5 killed in a road accident on Batote-Kishtwar road


 
Repeated road accidents are grave concern for Governor Administration: Saroori

KISHTWAR, FEBRUARY 12: Senior Congress Leader and Former MLA Inderwal, G. M Saroori today expressed extreme grief and sorrow over loss of 5 innocent lives on Batote-Kishtwar road in which a family of Pawan Kumar (Master) along with 4 other members were on the way from Jammu to Badhath, died on a spot when a vehicle  bearing no-JK07-2745 skidded off the road at Paeynalla Kukigad area.

Those who died in a tragic accident include Sanjay Kumar (32) son of Pawan Kumar, Pawan Kumar (32) son of Bansi Lal, Rekha Devi (26) wife of Pawan Kumar, Reta Devi (30) wife of Rakesh Kumar and Kewal Krishan (37) son of Phool Chand. All were from Badhath Saroor area of Drabshalla block. 

In his condolence message, Mr. Saroori conveyed his sympathy to the bereaved family. He expressed deep concern and dismay over the recurring loss of lives from sustained road accidents in Chenab Valley. In this context, Congress leader recalled the important discussions held in Assembly, in various meetings and house committee recommendations that need to be implemented on the ground but unfortunately the reports and recommendations submitted by the committee in which I (Saroori) was part of that committee submitted before the government is gathering dust.

The repeated road accidents in Doda, Kistwar, Ramban, and Udhampur districts, Congress leader said, must be a grave concern for the state government. “It is a situation which demands immediate measures and attention of all of us especially the officers of transport, traffic police, National Highway Authorities and Border Roads Organisation to put forward their departmental specific assignment of the causes responsible for causing accidents in these hilly districts,” he added.

The senior Congress leader hoped that the officers of various departments shall urgently enforce the strictest possible measures to reduce the incidence of tragic accidents. He assured all possible assistance to the kin of the deceased and have also appealed to Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir G. C Murmu to immediately release Rs. 10 lakhs each as ex-gratia relief in favour of next kins of the deceased.
