Release 50 Lakhs for Loopa Bridge: PUC Chairman Ghulam Mohammad Saroori

Complete mettling/shingling on Bunjwah-Dunadi road; Saroori review working of JKPCC

Srinagar, August 11: - A meeting of the Committee on Public Undertakings (CPU) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori here today.

The meeting discussed threadbare various issues relating to the proper implementation of the schemes undertaken by the JKPCC department. Mr. Saroori reviewed the pace of work on Ganpath Bridge across river Chenab at Doda, which is under execution since November 2006.The Bridge is likely to be completed in March 2016 at an estimated cost of Rs. 35.71 crore out of which Rs. 13.63 crore have been incurred on the execution of the bridge upto June 2014. Saroori directed JKPCC to complete the mettling/shingling on 13 km long Bunjwah-Dunadi road within one month beside speed up the construction and blacktopping on Kuriya-Keshwan road. He has also passed the directions to JKPCC to immediately repair the damaged roads of the area and ensure good quality of work on all roads constructed by the department beside directed JKPCC to immediately release Rs 50 Lakhs for Loopa Bridge situated on Thathri-Kilhotran road.

Speaking on the occasion Saroori said, “My priority is to increase road connectivity in those areas which have less road connectivity, particularly in the erstwhile district Doda having only 9% road connectivity till 2008.” He added, “Even former Chief Minister CM Ghulam Nabi Azad had a dream to provide road connectivity to the people, living in inaccessible and remote areas of the district, who have to travel long distances to reach main roads”. If a government can ensure easy connectivity between different regions, between villages and towns, between farms and markets, we can spread prosperity. It seems that Congress MLA Inderwal, G.M Saroori has realized that fact so he opined that the road connectivity to all inaccessible areas of the state will change the conditions villages and villagers. As the Chairman PUC hails from the erstwhile district Doda which has only 9 % road connectivity in 2008 but during his tenure as Minister for R&B connectivity increased to 42%, so it is obvious those people have high expectation from him and also the MLA seems concerned to improve the connectivity of erstwhile district Doda. Mr. Saroori also stressed upon the concern officers that all the projects should be completed within the stipulated time frame so that benefits of the projects could percolate to the target population. He also underscored the need that the projects undertaken for execution should not be thrown half way for want of funds or any other formality.
