Kupwara/Sopore, May 19: - In its bid to rejuvenate the party in Kashmir region, Vice President JKPCC G. M. Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) and Vice President JKPCC Haji Abdul Rashid Dar-(MLA Sopore) today kick started membership drive in Sopore and Kupwara area in North Kashmir.

On this occasion Congress Spokesperson Farooq Andrabi, General Secretary Shoaib Nabi Lone, General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi , District President Kupwara Haji Farooq Mir, Jasbir Kour, Raja Ji, Altaf Ahmed Malik, all Party functionaries of District Kupwara, Block President, Prominent Leaders and Workers were present on this occasion.

While addressing the large gathered Congress workers, Saroori called upon the party workers to put in their best efforts to ensure maximum membership from Kashmir region. He asked the Congress activists to instill a sense of cooperation among them while executing the exercise to add new members into the party fold.

He hoped that the workers would leave no stone unturned in ensuring highest numbers of new members from Jammu adding that the drive would further strengthen the party at grass root levels.

Saroori also condemns the attack on house of Congress leader from Cheyrar Sharief constituency, Zahid Jussain Jaan and has alleged that party leaders were not provided adequate security by the PDP-BJP dispensation despite attack on leader. The coalition government is answerable for the reported lack of security arrangements on the leader despite threat from the certain groups.

He also shows great concern over withdrawal of security cover to party leader, added that in case of any eventuality with Congress leaders in future, the coalition government will be responsible for the same. He said that government has failed in providing security cover to Congress leaders in JK and has brought into question the whole security issue.

Terming Congress Party a movement, Haji Rashid Dar in his address said that Congress Party is oldest political party with a history of 125 years in serving the people and the country no political party or front can compete with the Congress Party, as Congress Party has always worked for poor and down trodden people and it is all weather friend of the people. He said Congress party is a vibrant force in every nook and corner of the state and the membership drive which is being kicks off was a step towards further strengthening the party by way of involving young, dynamic and educated people, who are desirous to serve the society.

He hoped that this time too Congress leaders and workers will be able to enroll highest number of members throughout the Jammu and Kashmir state.

Farooq Andrabi, Shoaib Nabi Lone, Surinder Singh Channi, Haji Farooq Mir, Jasbir Kour, Raja Ji, Altaf Ahmed Malik and others also spokes on the occasion and exhorted upon the party workers to reach out to maximum number of people in every nook and corner of Kupwara and Sopore districts in order to get the drive to its optimum level.

The Congress leaders hoped that through the medium of membership drive the Congress party would get a new boost which in turn would help it to attain new heights.

Saroori condoles Naseema Begum’s Death

Srinagar, May 19: - Naseema Begum wife of Ghulam Nabi Ahanger a retired Account officer, passed away few days back at her residence Kanipura Naseem Abad, Nowgam Srinagar.

Vice President JKPCC Ghulam Mohammad Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul beside a place for her in a heaven. He has also expressed his heartfelt condolence and sympathy to the bereaved family.

He described the wife of Ghulam Nabi Ahanger as a noble soul and a nice human being who lived a pious life.

The deceased left with four sin Tasneem Maajid, Special Secretary Power development department J&K, Dr. Javeed, Dr. Shaheen and Dr. Firdous.

She was the sister in law of Executive Engineer R&B Kishtwar Baber Hussain Ahanger, Aunty of Tehsildar Thathri, Mosin Raza, Asgar Hussain Ahanger and sister of Retired Chief Engineer Khursheed Hussain, Dr. Yusuf and Dr. Nissar

Congress has scheduled a series of party conventions in Chenab Valley

 

Srinagar, May 21: - Congress has scheduled a series of party conventions in Chenab Valley, as part of mass contact programme, to have broader interactions with party workers at grass root level.

This was decided in a meeting between President J&K PCC Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Mir and Vice President J&K PCC Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Saroori here at summer capital Srinagar.

Other senior leaders of the party, Legislators, former legislators, Office bearers, Youth Congress, Sarpanchs, Panchs, workers, members shall attend these programmes to bring better coordination in the organizational setup.

"The party has started the process to activating the grass root cadre in order to gear up for a vibrant role of the party to take up the issues of the public in wake of an unholy alliance of BJP & PDP, ignoring the aspirations and issues of people", Saroori said.

As per scheduled, the district conventions will be held at Kishtwar on June 8th, Doda-June 9th and Ramban-June 10th.

Saroori condoles with Arun Singh Raju

Jammu, May 24: - Vice President J&K PCC, Mr. G. M. Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) has condoled the sad demise of Smt. Krishna Raju, wife of late Shri. P. N. Raju Former Minister and Grandmother of President district Congress Committee Ramban.

Saroori expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, conveyed his sympathy. He prayed to the Almighty Allah for blessing peace to the departed soul.

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear irreparable loss.

Saroori-(MLA Inderwal) today visited the resident of those who passed away recently in Kishtwar, Phigsoo and Thathri areas to personally condole the sad demises including Bashir Ahmed Gagroo resident of Kishtwar, Mohammad Sharief Tantaray resident of Khanpura Phigsoo, daughter of Shamas Din Butt resident of Thathri.

Mr. Saroori stayed with the bereaved families and expressed his sympathy and solidarity with them, offered fatiyah, consoled the family members and prayed to the Almighty Allah for eternal peace to the departed souls beside a place for them in heaven.

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear irreparable loss.

Saroori has also condoled the sad demise of Zahida Begum Wife of Javed Ahmed Malik resident of Malik Nar Chatroo, cousin sister of Firdous Ahmed Bhawani.

Saroori also met with various deputations here at Dak Bunglow Thathri and at his resident Kishtwar. The deputationist put forth various demands of the area before the MLA including scarcity of Ration, Water, MGNREGA payment and other day to day problems.

Saroori, while responding to these demands assured that general demands will be looked into for consideration and addressed gradually.

Inquiry ordered into fraudulent drawl of freight charges in JK

Saroori demanded salaries for the teachers

Jammu, April 01: - An inquiry has been ordered into the alleged fraudulent drawl of freight charges worth Rs 25 lakh for carriage of ration items to private depots in Kishtwar district of the state, Jammu and Kashmir government today said.

The Assistant Director CA&PD (Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution) department Kishtwar has been directed to conduct the detailed enquiry into the alleged fraudulent drawl of freight charges worth Rs 25 lakh for carriage of ration items to private sales depots at Thakrie (Pakalan) in Inderwal constituency, Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs Zulfikar Choudhary said in a written reply to a question of Congress member G M Saroori in Assembly.

He said the report of Assistant Director is still awaited.

Saroori on the floor of the assembly has demanded salaries for the teachers appointed under the centrally sponsored schemes–SSA and RAMSA.

He said due to the negligence of education and planning departments the teachers are without their salaries from last seven months, which has not only made the lives of these teachers miserable but has affected the normal academics at schools, as well.

Saroori said though the teachers have been making regular representations to the concerned authorities, but their appeals have not been able to yield the desired results, so for. He demanded immediate release of salaries.

He further demanded that staff for new administrative units created in Inderwal constituencies and a provision to increases IAY cases to 20 no per panchayat, timely formation of plans for all the schemes, enhancement of BRGF funding for rural areas.

Saroori demanded early completion of incomplete panchayat ghars in the state as 1788 Panchayat Ghars had taken in hand by the previous government besides enhancement of funds under CD and panchayats and implementation of sanction programme in all panchayats.

Saroori stage walkout from J&K Assembly over regularization of daily wagers

Expressed concern over the rising water level in Kashmir valley

Jammu, March 31: - Congress Member of legislative Assembly (MLA) from Inderwal, G. M. Saroori today staged a walkout in the Legislative Assembly over the issues of regularization daily wagers.

Saroori raised the issue of daily wagers and causal labourers in the Legislative Assembly. He disrupted the proceedings and said “the departments are utilizing their (daily wagers) services but not ready to regularize or pay them monthly wages and this is grave injustice with them”.

Amid ruckus, he was supported by other legislators, Saroori demanded regularisation of the daily wagers, casual labourers, Adhoc, SPO’s, HR workers and others. Later he staged a walkout.

Earlier, as the session began today, Saroori sought details about preparations of the government to counter the flood situation.

“I want the government to inform the House about the flood situation. The water has touched the danger mark,” said Congress MLA G.M Saroori. Later Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh responded saying that the government was not non-serious about the issue.

“Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed reached the valley yesterday to check the situation personally. Our ministerial team is also camping there and all necessary preparations are done to handle the situation,” Singh told the House.

While taking part in the discussion over the grants Revenue and Rehabilitation, Saroori said in Inderwal constituency over 1500 houses has been damaged and demanded compensation for the poor people who suffered losses due to weather furry.

He demanded early filling of staff for new administrative units created in Inderwal constituencies including at Sarthal, Thakrie, Kilhotran besides postings of Patwari’s, Girdawar’s, Naib Tehsildar’s and Tehsildar’s ion vacant posts.

“Drains in Thathri area are open and are threat to any kind of mishaps,” Saroori demanded that all funds to be provided for covering the drains with slab and for construction of shopping complex and bus stand at Thathri.

On Haj and Auqaf grants Saroori said that arounf 4000 kanals of Wakf land is under illegal occupation of various at Gandhi Nagar, Samba, Kathua, Akhnoor, Kishtwar, Doda. He demanded that Waqf land to be restored to the Waqf department to which it belongs.

“Government should give due attentions towards Ghulam Shah Badshah and Shah Asrar-Ud-Din Ziyarat & Ziarat Shah Farid-Ud-Din Kishtwar,” Saroori demanded.

While taking part in Power department grants, Saroori said that as the Central government’s have refuse to return power projects to the state is a great setback for the state, he said Government should press the GOI for transferring the two vital power projects including Dul Hasti and Uri to J&K state.

Saroori demanded immediate start of construction of several power projects including Keru, Pacal Dul, Kwar, Karthi and Rattle on river Chenab which will be sure to create a remarkable dent towards the realization of self reliance dream. He urged the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to personally intervene and ensure that the central agencies working in road, railway and power sectors in the state ensure priority of employment to the local youth.

He further demanded construction of four lanes from Sudmahadev to Doda- Kishtwar to Kashmir via Singpora-Vailoo tunnel besides construction of Air strip at Kishtwar which is the need of the hour.

“As many as twelve transformers have been gutted at various places including Kencha, Manoi, Gugara, Trankhal, Chatroo, Keshwan, Karool Sarthal etc in Inderwal constituency while the Power Development Department was not replacing the same,” Saroori said and demanded early replacements of these transformers besides opening of workshops at Thathri and Chatroo.

Saroori said that the Chowdhary Power projects is generating 15 MW but the government is buying only 6 MW out of 15MW, he urged government that PDC should buy all the MW’s from this power projects so that people won’t face any hardship in this regard and there will be no un schedule electric cut in district Kishtwar and Doda besides demanded rescinding of the electricity bill in favour of BPL families from Rs 360 to 108.

While taking part in discussion of Home department, Law and Parliamentary grants, Saroori said that it takes six months in clearance of a file in Civil Secretariat and demanded that recruitment in police be made in Inderwal Constituency. He urged the Government to fulfill the promise of giving a job to one member of every family.

Saroori alleged that Information Department has become defunct in Doda and Kishtwar districts and demanded that the SPOs wages be raised to Rs 15000 per month.

He also alleged that Article 370 has been eroded right from the time of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah till date.

Saroori said there has been embezzlement in purchase of cars for ministers and officers. The government should buy Scorpios for MLAs. They should be given laptops.”

Saroori’s remarks received applause from other MLAs, including those in treasury benches, who thumped benches. He sought a discretionary amount of Rs 1 lakh at the disposal of every MLA on the pattern of Cabinet ministers and their deputies besides enhancement of CDF from Rs 1.5 crores to Rs 3 crores.

Later Minister for Law and Parliamentary announced the constitution of a five-member committee to work out the modalities for enhancing the constituency development fund amount.
