Construct community halls for providing temporary shelter to the affected people in flood affected areas
Jammu, October 16: - Senior Congress leader J&K and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori on Thursday said that ceasefire violation across Line of Control (LOC) is happening quite frequently and it is unfortunate.
Saroori accused the central government of "failing" to respond adequately to ceasefire violations by Pakistan and also for making false promises in terms of relief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir from frequent firings on border.
He said that Congress party is concerned by reports of shelling across LOC and said that “many of our Jawans, civilians, villagers and even animals are being killed daily by heavy mortar shelling and firing from across the international border and Line of Control in Jammu and Poonch sectors and over 100 ceasefire violations on LOC had taken place since BJP came to power.”
Saroori urged the state and central governments to make an immediate decision to redress the long pending demand of border residents. He further demanded that the ex-gratia relief should be provided to the affected people immediately, besides free and best medical treatment to the border firing people.
“Construct community halls in flood-ravaged areas in Jammu and Kashmir for providing temporary shelter to the affected people which Ghulam Nabi Azad as Union Urban Development Minister has constructed in earthquake hit areas in 2005”, Saroori demanded and added that Government should start the construction on these community halls at an earliest so that before the onset of winter flood-survivors can concentrate on reconstruction of their houses and it will help to save the people from winter chill, cold bites and deaths.
Saroori also stressed upon the Government to speed up the rehabilitation work of flood affected people in the state and complete it in a time bound manner so that Assembly Elections are held at earliest here without any inordinate delay. While expressing his serious concern over the fact that present Central Government is not seriously tackling the situation in the J&K as was done by the UPA Government during 2005 earthquake in Tangmarg, Uri and also flood hit in Ladakh.
Congress leaders including G. M. Saroori, Janak Raj Gupta, B. R. Kundal, Yogesh Sawhney, Subash Gupta, Gulzar Qureshi, Rakesh Gupta, S. S. Salathia, Darshan Lal Raina, P. R. Manhas, Anil Chopra, and 100’s of people received Ghulam Nabi Azad at Jammu airport who today visited Samba area for distributing relief among the border victims.
They have thanked Ghulam Nabi Azad for taking keen interest in helping the border victims and also for touring the badly affected border areas to see the ground situation personally.
Congress party has also urged upon the governments to take immediate necessary steps for providing every kind of relief to the dislocated people in Jammu and Poonch areas which are mostly hit by ceasefire violation.
