BJP seeking votes through false propaganda: Congress



No central government has the power to revoke article 370: Saroori
 

Chatroo (Kishtwar), 29 March: - Congress campaigning committee on Saturday concluded the campaigning on three constituencies including Bhaderwah, Kishtwar and Inderwal. They addressed 30 rallies and more than 70 meetings.
 

The members including Congress MLA from Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, MLA Bhaderwal Mohammed Sharief Niaz, MLC Naresh Gupta, Advocate Aslam Goni and Congress Leader from Doda Sheikh Mujeeb today addressed 3 mammoth rallies in Inderwal constituency including Thakrie, Mugalmaidan and Chatroo, in which more than 10,000 people from Mugalmaidan, Chatroo, Chingam, Sigdi, Kuchal and its adjoining areas had gathered at the rally venue to listen to the members.
 

While addressing MLA Inderwal, G. M. Saroori accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of "trying to get votes through false propaganda". "The BJP leaders say one thing in their closed doors meetings and another in public meetings”.
 

"They (the BJP leaders) are talking of revoking article 370 of the Constitution, but no central government has the power to revoke this article," Saroori added.
 

Saroori urged the people to rise above caste and religion based politics and vote for the Congress. Keeping in view the existing development works carried out by the UPA-I and UPA-II, it becomes a matter of pride and gain, to vote and support Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is the only suitable candidate to safeguard our interest in the parliament.
 

Congress leader appealed to the large gathering at various places during the full day road show in Inderwal Constituency, to come in large number along with their families to caste vote in favour of Ghulam Nabi Azad and make him victorious in the ensuing elections.
 

In his address MLA Bhaderwah Mohammed Sharied Niaz asked the electoral not to waste their time elsewhere and vote for the Congress nominees Ghulam Nabi Azad to help the party march ahead on the path of development. "The future is safe in the strong hands of Rahul Gandhi who is sure to become the prime minister,"
 

In their address MLC Naresh Gupta, Advocate Aslam Goni, Sheikh Mujeeb and others also spoke on the occasion and termed UPA led government an ideal situation for Jammu and Kashmir and said that the BJP led government at the Centre will not be in the interests of the country.
 

They appealed all to support Azad by pressing hand button on EVMs on 17th April.

Paddar (Kishtwar), 28 March: - Congress party today said Ghulam Nabi Azad has always worked on the policy of development and he will continue to follow it in Jammu and Kashmir and appealed all the Congress workers to stay united and start campaigning to ensure huge victory for the Ghulam Nabi Azad from Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Parliamentary Constituency.

In a series of meetings at Padherna, Nagseni, Gulab Garah, Atholi, Paddar and Kajhai addressed by Minister R&B Abdul Majid Wani, Senior Congress Leaders and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, MLA Bhaderwah Mohammed Sharief Niaz, MLC Naresh Gupta, Advocate Aslam Goni and Congress Leader Sheikh Mujeeb highlighted the achievements of Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad and UPA Government at Centre under the competent leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.

Congress leaders said that it is the first time in the history of Jammu & Kashmir that Ghulam Nabi Azad has given its due share to Jammu Region and the area has seen the light of many new projects related to Tourism, Education, Heath, Sanitation, Road Connectivity etc like last year Azad had announced upgradation of Primary Health Centre at Gulabgarh from 4 beds to 25 beds and sub-centre at Maksoo up to 10 beds. Beside Azad had on the demand of the people also announced opening of six new sub-centres in Padder block of the Kishtwar district in order to provide healthcare facilities to the people of the remote areas at their door-steps.

Leaders also said that Mr Azad had sanctioned three new tourism circuits for the Chenab valley region—Doda-Lal Draman at the cost of Rs 5 crore, Bhaderwah-Bhalesa at a cost of Rs 8 crore and Kishtwar-Machail at cost of Rs 8 crore. They said as the people are now realizing that the development of the children and youth are possible only under in the regime of Congress.

Cautioning the people against the propaganda unleashed by the disruptive forces like BJP and PDP against the Congress, the Members of Congress campaigning committee said that these unscrupulous forces appear at a particular season (during election) and try to spread false rumors inciting the sentiments of innocent people in the name of religion, caste, creed and color. This has been proved in the past when the BJP was in power for small stints. They failed in all fronts, the cadres of party frustrated and launched communal frenzies at many places in the country.

During these meetings Saroori also appealed the people particularly youth and women to caste vote in Azad's favour and press hand button on EVMs on 17th April 2014 and assured the general public that Azad sahib will lay no stone unturned in serving Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Udhampur and Kathua Districts.

While addressing the high level Congress meetings at Kishtwar and Palmar, Wani said that Congress is the only party which can provide strong and result oriented Government the centre by cementing ties with its secular allies which congress proved by ruling this country successfully for two terms and achieved handsome growth rate and a sizeable population was alleviated from poverty line.

BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narinder Modi’s credentials bar him to rule the country because his role during Gujarat riots has shaken the country and no prudent person will ever forget unprecedented violence that put at stake the secular credentials of the country, Wani added.

In his address Saroori said Modi coming to power at the Centre would be "harmful" for the country. “There is no Modi wave. It is mere propaganda,” he said, adding the Congress would emerge victorious in the general elections. “Congress has a history behind it and is working towards better future of the people. We believe in work while the other parties were just making announcements,’’

“We are waiting since the announcement of elections that when Mr Azad will come and contest polls. But now he is here and contesting election. We don’t want him to spare maximum time here as he has many more party responsibilities to campaign for other party candidates in rest of the country. But one thing, we will ensure Azad Sahib that, Doda-Udhampur seat will be won by a record margin and victory of Azad is written on the wall,” Saroori said.

While addressing MLA Bhaderwah M S Niaz said Congress has always played a vital role in Jammu and Kashmir and taken care of the aspirations of the each region of the State.
He appealed the workers of Congress to gear up for ensuring victory of son of the soil Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Country has witnessed tremendous development under UPA regime: Saroori

Gondoh, 26 March: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today while addressing a well gathered political rally at Gondoh and Changa said that the country has witnessed tremendous development in all spheres of life under UPA regime in the past 10 years including in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He cautioned the people against malicious campaign launched against UPA Government. He said that there was a need for strengthening parties like Congress at national level to encouraging democratic and secular forces.

He said that congress is the only secular face of country which has great history of religious brotherhood and social equality and it is the congress party which turns the dreams common men in reality food security bill, Land acquisition bill, MGNREGS and various other flag ship programmes and schemes are the major achievements of party.

Saroori said that Azad’s tenure as Chief Minister and Union Health Minister was the golden period for J&K state and several historical decision and development projects were taken into hands during Azad’s tenure.

In his address Mohammad Sharief Niaz seeks votes for Congress candidate, G. N. Azad.  He said that it is because of strong economic policies of Congress that our country steered clear out of worst ever recession in the world. He said that Congress has always played a major role in unity and integrity of the State and the country.

Niaz urged the people to reject such forces who create hatred and division among people for their narrow political interests and vote for secular and progressive parties like Congress in order to safeguard the interests of state and the nation.

Saroori review post snowfall situation in Inderwal





Urged the administration to redouble efforts in reaching out to people affected by heavy snowfall


Directed to assess the damages caused to livestock and property in Inderwal Constituency


Chatroo (Kishtwar), 22 March: - To review post snow fall situation in Inderwal Assembly Constituency, Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today visited Chatroo, Chingam, Kandani, Drabshallah, Thathri, Premnagar areas and took stock of the problems caused due to heavy snowfall.


During the visit, a number of deputations and individuals met him and apprised about the problems being faced by the locals. They complained about non availability of essential commodities like sugar, kerosene oil and rice, drinking water and electricity in snow bound areas.


People also apprised the MLA Saroori that electricity in the remote areas including Chatroo, Chingam, Sigdi, Thakrie, Kishtwar, Sarthal, Saroor, Bunjwah, Khara, Bhalessa, Thathri remains cut off as the concerned authorities not fallowed proper curtailment schedule beside informed him that major link roads have been blocked due to landslide which has multiplied the problems of the people living in these areas.


Saroori urged the administration to redouble efforts in reaching out to people affected by heavy snowfall in the snow affected area of Inderwal Constituency.


He was informed by the officers that 80 percent to 90 percent power supply has been restored in most of the areas barring a few where severe damage has caused to the installations. The men and machinery is in full swing to restore the damaged towers and transformers to ensure supply of electricity beside apprised Saroori was informed that 80 per cent roads had been cleared of snow while labourers were engaged in clearing the remaining link and interior roads.


It was stated that most of these have been restored and restoration work on the rest is on fast track.

Saroori urged the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu and Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar and Doda to monitor the situation regularly and sensitize the concerned to be prompt and responsive to the needs of people.


He directed Tehsildar Kishtwar, Chatroo, Thathri and Bhalessa to assess the damages caused to livestock and property due to the untimely snowfall and incessant rains and submit to the concerned Deputy Commissioner so that state government to provide some relief to the sufferers.


Saroori assured the people all their demands will be brought in the notice of concerned authorities for immediate redressal.


Later Saroori along with BMO Chatroo visited PHC Chatroo and also enquired about the status of many patients admitted in PHC Chatroo and directed the Doctors to extend best medicare to them for their early recovery.

Congress welcome Azad’s candidature for Udhampur-Kathua seat.


Jammu, 20 March: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori on Thursday welcomed Indian National Congress (INC’s) move to nominate Ghulam Nabi Azad from Udhampur-Kathua constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Saroori said: "A welcome and much-needed step has been taken by the party. Personally, I feel we needed a person who can advocate the cause of this backward and hilly area whether; it is in respect of development, power projects, special package for Earthquake victims, improving the conditions of border farmers or the industry here and tunnels which will shorten the distance to Valley.

“By the stature of Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, it will be called a historical win,” Saroori remarked. He said that as far as Udhampur-Kathua seat is concerned, Congress party is very confident and it will be a comfortable victory and we will give a befitting reply to the communal forces,” he said, adding that there is no Modi wave in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Azad has been in the Parliament for a very long time. Whatever he says will be considered as a government decision as he is one of the top five leaders from the Congress in present times. If the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) forms a government at the Centre, which would happen in all likelihood, and then this will be a positive decision favouring Doda, Saroori said.

Saroori said that Azad is very dynamic and honest leader and the people of whole 17 constituencies from Udhampur-Kathua seat have great faith in his work culture. He also said high command have taken this right decision at right time.

JK Congress greets people on Nauroz-e-Alam



Jammu, 20 March: - Congress today has greeted the Jammu and Kashmir people on the auspicious occasion of Nauroz.

In a jointly message of felicitations by President JKPCC Prof Saif Ud Din Soz, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori all party cadres, District Presidents, Block presidents observed that the festival has both cultural and religious significance.

They said that this important day 21st March is also observed as World Arbour Day, adding that one and all should join hands in planting the maximum number of trees for preserving the environment.

They hoped that this auspicious day would be the harbinger of sustained peace, progress and prosperity in the State.

Saroori asks party cadres to gear up for 2014 LS, J-K assembly polls

Congress to field Azad from Udhampur


Thathri (Doda), 20 March: - Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Prof Saifudin Soz on Wednesday said that the list of candidates for Jammu-Udhampur and Ladakh, the three Lok Sabha seats has been finalized and the party is waiting for a final call to be taken by its president Sonia Gandhi.


In a meeting with party carders from Inderwal in which G M Saroori, Congress senior leader and MLA Inderwal said that Ghulam Nabi Azad’s name has been finalized for Udhampur Lok Sabah seat after hectic deliberations on Tuesday evening. 


He said that Madan Lal Sharma’s candidature has been declared from Jammu Lok Sabha seat and he has submitted his nomination papers on 20th March at 2:30 pm.


“Azad sahib’s and Mr Sharma’s names have been declared by the Congress high command. People here in Jammu province have already welcomed the party decision.


Fire crackers were set off at Thatri, Kishtwar, Bhallessa, Bunjwah, Chatroo and other adjoining places besides that sweets were distributed in Udhampur, Kathua and Reasi by people irrespective of with which religion they belong to,” Saroori described the scene.  

He said that the party is still indecisive about Ladakh parliamentary seat and no official or unofficial announcement has been made in that regard.


Saroori who is also the member of Congress campaigning committee in the Jammu province further asked the party cadres to brace themselves up for 2014 Lok Sabha and state assembly elections.


“You should keep this enthusiasm and feeling alive because now the time for the test is coming. This is the last few months to make this party strong as 2014 is the election year…first the Parliamentary elections, then the J-K assembly elections,” Saroori said addressing workers at the party headquarters Thathri.


Saroori said the party needs to be ready for the elections to ensure success and take the state forward. “We have to make our party ready so that we win the next elections with good success and take this state forward,” Saroori told workers.


“You will see Congress party in a new face, with new enthusiasm… a new life will be enthused into the party and new activities will take place which will benefit the party workers,” he said. 


Saroori said more efforts will be made to address the aspirations of party workers, adding local leaders should also take the workers into confidence before any work is done.

Saroori reviews post-snowfall situation in Inderwal

Saroori asked the administration to ensure early restoration of essential supplies

Kishtwar, 19 March: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Wednesday took stock of the situation in Inderwal constituency after the recent snowfall.

Saroori visited various villages to get first-hand account of the problems faced by the people. The MLA toured Dadpeth, Mugalmaidan, Kuriya villages to review availability of essential commodities and restoration of essential supplies.

People from Loidhar, Tagood, Mulchitter, Sigdi, Bhata, Balana, Rahalthal, Kuchal, Durbeel, Hurna, Pahalwar, Bunda and Parna also meet Saroori and projected their local demands before the MLA Saroori. People highlighted various demands for consideration and immediate redressal before MLA.

Saroori was informed by the people enroute about their problems faced by them on account of power failure, water and ration scarcity.

He enquired about the post-snowfall situation. He asked the officers to take all measures to ensure that people did not suffer on account of disruption in supplies. He issued instructions to immediate clearance of snow on the link roads for convenience of the people of the area. He asked the administration to ensure early restoration of essential supplies including power and water supply in the snow hit areas beside issued direction to GREF authority to clear all landslides in the area.

Saroori during the tour also took stock of the supply of essential commodities and directed CA&PD to ensure supply and distribution of ration to the consumers in time. He also directed for keeping close eye on the markets so that unscrupulous elements do not exploit situation and create scarcity of essentials to highjack prices.

He passed on the spot directions to PDD to restore power supply on war-footing basis so that people won’t face any inconvenience in the area.
