Acute shortage of essentialties including LPG, ration, kerosene oil in Tehsil Chatroo: Saroori

Landslide disrupt normal life in chatroo since two weeks

Kishtwar, 08 February: - The road link between Kishtwar and chatroo was snapped due to landslide at kilometer 9 near Bhandarkote Kishtwar since 26th January, hit the normal life in many areas in Tehsil Chatroo like Kuriya, Thakrai, Keshwan and other adjoining areas of district Kishtwar.
In a press statement issued by youth Congress leader Sharik Saroori urged up on the GREF authority and administration of Kishtwar district to clear the landslide.
"Due to landslide basic essentialties are not available in these areas. Over hundred of vehicles were stranded on the said road following a landslide" said Saroori. He said that the people are facing lots of problems due to prevailing cold and chill winter season.
He urged up on the BRO (GREF) authority to clear the road and work round the clock to clear the landslide, as this highway is the lifeline and only communication link that connects Chatroo with rest of the country as the other link commonly known as Sinthan road is presently cut off as the said road remains block for 6 months in winter season due to snowfall.
Sharik Saroori also alleged that transporters are taking advantage of the situation and charging exorbitant fares from the passengers.
He said that due to closure of the road, there is acute shortage of essentialties including LPG, ration, kerosene oil in Tehsil Chatroo and some part of Tehsil Kishtwar having population of over 1 lac. He also said that most of the ration depots are running out of stocks in the area.
In order to address the issue, youth Congress leader also telephonically discuss the issue with BRO officers regarding blockage of road. He said that the BRO officers assured him that they are looking the matter on priority basis and added that hopefully the restoration of the road will be completed very shortly.
