Jammu;- Reacting a sensitive issue raised by me in the Legislative Assembly regarding the loss of life and property due to heavy snowfall and avalanches in Erstwhile Doda District, and the Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone directed the Government to take immediate measures to provide relief to the next of kin those killed and compensation to the other affected people.
I thanked the Union Government for providing liberal financial assistance to the state for its development.
I also urged the need for construction of Singhpora-Sintham tunnel which will serve a better alternate highway from Jamm to Srinagar. I demanded release of Rs 100 crore earmarked in the current year’s Budget for extremely bad pockets of the State, adding that Finance Commission and Bloeria Commission have also declared entire erstwhile Doda district as Backward area.
I also urged the need for expeditious completion of the 3-tier Panchayati Raj System in the state so that Rs 700 crore aid, from the Centre, which is withheld, could be utilized for the betterment and development of the state.
