Saroori demands early relief for snow bound areas of Doda District



Jammu: MLA Inderwal G M Saroori has expressed grave concern over the inhospitable conditions in the parts of Erstwhile District Doda in the backdrop of heavy snow fall experienced in the area.

Saroori said the power, water and essential commodity supply has snapped to major areas of the districts putting the people of the area to lot of inconvenience. He said the National Highway II has been open after four days from the rest of the state but still internal link roads are blocked due to landslides. He said closure of roads has led to acute shortage of LPG, K.Oil, ration, while hundreds of passengers of the erstwhile Doda district are stranded at Jammu Batote, Assar on enroute to Batote Kishtiwar.

Saroori thanks to Chief Minister who himself had taken stock of the situation in the affected areas and make efforts to restore supplies of water electricity ration, gas and fire wood.

Saroori appreciated BRO and Executive Engineer Gondoh who work hard and open the road within 24hrs from Thatri to Gondoh. Saroori also called for early start of road restoration work and arrangements by BRO for lifting the stranded passengers from various places. Besides to assess the losses to the houses as well as fruit bearing trees.
Saroori also demanded air service for effected areas of Erstwhile District Doda with immediate effect and opening of more LPG gas outlet where ever there is shortage of LPG. He said opening of more LPG outlets in Doda and Kishtwar District will help the people in long way particularly in case the road link get snapped as was the case today.
