Directs concerned for immediate restoration of public utilities
Chatroo (Kishtwar), 09 January: - Due to inclement weather Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today conducted an extensive tour of Mugalmaidan, Sigdi and Chingam area of Tehsil Chatroo area to know about the situation arising out of the continued snowfall in Chatroo area of district Kishtwar.
Saroori have asked the administration to ensure early restoration of essential supplies including power and water supply in the snow hit areas.
He was informed by the people enroute about their problems faced by them on account of power failure, water and ration scarcity.
Saroori enquired about the post-snowfall situation. He asked the officers to take all measures to ensure that people did not suffer on account of disruption in supplies. He issued instructions to immediate clearance of snow on the link roads for convenience of the people of the area.
Saroori, who is MLA of the area, accompanied by all the officers of Tehsil Chatroo, directed the concerned authorities to ensure early restoration of power and drinking water supply He asked the officers and engineers to ensure quick response in their respective jurisdiction in this hour of need. He said there should be no laxity in this regards.
Congress MLA Saroori during the tour also took stock of the supply of essential commodities and directed CA&PD to ensure supply and distribution of ration to the consumers in time. He asked the concerned Tehsildar to intensify the services of market checking squads to check black marketing and hoarding. He asked the administration to set up price monitoring committees and keep constant vigil on prices of commodities beside asked the administration to watch out against falling of electric poles and transmission lines.
“Power supply which was already bad has worsened after the snow fall. The people complained of being charged huge power bills despite nonexistent power supply. The transformers are not being picked up for repairs with the result many areas have plunged into darkness”, Saroori added.
He said that HT and LT liens have been snapped due to snow fall thus causing a threat to the lives of people. He urged the PDD to take immediate steps in restoring the power supply.
Saroori was assured that the administration was fully geared up to meet the challenge thrown up by the heavy snowfall. Men and machinery have been pressed into service to clear roads of snow and ensure essential supplies. A close watch was also maintained on the market to check profiteering.
En-route, various deputations and individuals called on the MLA Saroori and apprised him about the problems being confronted to them.
Saroori issued on-the-spot directions to the officers accompanied to him, for attending to them on priority and their early redressal. He directed Tehsil Supply Officer Chatroo for ensuring adequate dumping and supply of ration in Sigdi, Kuchal, Passarkote, Mugalmaidan, Chatroo and Chingam area for the convenience of the people of the area.
The locals projected various demands which include electricity for un-electrified villages, better drinking water facility, clearance of snow from link roads, opening of health centre, anganwari centres and solar lights, besides provision of adequate power and water supply.
Responding to the demands, Saroori assured that their genuine demands would be fulfilled.
