Arora were part of the visiting Joint House Committee.

At these hospitals, the Legislators interacted with the staff and the patients and enquired about the facilities being provided to them. The Chairman directed doctors and para-medicos to extend their services with utmost zeal and dedication and uphold the dignity of this noble profession. He also appealed to the people to help the managements in maintaining discipline and cleanliness in these health institutions for their own benefit.

During their visit to these Government Hospitals, Committee members inspected OPDs, Labour Room and other sections. At Gandhi Nagar Hospital, the Committee members visited Partograph section, Dialysis Section, Wards and other sections of the hospital.

Later, the Chairman along with other members chaired a review meeting of the Health Department and took stock of physical and financial achievements during the previous financial year.

The Committee Members exhorted upon the Medical Superintendents and other stakeholders to share collective responsibility for the betterment of these hospitals. 

They stressed on the need for coordination between Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and para-medical staff for better results. The Minister said that health sector has made good achievements but a lot was yet to be done.

The committee members were accompanied by Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Secretary Council Abdul Majid, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Principal GMC Jammu Dr. Sunanda Raina, MD NHM Jammu Yashpal Sharma, Commissioner JMC Ramesh Kumar, Medical Superintendent Dara Singh, Arun Sharma, Raj Kumar, SEs, XENs and other concerned officers of Health Department.

Joint House Panel for augmenting infra in Govt health institutions


SRINAGAR, May 29: The Joint House Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council constituted to look into the alleged medical negligence by doctors into the death of son of sitting MLC, Ramesh Arora in Government Medical College, Jammu met here under the chairmanship of MLC, Ghulam Nabi Moga and discussed some of the important aspects related to the incident.

Legislators, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Ali Mohammad Dar, Dr Shehnaz Ganai and Firdous Ahmad Tak attended the meeting.

The Committee discussed the measures to be taken to further improving the health care and infrastructural facilities in Government health institutions, including GMC, Jammu so that every common man can avail these hassle-free.

The Committee opined that healthcare is the fundamental right of every citizen, for which the Government spends lot of funds, and authorities must ensure that best treatment is ensured to every needy. They further called that health authorities should be made more transparent and accountable to restore the confidence of patients and every effort should be made that no patient dies due to medical negligence.

The members suggested several valuable measures to be taken at the tertiary level to save precious lives in the government institutions. They called for periodical review of facilities by the higher authorities to plug the gaps, if any found at any level. The health is a paramount sector and Government should pay focused attention to further strengthen it at all levels, said the Committee.

Additional Secretary, Council, Ali Mohammad Rawat, besides other senior officers and officials of Council Secretariat were also present in the meeting.

Joint house panel visits GMC, meet border firing victims


JAMMU, MAY 26: - The Joint House Committee on Medical Negligence (JHCMN) headed by its Chairman, Ghulam Nabi Monga visited Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital here to enquire about the condition of persons injured in cross border firing.

The Committee members G. M. Saroori, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Dr. Shehnaz Ganai, Ali Mohammed Dar, Firdous Ahmed Tak and Ramesh Arora were part of the visiting joint house panel.

The legislators interacted with the injured persons undergoing treatment in the hospital and enquired about their health and facilities provided to them.

The Committee was briefed by a team of doctors, led by Principal, GMC, Dr Sunanda Raina about the treatment being provided to the patients. The Committee directed the management to maintain cleanliness in the wards and surroundings.

Committee also inspected various Departments of the hospital and interacted with the staff. Later, the Committee also visited Super specialty Hospital Jammu and took stock of the functioning of the hospital.

Education Minister directs for meeting staff dearth through academic arrangement


Reviews performance of education dept in Jammu districts

JAMMU, MAY 24- Minister for School Education, Hajj and Auqaf and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali, today directed the authorities to meet shortage of teaching staff through academic arrangement to avoid loss of studies of the children.

He directed to complete the process within fifteen days.

The Minister was chairing a meeting to review the physical and financial achievements under education sector in districts of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Udhampur, Reasi, Poonch and Rajouri districts.

Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Finance, Planning, Law & Justice, Relief & Rehabilitation and Labour & Emp, Agriculture, Floriculture and Horticulture Ajay Nanda, Minister of State for Education, Tourism, Tribal Affairs, Technical Education, R&B, Rural Development, Information, Youth Services & Sports, Revenue, and Culture Shakti Raj Parihar, Legislator Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, R. S Pathania, Pawan Gupta, Dina Nath, Daleep Singh Parihar, Neelam Langeh, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Sham Lal Bhagat were also present in the meeting.

Director School Education Jammu Rakesh Sarangal in his power point presentation apprised the Ministers and legislators about district wise number of government schools, enrollment, literacy rate, staff availability including teachers, principals, lecturers, ZEOs, Headmasters, result percentage for the year 2017-18, financial and physical status of ongoing construction works , proposed capital expenditure budget for the current session, mid-day meal scheme, model schools, proposal for up-gradation of schools, Financial and physical progress of construction works under Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and others.

The Ministers were further informed about total number of students enrolled in government schools in all these districts and about the status of total literacy rate of these districts.

Zulfkar directed the school authorities to conduct safety audit of all government schools buildings and asked the concerned authorities to vacate all the unsafe school buildings so as to avoid any untoward incident on this account. He also directed to ensure that all private schools function as per norms. He further directed for provision of filtered drinking water facility in all government schools within stipulated time frame.

He directed to stop premature transfer of teachers and directed for rationalization of staff in schools facing shortage.

Other issues discussed in the meeting including drop out and literacy survey, school building entry in revenue records, Salary under SSA, besides other issues. He also instructed for immediate detachment of teachers otherwise strict action will be taken against DDOs.

Ajay Nanda and Shakti Raj exhorted upon the teaching fraternity to uphold the dignity and sanctity of this noble profession by discharging their duties with utmost sincerity and devotion as the onus of shaping the nation’s future lies on them.

All the legislators highlighted various issues of their respective constituencies. The Minister welcomed the suggestions of the Legislators and assured them that the same would be incorporated to streamline the functioning of the department.

Among others, Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmad Shah, Deputy Commissioners of various districts, Director Education Kashmir, State Project Director SSA and RAMSA, Joint Director Planning, Chief Education Officers, Zonal Education Officers, Principals of DIET and other senior officers of the department attended the meeting.

Ghulam Nabi Azad greets people on the auspicious occasion of Ramazan


JAMMU, MAY 16: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha (MP), Ghulam Nabi Azad, Vice president JKPCC and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Executive Member JKPCC Mohammed Sharief Niaz, General Secretary JKPCC Abdul Majid Wani today greeted the Muslim community on the start of the holy month of Ramadan.

"Our greeting to the Muslim community as the holy month of Ramadan begins. May this Ramadan month brings peace and happiness in everyone's lives," Congress leaders said in a greeting message.

"May this holy month also enhance the spirit of harmony and togetherness in Jammu and Kashmir," Congress leaders from Chenab valley added. Ramadan is observed as a fasting period by Muslims, who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset.

JAMMU, MAY 15: - To assess sector-wise physical and financial progress besides taking stock of implementation of decisions taken in previous Board meetings, Member of Legislative Assembly from from Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori raises various public demands related to Inderwal constituency falling under the jurisdiction of Doda district.

Minister for Social Welfare, ARI Trainings and Science & Technology, Sajad Gani Lone chaired the District Development Board (DDB) review meeting of district Doda here.

Mr. Saroori highlighted various public related demands includes sanctioning of construction of road from Gugara to Kralpura via Nagni, Bathri to Huttan Sanothe under NABARD scheme, construction of road from Jaba to Piyakul Nagni under CRF scheme, release of compensation for ongoing schemes under state sector, district sector or NABARD including Goila Trankhle, Gugara Zig to Jai Kahara, Bhatyas to Jakyas, circular road Kahara, Bhatyas to Challar, Hanoo link road and Madrassa Bhatyas road, sanctioning of new primary school at Sanothe Batyas and Kohlipura Dugroon, Bathri, early start of work on receiving station Kahara, utilization of funds which are sanctioned under RGGVY phase II, Deen Dayal and Subhagya schemes from which all habitats of Doda district will get electricity and people will get sigh of relief, opening of fire service station at Kahara and Jakyas which is the need of the hour, construction of protection wall near Ziyarat shareef Gugara Kahara which was damaged due to last year flood, construction of park at charwa Kahara by floriculture department, construction new foot bridges at Gwas and Indloo, transfer of horticulture department land to education department for the construction of HSS Jakyas school ground, early vacate of army from Thathri, early construction of TRC building and Bus stand at Thathri, construction of revenue complex building at Kahara, construction of food store building at Kahara, conversion of ration cards from APL to BPL, issuing of ration cards among consumers, Early completion of appointment of dealers in newly sanctioned fair price shops, sanctioning of new ten thousands (10,000) solar lights for Inderwal constituency, early clearance of work done in R&B, PMGSY, JKPCC, MGNREGA, IHHL, Swatch Bharat liabilities, installation of ATMS at Kahara, Bathri and Jakyas areas.

Senior Legislator from Inderwal also expressed his concerns related to poor funding in different sectors, delay in development works of roads, schools, construction of GMC Doda, Construction on TRC Thathri, bus stand, posting of headmasters, principle, shortage of staff in schools, Early start of work Kandi Canal, installation of iron poles besides constituency specific requirements, development of infrastructure at tourist sites.

Responding to the issues raised by the legislator, the Minister assured MLA that these will be redressed in a time bound manner.

BURDHAR (BUNJWAH), MAY 14: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohamamd Saroori toured Patnazi, Burdhar areas of tehsil Bunjwah. The programme was organised as part of public outreach programme to redress the grievances of general public. The people raised issues mainly pertaining to clearance of compensation on PMGSY road, clearance of job card holder’s payment under RDD department, laying of pipes for drinking water, proper installation of electric poles from Burdhar to Kither areas, distribution of ration cards to BPL consumer, improvement of roads and basic amenities.

While addressing an impressive public meeting, Mr. Saroori said people should not come under false propaganda of PDP-BJP, as both the parties are in habit of making tall claims and promises, but everyone in the State has realized that these Party which came into existence on different type of slogans has failed to deliver on every count, as a result, their deep alienation among the people which is not a good sign.

Saroori said that Agenda of Alliance and promises made by PDP BJP during elections in which withdrawal of AFSPA, return of power projects, talks with all Stake Holders including Hurriyat, Hindu Chief Minister, Article 370, depositing of Rs. 15 lakhs in each citizen account, bringing back of black money, answer to Pakistan stands exposed before the people. He said that both PDP and BJP by virtue of their dual standards created a history of betrayals & backstabbing and not even a single promise was fulfilled, as a result people in the entire valley are deeply hurt, as that people will always remember them for playing with their emotions of people for the sake of power.

He said it is ultimately the people, who continue to suffer due to the unfavourable situation arising from time to time in the state, but the irony is that despite the boiling no sincere efforts were made to restore peace and normalcy in the state. He said the successive U turns by PDP and BJP on various occasions, for the sake of remaining power is responsible for the deep hurt feeling among the common masses, as a result, the development of the people as was expected from the ruling dispensation has come to a standstill as there is sign of improvement on ground. The promises made with the people by BJP during 2014 elections has also proved a blatant lie, as a result, the people in Jammu also have realized that they have been misled on so called development slogan by BJP. He urged upon the people to rise to the occasion and seek explanation from the BJP for betraying them. He said PDP and BJP are responsible for the present prevailing circumstances as it has utterly failed to come up to the expectations of the people in every respect, resulting in deep hurt feeling among the heart and minds of people.

Saroori said that residents of Bunjwah will soon get relief from bumpy roads and potholes as Rs. 20 crores have been sanctioned for the blacktopping work from Dunadi to Bunjwah road upto Patnazi. The work shall be commenced in the month of August this year and will be completed with a period of one year. He also announced Rs. 3 crores for the construction of road from Sharekh to Burdhar via Naga under NABARD scheme besides this Rs. 2 crores for construction of 45 metres span bridge on Patnazi to Kither road. He further informed the public that Rs. 2.5 crores have been sanctioned for the Burdhar water supply scheme from that all the drinking water problems will be solved in a time bound manner. He urged the officials to work with commitment and dedication and timely sort out problems faced by the far flung people.

On the occasion eight dozens of workers from ruling parties PDP and BJP joined Congress. While welcoming the new entrants, Mr. Saroori said that it was matter of satisfaction that Congress, has emerged as strong political force in the state as well as a credible voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

BUNJWAH, MAY 13: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today described Congress Party as a strong and vibrant force in the State which is capable enough to defeat fascist, communal forces in the country. He said this during his extensive tour to Sharekh, Kewa, Noor, Jawalapur, Chakroon, Binoon, Patnazi areas that the Party has never compromised on its ideology, principles for the sake of power.

Saroori said that the Congress Party will remain committed to the cause of strengthening people and working for the peace, progress and overall development of the State. He said that the Congress alone stands as a guarantee to the secular fabric, diversity and unity in the country and will remain committed to fight and defeat the fascist, communal forces posing a threat to the secular fabric of the country, which is in great danger under BJP-RSS rule.

“Despite the highhandedness and discrimination by the ruling parties they will never succeed to stop people from raising their heads against the wrong policies of the Govt,” he said and pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir was a symbol of unity and multiplicity, but since the PDP BJP assumed power, things started worsening and attempts were made to pollute the secular fabric and unity in the State. “But the people of the State being wise enough realized that conspiracies were being hatched to divide people on regional lines. I am confident that people in all the three regions will continue to fight for peace, progress and development,” Saroori added.

On the occasion hundreds of workers from ruling parties BJP and PDP from Bunjwah area of Inderwal constituency joined Congress in an impressive functions organized at Sharekh, Kewa, and Binoon areas to welcome them with open arms. Stating that their entry would strengthen the Congress in Bunjwah and said that their entry would give boost to the party in Bunjwah belt. He said the rural areas have always believed in Congress ideology and days ahead would see the strength of Congress. He expressed satisfaction that people from rural areas are now turning towards congress Party throughout the country.

Earlier hundreds of students from Government Higher Secondary School Binoon, Bunjwah boycott their classes and held a strong protest by blocking Thathri-Bunjwah road at Binoon ahead of MLA Inderwal’s two day tour of Bunjwah area. They were demanding posting of lecturers for Chemistry and Biology in the school as nearly 400 students including girls are studying in the school. The students were having placards in their hands and were demanding full strength of teaching staff, completion of work on playground, boundary wall and other needs of institution. Besides this the students were demanded sanctioning of Government Degree College for Bunjwah.

Mr. Saroori said that the demand of students is genuine added that he had even raise this issue several times in Assembly as well as with the concern authorities for sanctioning of Degree Colleges for Kahara, Bunjwah and Jakyas areas. He said that the government fails to do justice with the Chenab valley added that many deserving areas have been ignored by the present dispensation (PDP and BJP). He said that he will continue the fight for sanctioning Degree College for these places.

Regarding the vacant posts of lecturer, Saroori telephonically took up the matter with Director School Education Jammu who had assured him that the staff will be provided to the school added that soon after taking up the matter with Director School Education, CEO Kishtwar issued appointment of Botany and Chemistry lectures for the HSS Binoon today itself which brings relief to the 400 students studying in HSS Binoon. Saroori also asked the school principal to provide the performa for providing the computers to school on the same pattern they provide it to HSS Sarthal under constituency development funds (CDF). On the issue of playground, he (Saroori) directed the Rural Development Department (RDD) Bunjwah to take up the construction of boundary wall under convergence scheme.

A public darbar was also held at Binoon Bunjwah wherein people from all sections of the society participated and put forth their long pending demands. The charter of demands presented by the local people mainly included macadamisation on Dunadi to Bunjwah road, electrification of left out areas, road compensation, providing drinking water facility, clearance of MGNREGA, IHHL payment. Responding to their demands, Saroori assured the people that their genuine demands would be mitigated in a time bound manner.

Officials of RDD, Revenue, PHE, CAPD and others besides this local Congressmen’s were present on the occasion.

G. M Saroori convened public darbar at Keshwan; Listens to peoples grievance

THAKRIE, MAY 09: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President and MLA Inderwal, G. M Saroori convened a public darbar at Keshwan area of Thakrie block to listen to the problems of people at their door steps.

The Darbar was attended by the officials from RDD, PHE, watershed, I&FC, R&B, besides local congressmen’s.

Most of the public demands were pertaining to the provision of safe drinking water supply, rational and speedy ration supply, upgradation of link roads, power facility and proper upkeep of transformers, transportation facility, clearance of MGNREGA and IHHL liability, blacktopping on various link roads, health care, etc.

Reiterating his commitment to keep constant rapport with the public and move the administration out of the offices to villages, Saroori said on the spot appraisal of public needs and redressal of their grievances will be the benchmark of his governance. He enquired about the status of each work pointed out by the public to officers who gave details of the projects and timeframe for their completion. He emphasized the need for completing all works in a targeted timeframe and asked the officers to formulate proposals for various demands projected by the people during the open darbar.

Mr. Saroori said that holding of such darbars will form a permanent feature and the gap between administration and the public would be reduced to zero level so that policy planning will be framed according to the public needs in particular areas. This will also give ample opportunity to the officers of various departments to get firsthand appraisal of the problems of people in rural and far-flung areas.

On the occasion Mr. Saroori also announced blacktopping on vital link road from Kuriya Keshwan road for that Rs. 11 crores has been sanctioned. The work will be executed by PMGSY department. He also announced construction of motorable bridge on Kuriya Keshwan road besides this announced construction of road from Sirgwari to Sarawan via Kurna. He also announced Rs. 2.5 crores water supply scheme for Keshwan area to which all the problems related to drinking water facility will be solved.

During the public interaction, Mr. Saroori assured people that their genuine grievances would be addressed on priority. He further asked the officers to work with honesty and dedication and come up to the expectation of the people and mitigate their problems. He asked the people to come up and avail maximum benefit from the schemes launched in the area for upliftment of socio-economic condition of weaker sections of the society.

Earlier Mr. Saroori also hold a party meeting at Sirgwari area and said that PDP and BJP are playing divisive politics in the country for its vested interests to generate vote bank. These parties are creating wedge between the Hindus and Muslims, who are living in communal harmony and brotherhood in the country for the centuries. He said Governments would come and go but such politics or exploiting religious sentiments of the people of both the communities for the political gains, will badly damaged the age old traditions of harmony and co-existence of all the communities in this great secular nation. He warned the PDP and BJP leadership to desist from issuing loud slogans which damage the social fabric and cause damage to our unique secular identity.

Later Mr. Saroori also inspected the construction of high school building Keshwan, constructed by R&B department at an estimate cost of Rs. 53 lakhs.

BHALESSA, MAY 10: - Urging the Party Cadres and leaders to play the role of unifying force and defeat the designs of communal and divisive forces hell bent upon to disturb the communal harmony and secular fabric in the regions of the State, JKPCC Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori stressed upon the need to isolate anti peace elements creating wedge between the people to take advantage of the situations.

Mr. Saroori blamed both Centre and State Govts for not coming up to the expectations of the people, as a result people in all the three regions feel betrayed and back stabbed, Mr. Saroori who conducted extensive tour of Challar, Chinyas, Amritpura, Beli, Akhyarpur, Jakyas areas of sub-division Gandoh.

He urged the party leaders to defeat the designs of anti-peace elements creating fissures in the communities in order to take full advantage of the disturbances to serve their vested interests. He said Congress is committed its position of maintaining integrity of the State and is capable of defeating the forces harming the tradition of unity, together & brotherhood in the State. He said Jammu and Kashmir is a unique state in which people of every religions live in an atmosphere of friendship and brotherhood and respect the emotions of each other, but there are certain forces visible and invisible who want to disturb this age old tradition of communal harmony and brotherhood, but Congress Party being the only unifying force will defeat their designs and won’t allow any external or internal force to vitiate the atmosphere of peace in the State. Congress Party has a history of serving and strengthening the people and would continue to remain steadfast in strengthening the people

Referring to the failure of the State & Centre Govts, Saroori said that not only people of the Country, but the State also have fully realized that both Centre Govt and State Govt have exploited them on certain sensitive issues for the sake of coming into the Power. The promises made with the people of Chenab Valley, rural, far-flung areas by PDP BJP in the State have not been fulfilled as yet, as a result the people of all the three regions feel alienated. He termed the current unrest in the Valley as the outcome of the misrule and anti-people polices of the PDP BJP Coalition, who have promised a lot to address the concerns of the people, but nothing was done on their Part even the AOP between the Coalition Partner’s (PDP -BJP) have proved to be a political gimmick to betray and keep the people guessing that something would happen, but the people have realized they have been back stabbed by PDP & BJP for the sake of power.

On the occasion many political leaders including Mohd Abbass, Mohd Ramzan Butt, Jaan Mohd Ganie, Cohra (Dev Jaan) Ganaie along with dozens of workers joined Congress party in presence of Mr. Saroori. Welcoming the newly joined workers in Congress, Saroori said that Congress is the voice of people. “It has always stood for the people and will continue to represent the aspirations of all the sections of the society”, he added.

CHATROO, MAY 11: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori accused PDP and BJP of being only interested in retaining power and vowed to fight for rights of the people against forces inimical to the unity and integrity of the state.

Addressing the various public meetings at Bonda, Mullar, Pahalgwar, Changam, Parna, Chingam areas of sub-division Chatroo, Saroori said, “PDP-BJP coalition has time and again proved that their interests lie only in keeping their chair safe. What people of the State are going through in terms of turmoil-ridden security scenario, massacres, non-availability of essential commodities is something they are hardly bothered with”.

Saroori lambasted the PDP and BJP for befooling and exploiting the religious and regional sentiments of people for political gains but now they have taken U-turn on all those issues and slogans. The people of rural and far flung areas are suffering because of the failures of the present state and centre government policy. He also criticized to the approach of the present government towards SCs/STs in the State who are being deprived of their rights extended to them by the previous government due to efforts of Congress party.

He said that poor and downtrodden section of the society are hard-pressed due to unprecedented price hike and anti people policies of the State and Centre government and hook towards congress party to represent their voice and anger. He said congress party is fully behind the people and would support their genuine cause on all the platforms for their redressal.

Saroori at a function held at Mullar and Chingam areas to welcome Senior PDP leader Shri Akhtar Hussain Butt and Senior BJP leader Shri Chaman Lal into Congress party along with their hundreds of supporters.

Welcoming Akhtar Hussain Butt, Chaman Lal and others in the party fold, Saroori said newly entrant members are the source of strength and they will be valued like the cadre of Congress in steering out the state from prevailing morass. He hoped that their joining will infuse new vigour to the cadre in sub-division Chatroo to serve the area and its people. On the occasion MLA Inderwal has announced Rs 21 crores for the blacktopping work on Sinthan top which was the long pending demand of the Chatroo area. The work will be supervised by R&B department. He has also announced the blacktopping on various link roads Parna to Bona, Dumber to Mullar, besides this Rs 2 crores for the motorable bridge on Mullar road under PMGSY scheme. He also gave on spot instructions to the concerned officials to address the problems in a time bound manner and ensure speedy disposal of all the matters.

SARTHAL, MAY 05: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori said that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) government has failed to build on the foundation of good governance and development laid by previous UPA I and UPA II government.

Addressing a large public meeting at Angara area of Sarthal, Saroori said previous Congress had laid a strong foundation for equitable development but the present regime has failed to carry forward the agenda of peace and development in the State. He said that good work both on political as well as development front done by the Congress regime has been reversed during the last four years rule of present PDP-BJP government.

Saroori said time has come for the people to get united and teach a lesson to ruling dispensation for adopting wrong policies towards them (people). He said that efforts are being made to harm the age old tradition of brotherhood and harmony, but Congress is capable enough to defeat the forces hell bent upon harm the secular fabric of the country.

He appealed people to rise and make vigorous efforts to strengthen the secular forces in the state, as that will be the defeat to anti peace forces vitiating the vitiating atmosphere of peace to serve their dirty political ends. There is mass discontent among the people due to misrule and mismanagement of the situation in the state, as a result, people in entire state especially rural areas are living in a great fear, he blamed the ruling dispensation for deep alienation among the people.

Saroori also lashed out at ruling dispensation for victimizing people on political lines. “PDP, BJP has lost the ground due to its unfriendly attitude towards the people, besides the wrong policies adopted by these parties, disturbed the socio political scenario of the state.” He said PDP and BJP has not come up to the expectations of the, as the promises made during the 2014 Assembly elections have proved a blatant lie, as result, there is a great resentment against the ruling dispensation. He assured the people that Congress was committed to the overall development of the State.

A rally from Angara to Eid Gah was also hold by Congress workers who shouted slogans against the Modi government and the state governments, demanding urgent action against the perpetrators of heinous gang rape of minor “Asifa” in Kathua area. "We are here against crimes being committed against women, against rapes, violence and murder and the government must act on this. This is a national issue and not a political one,” Amid slogans being raised against the government at the protest march, Saroori said the women of the country are afraid to go out today and the government must ensure their safety and help them live in peace.

Later a public darbar was also held in Sarthal area with an aim to hear and redress public grievances in far flung areas, Saroori held a grievance redressal camp at Karool area. Local residents raised problems pertaining to PMGSY and R&B Roads, inadequate staff in Education department, clearance of MGNREGA, IHHL, watershed payments, providing drinking water facility, installing of new transformers, clearance of compensation and many more alike.

Saroori asked the officers to address the issues at grass root level and assert themselves in resolving local issues of public importance. He particularly impressed upon rural development department to show keen interest in ensuring quality of developmental works in rural areas

ACD Kishtwar, Anil Chandaeil while addressing highlighted the role of Gram Sabhas in the development of rural areas and stressed on the people to take active part in the base level institutions for ensuring desired infrastructural development. He highlighted the ongoing schemes run by RDD department and assured the public that payment under MGNREGA and IHHL will be cleared in a time bound manner and schemes shall be implemented on fast track basis for development of the area

KISHTWAR, MAY 05: - Member of Legislative Assembly from Inderwal, Ghulam Mohamamd Saroori today visited the residence of IAS qualifier from Kishtwar, Abhishek Sharma and congratulated him for qualifying Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam.

Conveying his best wishes to Abhishek Sharma and other candidates from J&K who have qualified IAS, Saroori hoped that they will become role models and inspiration for many aspiring students tomorrow. He said that Abhishek Sharma have not only brought laurels to his family members, friends, Kishtwar district but to the whole state as well. He described the Abhishek Sharma success as encouraging and remarkable achievement on the part of him and said that the youth are highly talented and can do wonders provided they are given chance to perform and demonstrate their skills in any field.

Saroori hoped that the candidates will emulate their success while disseminating their official duties and providing succour to the people. He also congratulated all the candidates from other states of the country who qualified the exam.

Earlier former Sarpanch from Binoon Bunjwah, Mr. Ghulam Rasool Butt and retired SFC divisional manager Mr. Abdul Qayoom Butt joined Congress party in Inderwal constituency, saying it was the only party that can "steer" Jammu and Kashmir to peace and prosperity.

"Congress is the only party that can guarantee unity of Jammu and Kashmir and steer the state to peace, progress and prosperity," Mr. Ghulam Rasool Butt of Binoon Bunjwah said after joining the party at a function held in MLA Inderwal residence.

Welcoming Mr Ghulam Rasool Butt into the party fold, Mr. Saroori said Congress was a "mass movement" which has stood with the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh during their most testing times. The induction of public-spirited activists will strengthen the party at the grassroots level, he said. He urged Congress cadre to intensify their mass contact programme and highlight the problems faced by the people at the appropriate forums.

TAGOOD, MAY 03: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today condemn the stabbing of 11th class student to death after two groups clashed with each other in Billawar area of Kathua district in Jammu division and demanded stern action against the guilty persons involved in this henious murder.

Saroori who was addressing the workers at Tagood village of Tehsil Mugalmaidan and said that death of victim Liyakat Ali son of Munair Hussain is the outcome of hate politics carried by the BJP leader Chowdhary Lal Singh and Hindu Ekta Manch leaders who are running writ in Jammu, Kathua and Samba areas with PDP-BJP government gives free hand to them.

He said that today's Murder of 11th class student is an eye opener for the Mehbooba Mufti lead government who fails to reign in the brat BJP MLA Chowdhary Lal Singh and others who are actively and openly are promoting the divisive politics on the name of religious by provoking the youths. He said that instead of taking action against the Lal Singh and others, they are challenging the government by openly carrying out propaganda march on the name of so called CBI inquiry into the rape and murder of 8 year old girl in Rasana village of Kathua District. He said that expulsion of Lal Singh and Chander Prakash Ganga is merely eyewash added that the in action on part of the government speaks volumes about the patronaging of communal and divisive forces in the area threatening the long lasting peace in the area.

Saroori called for immediate arrest of Lal Singh and others so that confidence among the minorities living in Jammu region could be restored. He said that in case the government fails to reign in the brat BJP MLA and his supporters, the minorities will be left with no other option other than to hit roads. He said that accuse Abhishek Sharma and Honey Khajuria clearly seems to be influenced by the propaganda unleashed by few wasted interest against the minorities living in the area. He also express his solidarity with the brave family and prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased Liyakat Ali.

During the interaction with the public at Tagood village, people projected various demands and problems of their respective areas seeking an early redressal of the same. He listened to the grievances of people and assured for early redressal of the same. The issues which were brought to the notice of the Mr. Saroori pertained to improvement in the drinking water supply, blacktopping on Tagood road, electricity and other basic facilities.

Mr. Saroori also announced Rs. 4 crores for the blacktopping work on Dadpeth to Tagood road which were the long pending demands of the Tagood area. The work shall be executed by the R&B and PMGSY departments. He has also announced the construction of road for Boungam, Bazdevna and other inhabitations of the Tagood area under R&B department.

Annual function day of Madrasa Malanoo Kahara celebrated; inspected functioning of PHC Malanoo Kahara

MALANOO, MAY 02: - Thousands of religious scholars and students from all over the Kahara attended the annual function day of Madrasa Malanoo Kahara.

Several Muslim leaders and Ulema of the community including Mufti Shakeel Ur Rehman, Mufti Jamal Ud Din, Mufti Sher Ali, Imam Parvez Alam, addressed the rally and threw light on the Islamic ideology and teachings of Islam. They underscored the importance of Islamic teachings in present day world. They also stressed upon people to put in collective efforts for the eradication of social evils.

The Muslim scholars praise the efforts of madrasa committee, students, teachers and the local people and urged the youths said "follow the Sunnah in each and every aspect of their life. They also cautioned about the “evil design of RSS-controlled NDA government” at the centre. They said that the central government was trying to tamper with “Sharia” (Islamic Laws). “Let this be a warning for those trying to tamper with the Constitution, that people will not forgive them and their punishment will be reflected in the next general election,” they said.

While addressing the gathering, Ghulam Mohamamd Saroori (MLA Inderwal) said following of sunnah of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is only way to have peace and prosperity in this world and Hereafter. He urged the people present to equip their children with Islamic teaching also because the teaching enable them to become a good citizen. He urged the Muslims to shun their difference for the promotion of Islam.

Saroori said that Muslim personal laws were under attack since the BJP-led NDA government came to power. He warned that Muslims would not tolerate any more attacks on their personal laws and would continue to protest against it. “We waited for four years, expecting that BJP would learn to run the nation as per the constitution. But we were wrong, take for instance Muslim personal laws which are under attack. “We are compelled to inform our countrymen that Islam and our country is in danger under the present government at the centre.”

“Some people are playing with our religion and the Shariat to fulfil their political ambitions. By bringing the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill 2017, the government is interfering in our Shariat. We condemn it and demand that the government revoke the Bill and stop all types of interference in our laws,” Saroori said.

Saroori told the gathering that if they did not wake up now, “there will not be sufficient room and chance to perform later”. “There are numerous issues on RSS’ agenda which this government will attempt to execute. Following triple talaq, it will be Uniform Civil Code and also ban on Azaan through loudspeakers. There is a long list,” he said.

Earlier, Mr. Saroori visited PHC Malanoo to review its facilities. During the inspection of different sections of the hospital, MLA was briefed by the Medical Officer about the facilities available in the hospital

KISHTWAR, MAY 01: - Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice President, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori described the labour class as the “backbone of development and economic progress” of the country.

Saroori who was the chief guest in a function organised by Indian National Trade Union Congress here at Kishtwar in observance of the May Day. While speaking he said that the Congress was committed to the welfare and protecting rights of the labour class of the country. A large number of labour leaders of the organisation, affiliated to the Indian National Trade Union Congress, participated in the deliberations.

Saying that Congress has all along espoused the cause of labour class and strived for their welfare, Saroori recalled the crucial role played by labourers in shaping the public movement in India as elsewhere in the world decades ago. “Labour force are the builders of nation and catalyst of socio-economic transformation”,. He said Congress will always strive for seeking restoration of labour rights and implementation of welfare schemes to uplift their socio-economic conditions.

Saroori called for initiation of short and long term measures for economic emancipation and empowerment of the labour class with special focus on education of their children apart from health care. He also expressed grave concern over rising prices and said that this impacts directly the labour class and there is need to be earnestly looked into by the government. The issues interalia included enhancement of minimum wages, release of pending DA in public sector and private sector, release of arrears of 7th Pay Commission, pension benefits to the public sector employees, implementation of SRO-43 in public sector, regularization of daily wage employees/ casual workers/ consolidated employees /ITI diploma holders in PSU’s and government department, enhancement of budgetary support of to PSU’s, revival of sick/ loss incurring units, improvement /up-gradation of basic infrastructure of PSU’s, employment to local workers in private sectors, abolition of contract system in private sectors, un-authorized closing of units, setting up- non polluting as well as employment generating units, employment to locals in power projects, closure of polluting units and introduction of industries policy.

Others who addressed the gathering including Latief Hussain, Abdul Wahid Lone, Suhan Lal, Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Raj Badyal and others.

Mr. Saroori also visited Mugalmaidan and expressed shock, grief over the tragic fire incident in village Thal Mugalmaidan area of sub-division Chatroo in which one residential house of Haji Mohd Ibrahim was completely gutted in a devastating fire incident. He said that there is an immediate need of opening of well equipped fire service stations at tehsil level across the Chenab Valley. He urged government for early setting up of fire service stations at Chatroo, Mugalmaidan, Kahara Bhalessa, Bunjwah, Sarthal, Thakrie, Drabshalla, Warawan, Nagseni areas to cater the need of the people in the areas. He also met the victims and distributed relief among the sufferer and distributed rice, Tent, blankets, ration, and Rs 5000 monthly rent to the affected families till they are permanently rehabilitated.

Later, Mr. Saroori also attended the annual function day of Madrasa Dadpeth, Mugalmaidan. While speaking on the occasion he said Muslims are facing occupations, humiliation and unrest in the present dispensation PDP-BJP. He asked people why this is happening with us. “First of all we ourselves are responsible for this. We are not united. We have stopped following Quran and Sunnah. We have stopped gaining the knowledge. We are divided into sects and Nationalism. Secondly our enemies are also trying hard to make the things worse and worse for us by doing conspiracies. Muslim Ummah should be like one body. When one Muslim is in pain in one corner of the world the other in other corner should feel the pain and help him. Loving our country is natural but Nationalism should not overcome the Ummah. Islam is above country. We should also not be divided on basis of Sectarianism. Quran clearly teaches us to not be divided into sects. The solution to overcome sectarianism is following Quran and Sunnah”, Saroori added.
