Saroori stressed for upgradation and improvements in J&K Minerals, SIDCO, SICOP and J&K Cement Limited
Srinagar, July 08: - A meeting of the Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of MLA Mr. G. M. Saroori here today.
Threadbare discussion was held on the working of the J&K Minerals, SIDCO, SICOP and J&K Cement Limited.
Legislators, Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Mr. Mohammad Yasin Shah, Mr. A. R. Veeri, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Jan, Mr. Nizamu-u-Din Bhat and Syeed Asgar Ali attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions for further improvement in making these corporations viable and result oriented.
The Committee stressed for upgradation and improvements in J&K Minerals, SIDCO, SICOP and J&K Cement Limited so that these can prove beneficial for the general public as well as the workers working in these Corporations. It also asked them to improve qualitatively.
Earlier, the Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce (I&C) Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai briefed the Committee about the achievements and activities of these Corporations through a power point presentation. He informed that J&K Minerals Limited has earned income of Rs.24.87 crore, out of which Rs.20.92 crore has been expended with surplus of Rs.3.95 crore during the year 2014-15 so far.
Among others, Accountant General, J&K, Mr. Khalid Jamal, Secretary, Legislative Assembly Mr. M. Ramzan, Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Mr. Altaf Hussain, Special Secretary , I & C Mrs. Dilshad Khan, Director Finance, I & C Mr. Mohammad Yaqoob Itoo, Director, JK Entrepreneurs Development Institute (EDI) Mr. M. I Parray, Managing Director, J&K Minerals Mr. Anal Kumar Gupta, Managing Director, SICOP Mr. R. L. Tickoo, Managing Director, J&K Cement Limited Mr. Rakesh, Managing Director, SIDCO Mr. Vikram Gupta, Director Geology and Mining Mr. F. A. Khan, Managing Director, Handicrafts Mr. I. H. Drabu and other officers of I & C, J&K Minerals, SIDCO, SICOP and J&K Cement Limited besides senior officers of Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.
