Police clueless about missing person

Jammu, Feb 12: The Home department Wednesday said police has failed to trace a person who is missing since communal riots of August 2013 in Kishtwar area of Jammu province.

In a reply posed by Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori regarding the status of the investigation into alleged murder of Choudhary Dil Muhammad of Balgran Binjwah who went missing since communal violence in the hilly district of Kishtwar last year, the government stated that were made to trace out missing person but till date no clue has been struck (Sic),” the reply said, adding, “many suspects were called and questioned but due to non availability of sufficient evidences, no arrest has been made so far”.

If further maintained that in case, the missing person was not traced, case for grant of compensation to his next of kins will be processed in accordance with prescribed rules.

It was maintained in the written reply that on the bases of the complaint lodged with the police by Ahmed, son of Qadir Bakshi of Balgran, a missing report was entertained in the police station Atholi vide number 17 on August 25, 2013 about the missing of Din Mohammad son of Qadir Baksh of Balgran, brother of the complaint and search was conducted.

Subsequent, on the bases of written complaint lodged by Ahmed, an FIR number 19 of 2003 under section 364 of RPC was registered at the same police station and investigation was started. However, the missing person could not be traced during the course of investigation
