Congress welcome Azad’s candidature for Udhampur-Kathua seat.

Jammu, 20 March: - Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori on Thursday welcomed Indian National Congress (INC’s) move to nominate Ghulam Nabi Azad from Udhampur-Kathua constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Saroori said: "A welcome and much-needed step has been taken by the party. Personally, I feel we needed a person who can advocate the cause of this backward and hilly area whether; it is in respect of development, power projects, special package for Earthquake victims, improving the conditions of border farmers or the industry here and tunnels which will shorten the distance to Valley.

“By the stature of Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, it will be called a historical win,” Saroori remarked. He said that as far as Udhampur-Kathua seat is concerned, Congress party is very confident and it will be a comfortable victory and we will give a befitting reply to the communal forces,” he said, adding that there is no Modi wave in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Azad has been in the Parliament for a very long time. Whatever he says will be considered as a government decision as he is one of the top five leaders from the Congress in present times. If the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) forms a government at the Centre, which would happen in all likelihood, and then this will be a positive decision favouring Doda, Saroori said.

Saroori said that Azad is very dynamic and honest leader and the people of whole 17 constituencies from Udhampur-Kathua seat have great faith in his work culture. He also said high command have taken this right decision at right time.
