Saroori expressed concern over the damages due to cloudburst and incessant rain


 
 
 
 
Gear up for Municipality election, Saroori tell party cadre

Kishtwar July 23: - Vice President JKPCC, G. M. Saroori-MLA Inderwal today expressed concern over the damages caused to residential houses, standing crops, livestock and other property in various villages of Sub-Division Chatroo, Tehsil Drabshallah, Sub-Division Thathri and Gandoh of district Kishtwar and Doda due to cloudburst and incessant rains in the area and sought compensation from the government accordingly.


Saroori called for immediate clearance of the National Highway Jammu-Kishtwar and other link roads should be completed on war footing basis so that movement of people and traffic is restored.


In order to meet the challenges of incessant rain vagaries, the district administration of Kishtwar and Doda need to ensure a better coordination between different departments especially those providing essential services. The Congress leader urged the government to ensure that there is no chaos or scarcity of essential commodities including LPG, kerosene, drinking water, sugar and ration. "The medical services, especially emergency services, should be monitored besides the damaged power distribution lines should be immediately repaired to ensure a better power supply in the state," Saroori demanded.


Saroori has also appealed to Chief Minister J&K Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to immediately sanction compensation in favour of victims of cloudburst and incessant rain in district Kishtwar and Doda. He has also asked the administrations of twin districts of Kishtwar and Doda to act swiftly to offset hardships of the people in the wake of landslides due to cloudburst and heavy rainfall in various parts of Kishtwar and Doda adding that Disaster Management Committees at district levels need to be operationalized to set the affected public delivery system back on rails.


Later Congress party In-Charge of Chenab Valley Mr. G. M. Saroori chaired a Congress cadres meeting here at Kishtwar and asked the party leaders and cadre to gear up for the municipal elections, expected to be held after few months.


While addressing the party workers Saroori said the party needs to be ready for the election to ensure success and take the state forward. “We have to make our party ready so that we win the municipality election with good success and take this state forward,” Saroori told workers.


“Time for the test is coming. This is the last few months to make this party strong as municipality election is around the clock,” Saroori said and adding that you will see Congress party in a new face, with new enthusiasm… a new life will be enthused into the party and new activities will take place which will benefit the party workers.


“Soon election committee for the Municipality election will also be announced which will cover all the people from all the thirteen wards of Kishtwar town to look after the affairs of the election”, Saroori said.


All the prominent leaders and workers from all the thirteen ward of Kishtwar town participated in the meeting.
