Addressing development aspirations, providing responsive admn priority of govt: Tara Chand

Jammu, February 24: - Underlining commitment of the government to provide responsive administration, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said recent order to set up new administrative units all across the state is a step in the direction to decentralize power and establish an administrative set up that is transparent, responsive and pro-people in approach.

He said the coalition government members along with support from Union government worked for accommodating demands of the people from Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh region, adding that the report was accepted by the cabinet thus paving way for taking the government further closer to the people.

“I congratulate people of three regions of the state whose long pending demand for new administrative units has been accepted by the coalition government”, he added.

Tara Chand was addressing a massive public rally of over 20,000 people at Kharah, Khour today.

The rally was organised by the people to express gratitude for declaration of 13 new administrative units in the area.

Minister for Tourism Ghulam Ahmad Mir, MLA, Inderwal G.M. Saroori, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent public leaders of the area attended the rally.

Listing various social sector schemes launched by the government, Tara Chand said with the active support of central government a number of welfare schemes have been launched in the state, adding that measures launched during the tenure of Jenab Ghulam Nabi Azad are being carried forward by the present government.

“The government is committed to work for ameliorating the lot of the marginalized and all our efforts are afoot to take the development revolution to all nooks and corners of the state,” he added.

He said first the government enacted reservation law and to further safeguard the interests of the down trodden sections of the society special provisions were made to provide reservation all across the state for the reserved categories.

“Another landmark achievement of the government is to incorporate provisions of 73rd amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act of the state and now in our state also due representation would be given to women and reserved categories,” he emphasized.

He said earlier government under Azad took initiative to bring issue of Refugees to logical conclusion and various strides were taken in the direction for amicable resolution, adding that the process is still under way and highest level efforts are being put in to address the issue.

“Union Health Minister has been benevolent in sanctioning 4 new medical colleges and two Cancer hospitals in the state, earlier also health infrastructure was getting focused attention by way of new Super Specialty Hospitals and new medical facilities,” he added.

Underlining commitment of the government to provide free education to children, Deputy Chief Minister said work on the draft for Right to Education is completed and with its implementation every child in the age of four to fourteen years will have a right to free and compulsory education till completion of elementary education.

He said with in short span of time over 20,000 thousand promotions at different levels have been made in the department and over 6000 education volunteers have been regularized in the state.

Calling for bringing the area up on tourism map of the state, Tara Chand said need of the hour is to exploit the religious and border tourism potential of the area by way of extending more tourism friendly schemes. Tourists visiting Buda Amarnath, Baba Amarnath and other religious places need to be attracted to the area, he added.

Underlining all round development of the state as priority of the government, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said work on equitable development of all three regions of the state is resolve of the government and addressing development aspirations of the people is high on the government agenda.

He said all out efforts are on to provide basic facilities to the people living in every nook and corner of the state and mega projects have been launched to modernize infrastructure all across the state.

Tourism Minister while appreciating the efforts of the CSC for new administrative units headed by Tara Chand said the committee not only paved way for the new units but it went steps ahead and gave its suggestions on need to create new districts as projected by the public representatives. He said the day of cabinet approval to the CSC report would be long remembered in the state’s history; as golden day for fulfilling long pending demands of people from all over the state in one go.

He assured for creation of tourism infrastructure in the area and efforts would be redoubled to bring it up on the tourism map of the state. Instructions would be given to the concerned tourism authorities to exploit the potential of the area in the field of religious and border tourism, he added.

Addressing the rally, Saroori highlighted the development initiatives undertaken by the coalition government to upgrade infrastructure in the rural, border and far-flung areas of the state. He said Khour is among top by way of inter-connectivity of road network and aspirations of the people for better infrastructure, new administrative units and mega rural projects has been addressed in a very befitting manner.

He said in the last ten years of the UPA lead government the country on the whole and state in particular has achieved various landmarks in the field of overall development and further also the nation is looking up to the able and young leadership of Rahul Gandhi.

He said the nefarious design of communal forces to divide society would be defeated by the people.

Taking a dig at development model of Gujarat, Saroori said the development indices of the J&K state keeping in view the tough terrain are far better than Gujarat and people are mature enough to understand the politicking being played under the garb of development.
