Congress lambasts govt for delay in filling vacant teacher’s posts

PDP-BJP government ordering the transferring of teachers from the schools on political base

Kishtwar, August 31: - Vice President JKPCC and MLA Inderwal, G. M. Saroori on Monday demanded that steps be taken on a war footing to fill vacancies in teacher’s posts in various government schools in the state.

Saroori asked how would the state government achieve ‘standards’ in education without providing necessary infrastructure facilities in schools and filling vacancies of teachers’ posts. He alleged that over 30,000 posts of teachers are lying vacant in the state which has hampered the functioning of schools and Colleges and affected student’s community studies to majority of students.

He said: “The Chief Minister and Education Minister always harp on bringing standards into our education system. But how is it possible without providing the logistics?”

“Lakhs of qualified youths are unemployed in the State and they will get employment by filling of these posts. People’s Democratic party (PDP) and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP have themselves promised ‘filling of teachers post’ in their election manifesto. However, nothing has been done so far,” Mr. Saroori lamented.

Taking dig at coalition PDP-BJP government, Saroori said that government transferring the teachers from the schools, should focus on filling the vacant teaching posts in various schools and colleges---even education minister announced that government will fill these posts soon but nothing is practically visible on ground” said Saroori.

He said that recently government order transfer of several teachers from Marwah, Warwan, Padder, Chatroo, Mugalmaidan, Jakyas, Bhatyas, Kahara, Bunjwah, Thathri, Saroor, Sarthal, Thakrie, Kishtwar and other areas on political base and keeping the student community at lurch at the mercy of the god.

Saroori said that the education department shows helplessness in posting of teachers in the rural schools and asked government to take immediate steps to fill up all the vacant posts of teachers under the Education Department so that sufficient number of teachers can be posted to the schools to improve the studies of students.

Coalition not interested in Municipal polls: Congress Vice President

DY CM eroding sanctity of democratic institutions

Jammu, August 26: - Vice President J&K Congress G. M. Saroori today regretted that the present regime PDP-BJP, through its gimmicks and misdeeds, has eroded the sanctity and credibility of democratic institutions in the state.

“State government does not want to conduct Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) elections”, Mr. Saroori said that Deputy Chief Minister who is holding the ULB department is depriving citizens of their democratic rights and eroding sanctity of democratic institutions are the only noticeable achievements of the six months tenure of this regime.

"Instead of strengthening these democratic institutions, the present dispensation has been indulged into undemocratic means to undermine the role of elected representatives", he said and pointed towards inordinate delay in conducting Local Bodies elections in the state.

Mr. Saroori said that Deputy Chief Minister who is from Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) from the last six months and during the election campaign as well kept on saying that soon if we will come into the power, BJP will conduct elections of ULBs including Jammu and Srinagar Municipal Corporations but the government has postponed these elections with one or other excuse. “I fail to understand why government is shying away from its duty to conduct these elections. Formation of ULBs are must to empower the people of urban areas”, he said and added that in a democratic system it was necessary to make representative character of all democratic institutions to ensure peoples’ participation in these institutions.

Taking a dig at coalition regime for not fulfilling its promises to conducting local bodies elections, Saroori pointed out that the government has repeatedly announced to conduct these elections but these announcements remained only on papers. “Even in the Governor’s Address during the last budget session of the Assembly, the government has promised to conduct local bodies elections in the month of September-October”, he recalled, adding, “the way government is hesitating to conduct these elections it substantiate our apprehensions that this regime is not interested in conducting local bodies elections”.

Congress Vice President said, “due to prevailing system in the government there is no accountability and transparency and this situation suits the ruling coalition so the J&K DY CM is creating hurdles in conducting ULBs elections”. “Priority of this regime is not to empower people by strengthening democratic institutions but those at the helm of the affairs want to accomplish their nefarious designs by controlling such institutions through undemocratic means”, Saroori observed and cautioned that such attitude of the ruling party would be proved disastrous for the State.

“With its assiduous efforts Congress party had restored faith of the people in democracy and democratic institutions but this regime during last six months has shattered peoples’ faith”, Saroori maintained.
