Ghulam Nabi Azad visits late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s Graveyard in Brijbehara Anantnag

Offered Fateha, prayed for eternal peace to his soul

Srinagar, January 08: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday visited the Graveyard in Dara Shikoh garden, Brijbehara Anantnag area of Srinagar to pay tributes to Chief Minister Jammu and Kashmir Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Ghulam Nabi Azad was accompanied by PCC Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir, PCC vice Chief Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, CPI (M) M. Y Tarigami, Chief PDF Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Congress MLA's Mohammad Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmed Wani and others.

The leaders offered Fateha at the grave of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and prayed for eternal peace to his soul.

While paying floral tributes Ghulam Nabi Azad highlighted the suave leader’ a self-respecting, seasoned and thinking politician, Azad said he relentlessly strived for the equitable development of all the regions of the State and envisioned a unified, inclusive, pluralistic and progressive J&K and a strong India.

His qualities of head and heart, warmth and concern for others won him friends from across the political spectrum and made him dear to one and all, without any distinction of caste, colour and creed.

PCC Chief G. A Mir while paying tribute to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed described his a leader of the voiceless. He loved striving and struggling for their welfare, their dignity and their progress. Late Mufti sahab was passionate about politics as a tool of reform, change and just representation and was repulsed by the pursuit of power for petty ends. He never hesitated to call a spade a spade, chose the hardest paths when he could have chosen easier ones and remained committed to his people till his last breath.”

Paying tributes to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, PCC Vice President G. M Saroori recollected Mufti’s historic contributions towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir as a seasoned politician, a passionate social activist who believed in standing up for the honor of his people. "The contribution of the Mufti family towards the socio-political empowerment of people of Jammu and Kashmir has been tremendous. He was an unwavering voice of reason and enlightenment.” Saroori described Mufti a lifelong struggle to empower the dis-empowered masses and said that in his demise, Kashmir had lost a voice of courage and conviction.

CPI (M) J&K Chief M. Y Tarigami, PDF Chief Hakeem Mohd Yaseen also paid tributes to Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
