Congress past
successive government provided relief and free ration to the affected people
Urged Governor JK and
his administration to provide sucker to the people during present difficult
times
Kishtwar, March 20:
Jammu and Kashmir Campaign & Election Management Committee, Member and
Former Minister, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today demanded three month free ration
for snow bound areas of Chenab valley viz Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban Districts.
Mr. Saroori in a
statement said that due to heavy snowfall in last two months, the agriculture,
horticulture and other biannual crops suffered massive damages. He said that
several houses and Shelters of poor people living in remote areas also got
damaged and required immediate relief and compensation.
He has urged upon the
government to order issuance of three month free ration to the people of Chenab
valley as per the past practice wherein successive Congress governments provide
relief to the people who suffered losses to agriculture, horticulture, live
stokes due to drought of adverse weather condition like snow tsunami, floods
added that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi along with the then Prime Minister Dr.
Manmohan Singh personally visited the snowbound areas of Kashmir, Bhaderwah and
even Marwah following massive snowfall in 2005.
Mr. Saroori called
upon the government to constitute teams for assessment of losses suffered by
the people in terms of agriculture, horticulture, biannual crops &
livestock. He has further urged upon Governor J&K Satya Pal Malik and his
administration to provide sucker to the people during present difficult times.
