Assembly election: Saroori
Jammu March 13: In order to show the
concern and anger towards the Election Commission of India decision and
Governor's Administration for their failure towards addressing the plights
faced by people of Chenab valley due to recent snow furry and continue
prevailing bad weather conditions, a strong Protest was lodged by the Congress
leaders of Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban Districts under the leadership of former
Minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori who also happens to be the Vice President
JKPCC and member Election campaign Committee JK outside Press Club Jammu.
Shri. Naresh Gupta MLC also
accompanied Saroori beside several other senior party functionaries were also
present who raise their voices against discriminatory attitude adopted by
the Governor Administrator towards Chenab valley.

Saroori alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wanted to enjoy power in
Jammu and Kashmir through bureaucracy and did not want to lose it by holding
Assembly elections. After the Lok Sabha election announcement made by the
Election Commission of India (ECI) announced, GM Saroori, vice-president, Jammu
Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, while speaking, said the BJP had
deliberately deferred the Assembly elections.
“The Union Home Minister promised on
the floor of Parliament that security will be provided to each and every
candidate and sufficient forces were available in the state. But now, the ECI
is saying it does not have sufficient number of men to provide security to all
candidates and cannot not hold joint elections,” Saroori said.
“I think the BJP has deliberately
deferred the Assembly poll as it is enjoying power through bureaucracy in Jammu
and Kashmir,” he said and alleged the BJP had always played divisive politics
and after Ram Mandir, they came up with the issue of soldiers. He said all
assurances of the BJP government in the Centre were a big lie to the people of
Jammu and Kashmir as payments for most of the centrally sponsored schemes were
pending since the past two years.
Mr. Saroori also said that wages to
thousands of job card holders under MGNREGA have not been paid from 2016-17,
2017-18 & till date added that no funds under Swatch Bharat, IHHL payment @
Rs.12000 per house is pending for the last two years. He said that Payment
under PMAY is nowhere, Hundred of residential houses have been damaged
and more than 60% orchards have suffered losses due to recent heavy snow fall
experienced recently in the entire region, all main and link roads have
suffered extensive damage, yet electric supply has not been restored since last
more than one month.
He also demanded immediate release of
payments under all head to the beneficiary and loss caused in
the entire region be declared as Disaster beside concern departments
should be asked to assess the losses immediately and process for payment of
relief be made along with free ration for six months be provided to the
suffers.
Congress leaders said that Election
Commission must review his decision of not holding the Assembly elections in
Jammu and Kashmir while at the same time should release the dates of Election
schedule for the state so that democratically elected government could be
installed. Congress leaders accuses Governor Administration off enjoy the
power at the cost of denying democratic rights to the people of Jammu and
Kashmir
