PUC visits Chenab Valley, inspects power, developmental projects, interacts with locals

Complete mettling & shingling on Dunadi-Bunjwah road; stressed for employing the local in various Hydel Power Projects

Kishtwar, July 13: - The Public Undertakings Committee (PUC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly headed by its Chairman, Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, which is on the tour of Kishtwar and Doda Districts, today visited Kishtwar, Hasti, Drabshallah, Bunjwah to inspected various units of the mega power project and sought information about the generation scenario.

Public Undertakings Committee (PUC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today inspected for power projects whoch includes 390 Dul Hasti HEP, 850MW Rattle Power Project, 48MW Lower Kaalnai HEP and 15 MW Choudhary power project.

People of Kalnai Loopa complaint about the compensation not being paid to them, Mr. Saroori gave on spot instructions to the DDC Doda to address these problems in a time bound manner and ensure speedy disposal of all the matters beside directed the concerned officers to change the road alignment of the said road so that the affected people won’t face hardship in future time.

He also said that all the submerged affected areas need immediate attention so that the further erosion of land and loss of property could be minimized.

Mr. Saroori asked the Management heads, General Managers of the projects to initiate focused measures so that local people get benefitted from the Dul Hasti, Rattle Power Project, Lower Kaalnai HEP and Chowdhary project and enjoined upon the concerned officers for undertaking Local Area Development on priority.

He also stressed for employing the local skilled/unskilled workers at suitable posts in various Hydel Power Projects and other ventures so that benefits of these projects percolate to the poor people of the area.

Mr. Saroori asked the JKPCC department to complete earth work, mettling and shingling on 13 KM long Dunadi-Bunjwah road within a month times and stressed to complete 132 KV electric lines from Thathri-Gondoh-Kilhotran. Chairman PUC asked Mr. Kakroo to immediately take firm steps about 15 MW Chowdhary Power Project as at present only 5 MW is the utility from the project, he asked to utilize all the power of the said project, so that people of the area will be benefited with this power project.

He said the main aim of the Public Undertakings Committee (PUC) was to guard the interest of the people and state and to ascertain whether the public money was being judiciously utilized on the ground. He sought detailed information about the various stages of the projects.

Mr. Saroori along with the committee Members and officials also inspected the Dam Sites, Power Houses and Tunnels of all the 4 projects.

Later, Managing Director, JKSPDC, Mr. Mehraj Kakroo briefed the members of committee about all four power projects and said out of 390 MW, only 262 MW is being generating from Dul Hasti power project and till date only 52 days the project remained closed due to some technical faults in the Turbine, he also brief about 15 MW Choudhary project and said that with the higher officials of JKSPC concrete solution will be taken for this project.

Mr. Kakroo also assured the PUC committee that Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Patnazi Project will be completed in a time bond period and ensure completion of Rattle Project and other under execution projects in times.

The members of the Committee including Legislators, Mohammad Sharief Niaz, Charanjit Singh, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Syed Asgar Ali, and Sham Lal Bhagat, MD JKSPDC, Mr. Mehraj Ahmed Kakroo, DDC Doda Mubarak Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda Imam Din, ALC Kishtwar Zakir Hussain Wani, Executive Engineers of NHPC, General Managers of Power projects, Senior officials from JKSPC, NHPC, district and sectoral officers also accompanied the Committee Chairman PUC Mr. G M Saroori.
