Saroori review post snowfall situation in Inderwal





Urged the administration to redouble efforts in reaching out to people affected by heavy snowfall


Directed to assess the damages caused to livestock and property in Inderwal Constituency


Chatroo (Kishtwar), 22 March: - To review post snow fall situation in Inderwal Assembly Constituency, Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today visited Chatroo, Chingam, Kandani, Drabshallah, Thathri, Premnagar areas and took stock of the problems caused due to heavy snowfall.


During the visit, a number of deputations and individuals met him and apprised about the problems being faced by the locals. They complained about non availability of essential commodities like sugar, kerosene oil and rice, drinking water and electricity in snow bound areas.


People also apprised the MLA Saroori that electricity in the remote areas including Chatroo, Chingam, Sigdi, Thakrie, Kishtwar, Sarthal, Saroor, Bunjwah, Khara, Bhalessa, Thathri remains cut off as the concerned authorities not fallowed proper curtailment schedule beside informed him that major link roads have been blocked due to landslide which has multiplied the problems of the people living in these areas.


Saroori urged the administration to redouble efforts in reaching out to people affected by heavy snowfall in the snow affected area of Inderwal Constituency.


He was informed by the officers that 80 percent to 90 percent power supply has been restored in most of the areas barring a few where severe damage has caused to the installations. The men and machinery is in full swing to restore the damaged towers and transformers to ensure supply of electricity beside apprised Saroori was informed that 80 per cent roads had been cleared of snow while labourers were engaged in clearing the remaining link and interior roads.


It was stated that most of these have been restored and restoration work on the rest is on fast track.

Saroori urged the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu and Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar and Doda to monitor the situation regularly and sensitize the concerned to be prompt and responsive to the needs of people.


He directed Tehsildar Kishtwar, Chatroo, Thathri and Bhalessa to assess the damages caused to livestock and property due to the untimely snowfall and incessant rains and submit to the concerned Deputy Commissioner so that state government to provide some relief to the sufferers.


Saroori assured the people all their demands will be brought in the notice of concerned authorities for immediate redressal.


Later Saroori along with BMO Chatroo visited PHC Chatroo and also enquired about the status of many patients admitted in PHC Chatroo and directed the Doctors to extend best medicare to them for their early recovery.
