199th birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan celebrated in Kishtwar

Sir Syed showed a new path of educational and intellectual development to the nation: G. M Saroori

Kishtwar, October 17: - 199th birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan the founder of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) celebrated with traditional gaiety, book exhibitions, and facilitations in Kishtwar.

The event was organised by Sir Syed Memorial Charitable Organization J&K NGO in the premises of Islamia Faridia Higher Secondary school Kishtwar.

Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, former Minister and Member of legislative Assembly from Inderwal, was the Chief Guest of the commemorative function.

Nations that ignore changes remain backward in every walk of life,” Saroori said during his address. Referring to Sir Syed’s efforts to give a new outlook and understanding in place of traditional and conservative ideas, he exhorted the student community to adopt a rational and scientific thinking that would enable them to bring changes in the society in accordance with the contemporary challenges.

Paying tributes to the 19th century Muslim reformer and educationist, Saroori said that Sir Syed showed a new path of educational and intellectual development to the nation. He wanted the education that would provide enlightenment and not merely a degree, he added.

Saroori exhorted the students’ community to revitalize Sir Syed’s philosophy to resolve and pave the way for development for our next generation. He reiterated that Sir Syed dedicated all his life for the promotion of secularism, universal brotherhood, critical enquiry and scientific temperament. Student community today stand as a living embodiment of Sir Syed’s mission, he added.

Principle IFHS Kishtwar Naeem Ul Haq Waza also spoke on the occasion and lauded the personality of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Waza said that he was not just a good human being, but there were so many positive qualities which greatly helped the nation. And the best example of Sir Syed’s concern for educational upliftment of the country and its people is prestigious Aligarh Muslim University which is providing quality education to students.

Chief Guest Mr. GM Saroori also gave away cash price, certificates, trophies and medals to the students who have secure good marks in the recent competitive examinations and the examination conducted by JKBOSE for 8th, 10th and 12th standard. The 1st price winner got Rs. 5000, Rs. 3000 and Rs 2000 received by the 2nd and 3rd winner respectively.

Prominent among those Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo, Chairman NGO Shoaib Mushtaq, Mohd Amin Dolwal, Abdul Salam Zarger, Bashir Ahmed Sheikh, Waseem Sajjad, Mohd Shafi Dar, Firdous Mingnoo, parents of the students besides students were present on the occasion.
