Saroori demanded maintenance of road from Chenani to Nashri by BRO, ex-gratia to fire victims of Kishtwar

Jammu:- Legislators from erstwhile district Doda including MLA Inderwal, G. M. Saroori, MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, MLA, Ramban, Ashok Dogra and MLC, Naresh Kumar Gupta have demanded that NH1A from Chenani to Nashri should be maintained and looked after by Border Roads Organization (BRO) as was done previously.

In a joint statement, the legislators have demanded that the restoration work on the road track should be started as soon as possible for the convenience of the passengers travelling on the Highway. They said that the BRO is better equipped to look after the maintenance and the repair of the road, as they have best machinery and adequate man power. The legislators also maintained that due to dilapidated condition of road, at times it becomes very slippery posing a potential threat to the people travelling on this road. They further maintained that the duration of the travel also gets increased resulting in loss of precious time of passengers.

The transportation of ration to the various hilly and far-flung areas also gets hampered due adverse condition of the road, the Legislators asserted. They also demanded grant of 3 months free ration to the people of the affected areas of erstwhile district Doda and also ensuring availability of essentials like ration, LPG, K-Oil and medicines.

The Legislators also expressed grief and sorrow over the devastating fire incident at Ligri, Paddar in Kishtwar in which four persons, including a minor girl, were charred to death. They also demanded adequate ex-gratia relief to the affected families.
