Kishtwar Feb 23: Father and 10 year old minor died when a truck in which they were traveling meet with an accident near Phugumar on Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway at around 8.45 PM last night.
Mohammed Iqbal Sheikh (40 yrs) son
of Ghulam Rasool resident of Kuchal Chatroo and his son namely Atif Hussain (10
yrs) died when a truck bearing registration No. JK02W- 2137 meet with an
accident near Phugumar Kishtwar and fall into mighty river Chenab.
As soon as police receive the
information at the accident, senior police officers and team of Red Cross
Kishtwar rush to the spot and launched a rescue operation and brought the dead
and injured out from the rubble of the ill fated truck.
Mohammad Iqbal was immediately shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar, he was in critical condition he died in the hospital.

The ill fated truck loaded with sand
was on its way from Thatri to Kishtwar.
Meanwhile MLA Inderwal G M Saroori
who is also a local MLA has expressed deep grief over the unfortunate road
accident on National Highway II in which precious human lives have been lost.
Saroori said state government have
failed to reduce the accident in the state. He once again reiterated his
concern about the pressing need for the Police and Transport Departments, as
well as the other concerned agencies, to take the all required measures, on
immediate basis, to reduce the incidence of fatal road accidents in the State.
Saroori demanded immediate ex-gratia
relief of rupees one lakh each to the next of kins of deceased.
He prayed to the Almighty Allah for
blessing peace to the departed souls beside a place for them in heaven. He also
prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased
to bear irreparable loss.
While reacting to this accident
people blame GREF authorities for the repeated accidents on this road stretch
and added that GREF authorities has fail to improve poor condition of the this
road stretch despite repeated request from public as well as from the
administration.
