Set up IIM and IIT at Chenab and Pirpanchal regions: G. M Saroori

People have been deprived and ignored by PDP-BJP coalition government

Chatroo/Mugalmaidan, October 14: - Urging state Government to address urges, aspirations and needs of people in Chenab and Pirpanchal regions of Jammu province, Vice President JKPCC and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori has said that setting up of AIIMS in Jammu area would be a step in a right direction, but at the same time, Government should establish Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chenab Valley and Pirpanchal areas in order to ensure equal development of the State.

This was said by Saroori while meeting with the people at Kuriya, Dadpeth, Mugalmaidan, Chatroo and Chingam areas of sub-division Chatroo. Saroori said that establishing any institution (IIT, IIM) in Jammu province the interests of Pirpanchal and Chenab regions should not be ignored as usual. “People of Chenab and Pirpanchal regions have been deprived and ignored by PDP-BJP coalition government and govt. must establish one of these two institutions each in Chenab and Pirpanchal regions.”

Saroori alleged that PDP government were unable to fulfil their promises to the people of the state. "Why Mehbooba Mufti should apologise to Kashmiris, Chenab and Pirpanchal regions for not being able to fulfill her promises which she has made with people and had argued that BJP being in power at the Centre can accommodate grievances of Jammu and Kashmir at developmental front much better," Saroori said and added that "PDP leaders were praising day and night to Narender Modi and promising stars and moons from the sky for the state, but now BJP is not only letting Mufti down but by making Kashmiris and Chenab valley people to beg for everything, the union government stands exposed," he said.

MLA Inderwal appealed all political, social, trade, and other organizations to form a joint strategy to force government to establish IIT and IIM in Chenab and Pirpanchal regions. Congress Party is committed for equitable development of all the three region, Congress Party treats people in all the regions equally and would continue to fight for equitable development of regions and the resolution of issues confronting people in the State, Saroori said.

During the tour to Chatroo, people also highlighted their grievances which including adequate ration, distribution of 3kgs rice and 2 kgs flour to consumers instead of 2 kgs rice and 3 kgs flour under NFSA, clean drinking water facility, distribution of non-adulterate flour, release of MGNREGA payment, early clearance of liability of work done of contractors by R&B division Chatroo, release of salary in favour of government employees, and other day to day problems. Saroori gave on spot directions to the officials to early redressal of genuine problems and said regarding the liability he will discuss the matter with Commissioner Secretary R&B, Chief Engineer R&B Jammu and with Director School education for early clearance of liability.
