Reviews RD schemes of Doda, Ramban, Kishtawar
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 12: The Minister for Rural Development & panchayats Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has asked the officers to speed up the beautification plan of the Jamia Masjid area, so that it can be developed on the heritage basis, which would go a long way in preserving the historical importance of the area besides, ensuring its proper development.
The minister was addressing officers during a review meeting convened here today. It was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mr. G.A .Dar and senior officers of R&B and other executing agencies.
The minister asked the officers to speed up the pace of implementation of various schemes undertaken in the city, so that the people get benefitted from these. He said that it has been endeavour of the government to ensure holistic development of the state and in this regard several programmes have been undertaken in various sectors like SMC, PHE, Housing, etc.
Mr. Sagar directed the officers to construct a Multiplex at Roshangarh Mohallah at Nowhatta which would be having a modern community Hall in the ground floor and shops at different levels, which would be allotted to the shopkeepers of Muslim park whose shops have been acquired. He also directed for speeding up the work on the Suklipora road cut, so that proper road connectivity is ensured to the area of Mahraj Ganj upto Nalahmar.
Later the minister convened a review meeting of the rural development schemes being implemented in Doda, Ramban and Kishtawar districts. It was attended by the Minister for R&B, Mr. Abul Majid Wani, Minister of State for RDD, Mr. Vikar Rasool Wani, Legisltors Mr. G.M.Saroori, Mohammad Sharief Niaz, Secretary Rural Development, Mr. Shafat Noor Barlas, Director Rural Sanitation, Member Secretary MGNREGA, and other senior officers of the department.
The minister directed for speedy implementation of MGNREGA maintaining that it has been instrumental in speeding up the development of rural and far flung areas besides providing the much needed job opportunities to the people of these areas. He said that officers should work in close coordination with the public representatives so that the ambit of this scheme gets broadened and more people get benefitted from it.
Mr. Sagr also asked the officers to speed up the implementation of various other rural development Schemes, so that the people of these far-flung districts get benefitted from them. He said that due care should be taken so that the benefit of these percolates to the targeted and genuine beneficiaries.
It was given out in the meeting that an amount of Rs. 16.18 Crore was the total availability of funds under Backward Region Grants Fund (BRGF) for Doda ,Ramban and Kishtawar districts during 2013-14 out of which 13 Crore has been spent. Similarly, under Indra Awas Yojna(IAY) Rs 4.46 Crore has been spent by taking up 1618 works and under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) Rs 8.06 Crore has been spent in these three districts by taking up 22675 Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) and 1130 school toilets.
The meeting was also told that during 2014-15 an amount of Rs1.96 Crore is available as first instalment under IAY and 1004 dwelling units have been taken up to July and under NBA Rs 2.29 Crore is available and 36600 IHHL and 156 school toilets have been taken up.
